Man I just got these about a month ago and they are really good looking speakers and their sound is really Really good !! Thank u for the Deep, unboxing man ! Their Bass is so clean 🔥🔥🔥
@@shamrock4840 they are actually great but overkill for surround unless u really want them. Great for front channels with or without a subwoofer. It's a great speaker
which amplifier are you using? i wonder if the audiolab 6000a will be okay for these speakers? Or from your experience or research, what do you think is the best amplifier for these speakers? Kindly help.
Hi 👋 how do u take the woofer out ? I need to pop off the cover to get to the screws but dont know the way to pop off the cover to get to the screews. I blew my woofers and need to replace them. I loved these speakers. 😢
@@hxosplus thanks. I saw a cut out picture of the speaker externals and the bracing and it doesn't look like it. I just ordered a Yamaha Adventage Rxa4a this morning after waiting 6 months for them to get them in stock at Crutchfield. Thank u for always being there when I have a question
And by the way the tweeter is allmost a copy of the scanspeak ringradiator . Guess the patent ran out. Amazing you can get that quality for that price .
Thank you for the only teardown of the R200! I just bought these and like everything but the tweeter. Do you know how to remove the tweeter? I wanted to test them with a different tweeter before I decide what to do. I have a speaker selector switch, so I was comparing these to Polk SDA2, Sony SSCS5, ESS AMT1, etc. Amp is Denon PMA1600NE with Denon DCD1600NE SACD deck.
@@justinking5964 hi, I did start with 4 ply of Swifter sheet,3, 2, 1 ply. 4 or 3 ply cut the piercing radiation but also killed some needed treble. Crutchfield was sympathetic and only charged $12 to return shipping them. It's a real shame since they were beautiful, solid, the best tight bass.
@@johnnyhiett thx. I am not native spearker but I can see you like this speakers becasuse of the great bass sound?there are many solutions to reduce the harshness of twteer i assumed. For example, using a patch of plastic or try water glue ?
@@justinking5964 hi, yes there were many ways to reduce the treble of the ring tweeters... but they are just bad for smooth sound or good imaging. It made no sense for me to pay for a bad new speaker. So now I'm refurbishing some 45 year old ESS Tempest, 8 inch 2 way speakers. They have the mid sized original Heil AMT tweeters. I had one membrane factory replaced last year. I just got Hivi F8 woofers from Parts Express for the cabinets, $60!
I'm the one who asked you to do this Deep unboxing and I appreciate it so much. I had a question. What receiver or amp did u use to sound test these R 200s ? I bought them a couple months ago but haven't heard them yet because all the Av receivers have been out of stock. I have heard they might be hard to drive . Did u play them on a Receiver ? I'm looking at buying the Brand new Yamaha Rxa4a 110 watt and I figure it would have enuff power to push them pretty good. Thank u Good sir !!
Hi, the amp is a Rotel one. But Yamaha, Marantz, Cambridge Audio are excellent choices as well. Check the Harman Kardon Citation Amp, a marvelous choice.
Nice video. Always fun to see how they are built. But the crossover isn’t good. Bad parts for most of the components. And a lot for a 2 way speaker too.
Even tho they are cheaply made woofers, they sounded better on the fast attack and decay bass than anything I've tested. The cabinet must have perfect tuning and good spectral decay.
Looks like a shitty stamped steel basket but the lower venting of the spider and pole piece is smart, hardly new or high tech but hey they are cheap speakers.
What is the best affordable Bookshelf for you? Have you tested Heco Elementa 300, too? I own Them and would Like to know what could be better. And they are really awesome. Kind Regards
The crossover seems very complex with many iron core inductors. They tried to save a few bucks by skipping on quality component. How sad! Thanks for the video.
All crossovers for this type of tweeter will be pretty complex, it's a design trade off for such a directional tweeter. They have to boost it to help with linearity and in turn then need the crossovers to "pull it" back down again in certain ranges. You can use less, more expensive parts and get a flatter response but it will sound bad as a result because the high end will shrivel up. There is more to crossover design than how expensive parts are.
Considering the price of these speakers they have cheap stamped baskets for the woofer cheap iron corn doctors these speakers are cheaply made and they're charging a pretty good premium for them I'm kind of disappointed.

The shape of the woofer surround help the airflow

I'm going to take one of mine apart to see the tweeter if it's possible. I wanted to know if it had a heat sync like the Bowers and wilkins s2 606 ?
Don't think so

Hey man how did you get the rings off to demount the woofers? An do you have a picture of the whole crossover? Thanks so much.
I have a bad woofer how did you get it out,
It's easy, just pull out the ring with your hands
Is the woofer made from cast aluminum basket or polymer
It is stamped steel. Metallic frame.
Well atleast its a steel...good to hear that👍
