A nut and bolt walkthrough of how to remove E38 headlamps, add a set of angel eyes then restore and reassemble the lamp cluster including turn signal indicator Авто/Мото
Finally! I've got my e38 in march and since July I was trying and figuring out how to take off that metal bracket under pre face lift headlight. I knew that it was suppossed to slide towards centre of a car but noone told it was spring loaded. I'm very glad that I've found your video! Thank you very much! Big love!
It took me a wild figure it out, that's why I decided to make a video of it as there was not much help online at the time.
Really helpful video thanks. I was stumped as to how to pry off the glass until I saw your pry place trick. In the nick of time this evening as I was levering all over the place with no luck and then came in and found your video.
It's a surprisingly technical challenge.
Hah, we make the interiors for the a380s :D anyway, nice job, and nice 7-series aswell!
I have the same individual like yours
You look like John Prine. Do you know who that is? Nice car that old e38. Looks like some highline options on that one. Beauty.
We play both kinds of music:
Country AND Western.
Should do more tutorials !
Yeah thanks, Hernan. Every time something goes wrong with the car I like to capture some moments and edit them into a movie because these beautiful old cars are such a pleasure to drive when they're running well.
Nice but you did not show how to supply power to it...you edited that part.
Jose, play the video again from 6:20 to 6:25 and you'll see I tested the angel eyes on the 12v positive battery terminal by the left cylinder bank. Later I wired it up to a better source after the job was finished..
Seems like a lot of careful work.😅
The reason I made this video is because there were no videos explaining how to do it.
AT 6:49 what's that LED in the high beam and how is that installed
Hi Ave. It was explained at 4:38. I replaced the tungsten parking lamp with an LED for a brighter, safer daytime driving lamp. The dip and full beam bulbs are stock.
Where did you get those angel eyes?
José Silva
Hi José
The ones I installed in the video were so bad they stopped working days later. Search eBay for item number
121929218358 these were much better and had a turn signal.
Thanks for the post. But why aren't you actually wearing sandals with socks :-)
Looks like your E38 is pre-facelift. I have a 2001 (post-facelift) and the steps to remove the headlight assembly are pretty much the same. But I do have one recommendation -- the nuts that hold the sliders should just be loosened; not actually removed. The piece I'm referring to is the one that dropped when you took out the first headlamp. I muscled out the slider piece on the first one, but just loosened the ones on the second assembly and slid out the headlight.
I got my Angel Eyes on and re-installed the lights. I'll do the wiring later. But thanks again for posting; it was really helpful.
Cheers, Duckback
Glad the video was some help, and well done for not dropping pieces into the crumple zone.
By the way, pause at 0:36 to see the eponymous socks with sandals in their full glory. Black socks with Karrimor sandals give the illusion of running shoes!
You are reading the instructions. Very controversial.
They're not "chemtrails", but contrails. Water vapor generated by the burning of fuel and the condensation of exhaust vapor.
Look up Stratospheric Aerosol Particulates.
I know you won't.
