    When Jinx mocked Ekko and called him "the boy savior" she was referring to Ekko saving everyone...everyone except her. If you know some "deeper" lore, Ekko had a crush on Jinx when they were kids. And in the music video of "Enemy" by Imagine Dragons you can see Ekko and Powder beeing sort of best friends having fun together.
    Ekko wasnt trying to convince Vi that Powder is no more, he was telling it to himself. On the bridge he thought Jinx. They even replayed their childhood game and "rememberred" the rules of the game. Even used the same tactics like old times. When Ekko punched Jinx to the ground, he saw Powder and not Jinx. He could fight Jinx but struggled to punch Powder. And you could see on her face, it was Powder and not Jinx sobbering. Wondering why she killed herself and him? Suicide aint easy thing, tbh. Going with a friend its much "easier". And at that moment, she knew she had no one. Even her best friend in childhood turned against her. Vi left for good aswell. And with losing the fight and sobbering right in front of Ekko, she was on her lowest point and didnt want to go on after that. And its probably "nicer" for her to go with her best friend than alone

    • @lordheroicguy
      @lordheroicguy 2 года назад +12

      I know about the first paragraph, but the second paragraph I didn't even thought about or even catch on after watching it hundreds of times, now the suicide makes a lot more sense and tragic. Because she has no one to go to, she was lied and used by Silko even though he gave her everything, she isn't the same after the falling apart from people she thought are friends are enemy's to her because either their dead, leave, and hate her as like she's a betrayer. But because of her trauma makes her feel different of them as well. Both of them sees different ends of what sides they are in without knowing their faults because they all moved on from time. And that is sad.

      And when you think about it, her suicide was successful. When she let that bomb off that was the last time we see Powder. When she’s brought back only Jinx is resurrected, but powder stays dead, dead with her best friend lil man on that bridge

She has to come clean and make a choice to either whos the bad guy (betrayer) and who should she be up against. Sis and powder or Sis vs Jinx. Or if things went different, like (SPOILERS) if Vi dies and Silko won, She'll be going back to Powder, and face her father figure like what her did was doing the whole time.

    I think most folks have SYMPATHY for Jinx and her trauma but I don't think anyone thinks the things that she's done since the time skip are justified. I have plenty of sympathy for her and her pain, including her seeming either desire for or indifference towards ending herself. But like...yeah, that doesn't justify murder and it DEFINITELY doesn't justify her attacks on Vi. You can use the trauma to explain it but that's a long way from justification.

    • @zahrulexe
      @zahrulexe 2 года назад +18

      @@TrulyFatherGhost I agree with you, and (long take) The way I see it, Vi really IS the reason why she's Jinx. Vi brought her to every heist jobs, breaking into people's homes, etc. Set aside her jinx-ing every job, if they were to continue living that life, (and that path that Vander told Vi would only bring more trouble), they'll eventually become a criminal group from the undercity that'll eventually become violent because of how stubborn the topside is. And here's the thing, when Vi left Powder (unintentionally ofc), Powder stayed on that path (+ having Silco approving her as opposed to Vander who didn't want them to do these jobs).

    • @kimvanmil7475
      @kimvanmil7475 2 года назад +21

      I agree on all the above. But especially the fact that mylo was the one constantly nagging her for screwing up. He was a total jerk to her. Think about it, why would mylo keep showing up and not claggor? Claggor was just vibin with her as far as I can tell. Back then mylo made her hella insecure and even in death he keeps at it. That and the fact that she feels insanely guilty for killing them ofcourse. Which is also a big point since that was her biggest screw up of all times in which she lost mylo and claggor. And in her head she keeps hearing mylo giving her shit about it.
      That's because when she is triggered by the tiny blue explosion in her lab, she is talking to mylo saying that it was an accident and that she is sorry.

    • @zahrulexe
      @zahrulexe 2 года назад +10

      @@kimvanmil7475 Indeed. Mylo's voice essentially became the voices of her negative thoughts. Vi and Claggor did show up once in a while, but only fragments of memories like in episode 5 in the arcade when she remembered Claggor saying "you worry powder's gonna beat you again" and Vi saying "because you're a Jinx!". One detail someone pointed out is that how she made dolls of Mylo and Claggor of different sizes, resemblance of her negative thoughts (Mylo) and positive thoughts (Claggor). Mylo's doll is bigger while Claggor's is just a tiny doll. Adding to that is how she kept Vi's rabbit doll and flare in a box, probably because she wanted to forget Vi.

    • @BlankestKnight
      @BlankestKnight 2 года назад +3

      @@kimvanmil7475 Mylo was right though. Her screwups not only ruined every plan they had but also got him and everyone one else killed. Part of that is Vi's fault too since despite Powder being too young and immature to handle these missions, she insisted on bringing her anyway. I think she sees Milo all the time not just because he antagonized her as kids but because deep down she feels like he was right about her. He is her greatest mental demon because he is the one who would always hold her accountable for her failures even when nobody else would.

    Jinx is a very complicated character. She is Harley Quinn mixed with Joker, but done in a non-cringe way. Jinx is what DC WISHES Harley Quinn could be. Powder/Jinx has real abandonment issues. Shes afraid of being left alone, but everything that has happened to her shattered her mind. I feel so sorry for her. While you cannot justify her actions, you can understand them and you can feel sympathy for her. She is literally a monster that Piltover AND the Undercity created, a product of her environment, war and loss. The only thing anchoring her is Vi and when the hope that she can be back with her sister vanishes, Powder dies and Jinx is born.

  • @NRG-REC

    Inb4 people claim she held back her last shot.
    She didn't. Writers and animators have confirmed she didn't and from a storytelling perspective it would make that scene of ekko flashing back to her old moves make less than zero sense if she still managed to tag him with her old moves but just chose not to.
    He caught her by surprise (you see her eyes widen) she tries lining up the shot but he clocks her before she can fire, she then immediately tried to shoot him again (where's that holding back at there huh?)
    Until he knocks the gun out her hands and punches her in the face.
    Just cuz we the audience see it in slow mo doesn't mean she had more than like half a second before he was on her and again, she was panicking.
    She only held back AFTER he did because she realized he still cared for her.

    "excuses can only go so far" You guys had the best conversation there. I've been debating/arguing/discussing with people in the comment section about these. But yeah. Jinx is not a good person. Just because Ted Bundy had a bad childhood, that doesn't mean that we allow his actions and what he's done later in his life. He's done terrible things. Same here with Jinx. She killed people, Mylo and Claggor was accidental. But the 6 enforcers as far as we know of, and the other enforcers here on the bridge, and ESPECIALLY the firelight's members. Ekko had to fight her all these years trying to stay alive and take out Silco. But yeah. We sympathize with her because of her past.. But her crimes and the bad thing's she's done are unacceptable.

      I don't think you can compare her to people like ted bundy. There's more to it than just a difficult childhood. Trauma, manipulation etc. She is still a child and not fully aware of what she is doing. From their point of view, they were her enemies. You can condemn their actions, but the enforcers and vi aren't much better. In Revolution, nobody complains about losses of this kind. If Jinx were real, she would be in a mental institution.

    The Powder Ekko dynamic is really cool. Also a bit of a commentary on fatherhood. Vander's biggest regret is that he only taught Vi, Powder and the rest of his "kids" how to fight their way thru life. Meanwhile, Benzo raised Ekko to be a builder. He taught him how to take care of stuff, repair stuff, look over stuff while working at the repair shop as a kid. He also nurtured Ekko's intelligence while Powder's intelligence was ignored by her family. These two kids are raised in the same environment by two different kinds of fathers and it affects the type of people they grow up to be.

    Girl's actions absolutely were not justified! That's an important part of how the show depicts her. All I'll say is definitely keep in mind the emotional side of things y'all touched on--her trauma and severed connections, and how she sees Vi.
    As for the bridge scene, think about that smile she gave Ekko, before dropping a bomb she knew she couldn't escape--But also about the fight itself and the setup. Ekko initiated a game, their game they used to play as kids, and Jinx played along for a little of that old feeling they had. She had the shot lined up at the end, she could have killed him, but didn't pull the trigger. Then he ends the game, pulls her back to reality *violently,* reminds her of where they are and who they are now. And she drops that bomb. She took that moment when he hesitated to reflect and realize it's all just *too much.*

    She actually didn't shoot and try to kill Vi or Caitlyn. Jinx specifically shoots between Vi and Caitlyn on the bridge almost to force them away from each other rather than to do harm. If you watch the bullets go right down the middle, not on the right side where Caitlyn was. If Jinx really was targeting Caitlyn to kill her, she would've shot on her side. The bomb in itself, like others have said, wasn't for Ekko, but for herself as in the span of a few minutes she, in her mind, was replaced by Caitlyn by her sister, just felt betrayed by Silco not telling her Vi was alive, and Ekko (childhood bestie and crush at the very least crush on the Ekko side) also seeing her as an enemy. Not justification of her actions were good, but justification in following how her mind works from all the trauma and abandonment issues.
    It's also interesting that's it's not really talked about how Jinx had the shot on Ekko but didn't take it. It could be argued it happened too fast, but if you think about her reaction time in other scenes she would've either landed the shot, dodged, or continued to fire (even if missing). You can see this reaction in her face just briefly when he dodges it which either snaps her out of the trance she was in of when they were kids and made the situation of potentially killing her friend real to her, or something else.
    It wasn't until she had this facial reaction and a guaranteed shot on Ekko where she stopped firing. She traced his jump and had him targeted centerfold the entire time. Makes me wonder if she was more taken back that he adjusted from when they were kids, or if she, just like Ekko, couldn't "pull the trigger" for the final blow. Jinx, to me, was actually was the first one to display restraint or incapable of killing off a childhood friend, which was then mirrored by Ekko.

    I wouldn't say her actions are justified in an objective sense. They do make sense to her, but if I was on the jury, I'd definitely put her away and hope they get her some psychological help. (even if I deeply empathize with her pain.)
    There is one thing I think most people forget to take into account though, when it comes to her killing, and it's that she's ALWAYS been told Piltover and the Enforcers were the enemy. Silco wasn't the only one wanting to go after and kill Topside. Vi was equally as eager to make Piltover respect them. So, in Jinx's mind, any time she kills an enforcer or topsider, it's naturally "right". She's even humming when she shoots the wounded enforcer on the bridge. It's a "normal day at work" moment for her.
    I think that's also why she gets so confused about Vi's actions with Caitlyn. She doesn't understand why her sister is protecting a topsider and an enforcer no less.
    It doesn't justify it, but I'm not surprised when she kills enforcers so carelessly. In her mind, there's nothing wrong with it.

    • @keith9864
      @keith9864 2 года назад +5

      She's humming the song she's sings at the start of act 1 when enforcers are executing helpless people on the bridge. Honestly, the most frustrating part of this show is how easy Vi forgets enforcers/Piltover murdered her parents, and how most of the viewers don't see a problem with the dynamic between Piltover and Zaun. They're the true villains on the show.

    At the end of the fight on the bridge, sure, Jinx was ready to kill both of them. But somewhere in her mind, in her eyes, you can almost hear Powder saying, "I'm scared to go alone, please come with me?" ... She's not well, and in her madness she hurts everyone she cares about.

    One of her last acts as powder is to be too tired to continue with the trauma and pain it causes.
    One of her new traits as jinx, is that she is willing to go down beside her “enemies’ if that’s what it’s takes

    “At what point do we hold her accountable?”
    Fire commentary.
    Until Jinx gets the professional (or emotional) help she needs…it’s hard to see her going back to being Powder. This show is built different. Nice job lads.

    silco truly believes what he is saying to jinx, so it’s not manipulation. he is speaking from his heart because like rafael (i hope i spelled it right!) said, they are similar and both have been betrayed

    Come on now don’t be like that. The 3 guys she killed were by accident. This seems to obviously be on purpose tho.

    I don’t see how you account for all of Jinx’s undeniable trauma, abandonment issues, and BRUTAL manipulation, and STILL ask if her actions are justified. Like YES, her actions are incorrect and (to some) unforgivable, but the justification is in the events/character-building we’ve already seen. Powder attempting to hurt/kill another friend is only because EVERY OTHER WAS AN ACCIDENT and this one (with a mask on) has attacked her the ENTIRE time after the time skip (let alone the time skip itself). Again, Powder shooting at Vi is understandable because Vi LEFT HER. True Vi meant well to come back but Jinx NEVER got to know that. In Powder’s eyes she was called a “Jinx” and left to die, until Silco showed up and became her new Dad #TeamJinx

    I don’t blame Caitlyn for not drinking the water. She’s been kidnapped and doesn’t know who’s keeping her. For all she knows, the water could be poisoned or drugged or anything.

    I dont think her actions were ever justified, and I don't think that's the point that people make trying to defend jinx. People who defend her, just try to make people understand what is going on inside her head and why for her, her actions make sense. Because let's face it, her actions, for a normal untraumatized adult, are fucking coockcoock. Jinx' whole perceptions of right and wrong is all warped and she clearly isn't a healthy functioning adult. Everything that happened to her made her like this, but that doesn't justify it. It's wrong for her to do this. It just justifies it to herself. But what I think is important is to understand how and why her actions became to be, because its a beautiful and dark subject.
    At the bridge when she activates the bomb with ekko on top of her, she has lost it all. In her eyes Vi actively choose to leave her for caitlyn (who, as Savika said it, probably replaced her, that's why she sees her as a literal demon), and ekko stands up for vi and cait, and thus their betrayal of jinx. Ekko, her childhood best friend, one of the only people who validated her as a child and didn't care she was a screw up. She is at her lowest low at this point and decides then and there to end it all, with Ekko next to her.
    Again, it's not justifiable at all, none of it was. But you got to understand the circumstances and her way of thinking, the way her brain is broken for it to make sense. Jinx is a hurt human being that literally doesn't see what is real or not and thus is highly unstable and an active danger to herself and everyone around us. That's the point. She is made like this by her environment, people with more power than her and a poor chemical brain balance. You can't blame her for whatever happened to her, you can for making poor decisions. But you need to understand what those two combined create.
