    The issue I have with down jackets is that I can not wear mine (mens Senja) for more than 5-10 minutes whilst hiking because the insulation is just too much. I end up sweating profusely which then adversely impacts the jackets ability to loft. This has also been the case with more lightweight down jackets for me in the past. I find down jackets are almost exclusively only beneficial when you're moving slowly at low intensity or standing still, otherwise they just do not have a place in my layering system.

      That’s a common problem, you’d be better off with multiple thinner breathable layers. However, it’s always wise to carry an insulated jacket for emergency use or just when you stop for lunch. Thanks for watching. Paul.

      @@trekitt I simply trek naked until I reach the top of a mountain🗻, and then chuck on an expedition goose down jacket.

    Happy New Year! How does this one compare to the Arcteryx Thorium AR? Warmth? Fit? Breathability?

    • @trekitt
      @trekitt  4 года назад +2

      Hi Selene. Warmth = very similar, Fit = Senja is roomier, Breathability = Thorium is more breathable. I hope that helps. Paul.

    Hi, thanks for the review :) How's the men's sizing on the senja? I'm usually a regular size xl, sometimes a size large in TNF and vintage clothing, but I'm getting a little bigger recently due to the reclusiveness of Covid, would a senja mens size xxl fit me okay?

    • @trekitt
      @trekitt  4 года назад

      Both Paul and I would opt for our usual size in the Senja, so I'd recommend an XL. Too big and you'll find it won't perform at its best. Regards, Harry.

    Would love it if you guys would show your products packed small so we can see how compressed they can get. Also, can you tell me what pants you're wearing ? Like the hood on this jacket 😊

      The trousers are Arcteryx Gamma LT Pants

      We'll make a note for next time. And as Stephen correctly pointed out, they're the Gamma LT Pants.

    Hi all. Trying to decide between this and the Fjallraven Expedition Pack Down Hoodie. Do you know if they're comparable in fit and warmth?

    • @trekitt
      @trekitt  3 года назад

      The Senja features twice the amount of insulation, so it'll be far warmer. I'm afraid we don't stock the Pack Down, so I can't comment on fit. Harry

    Happy New Year Hannah and the rest of the Trekitt team. I wonder if ME would consider using their EXL system throughout all their work insulated pieces: Or is it only good for jackets with a certain full amount?

    • @trekitt
      @trekitt  4 года назад

      Happy new year to you too. EXL would, in theory, work well in any insulated product, but I suspect that the increased cost and production time limits its use. Paul.

      @@trekitt That makes sense. My Citadel jacket has it and I think it is brilliant.

    Hi trekkit, could you review the mens senja jacket next.

    • @trekitt

      We'll add it to the list, but with the current restrictions, our video production is being curtailed. Paul.

    is the mens one as shiny as the womens?

    • @trekitt
      @trekitt  4 года назад +2

      Both use the same fabric, but neither looks particularly shiny in person. Regards, Harry.

    Why do so many companies put 90/10 or 80/20 instead of 100% down ? Its allmost impossible to find 100% down jacket this days.

      Basic economics! Down/feather mix is cheaper but virtually as effective. Thanks for watching.
