I ended up ordering the Mondraker Podium Carbon RR SL based on your video. Just got addicted to the clean lines of the bike. Size M, 19.58 lbs without pedals. Many thanks for the recommendation! It is the stablemate of my 2006 Klein Attitude XX (upgraded to GX AXS, new carbon crank, brakes and wheels).

Love the video, great info with sense of humor. Missed opportunity to completely nailing it though, you used pictures of intraoral mirrors but called them probes!

I just ordered my root down ti. I am so excited. Had a Kona Hot when I was a kid with a full XT build. It looked so similar to this and I had more fun on that than any other bike. So excited to not have paint to chip and zero carbon to worry about. I just want to ride and not mass with things. Root down ti was made for just that. Just ride it.
Thanks man. Great video and I appreciate the time you put into this

Thank you man, I appreciate it! I'd love to hear your thoughts on the Rootdown, as I've always wanted to give one a try!

Love the Rootdown Ti. It’s so fast, climbs crazy and is really easy to throw around. I love the no paint frame. So nice to take care of. I bought my gf a Rootdown steel in red and it’s just as fun. Honestly try one. It’s a rare bike too and either people have zero idea what it is or are all over it. Cheers man.
      Merry Christmas!!!

That’s a fun video. I was looking for the Middlechild ti because I will probably looking at the alloy one just like yours.

Ya, definitely though about including the Ti Middlechild in there, it's my dream bike for sure! But at less than $5,000 for a complete it didn't quite make the "dentist approved" list. Ironically though, that actually makes a much better option for the rest of us normal people lol

I am not a dentist, but trying to decide between the Orbea Alma M LTD and the Mondraker Podium RR SL.

Cool video, I really dig that Sterling stainless frame… something to think about for me 🤔

9:49 Mondraker are not that uncommon in Norway. seen plenty on the second hand market, especially the enduro and DH bikes. even a few xc bikes.
But a silly thing with their full sus bikes is they have a shock going through the seat tube, so limited insertion depth.

Wolftooth has a bike brand that makes the stainless steel Fenrir, which a 100mm ht for bikepacking. It also comes in a Ti version too that is boss looking.

Hey have you even had issues with the bb? I've been scared of the pressed bb vs the threaded bb.

They're super rad and I'd love to ride one some day! I actually reached out to see if he'd be interested in sending a bike to make some content with but sadly declined.

Is this strictly an exercise in how much you can spend on a hardtail or am I missing the part where we learn whether any of these bikes is a pleasure to ride?

Carbon wheels have no place on Hardtails, too stiff !

    • @ridingwithjoshandwendy
      @ridingwithjoshandwendy  Год назад +2

But you'd never (theoretically) have to worry about truing your wheel again, not to mention the weight savings. Is it worth the trade off?
