Great podcast! My issue is for us dudes in the labor industry. Can’t be really wearing barefoot shoes on a live construction site with heavy equipment moving around, frames, and more. So what about people who work in the labor field and how can they improve their feet health or we just fkd?

There are barefoot labour/construction shoes, hard to find though. There are definitely zero drop labour shoe, they are easier to find.

I work in construction every chance I get I take my boots off breaks and lunch, also outside of work I go barefoot as much as possible and have zero drop shoes for when I have to wear shoes.

Zeroshoes makes some passable boots. If you’re required steel toes, in haven’t seen those yet.

@@paulboulanger00 in my industry the zero shoes would last about a week

I work with our manufacturing planet and our company has very specific rules about what are acceptable shoes to where when in the facility. They are so pro safety but don't make a lot exemptions for things. All that being said, I think the best thing to do is to continue to educate people and maybe start up a shoe company that can made steel shoes or whatever requirements y'all have. I'm considering reaching out to exist shoe companies and asking if there are plans make steal toe shoes.

You can increase the stretch of toes then scrunch with their big toe off the ground.U can also strengthen in extension as well which is used for downhill running

  • @andrewhall6695
    @andrewhall6695 2 года назад

U can dry brush using brushes of different stiffness and it is fascia ur working on
If ur are a certain weight by physics u will hit the ground with a certain force and that cannot change. If the foot strengthen the foot reaction to the ground becomes nearly equal the sound becomes less and u appear to run lightly

I barreled through the pain, but I thought I was treating "bunion pain" that was actually I found out later Gout.
Using gout pain as the "this is what I'm avoiding with minimalist shoes" made any moderate discomfort from minimalist shoes absolutely easy to accept.

Dry brushing causes the same increase in blood flow as textured surfaces

Question for Dr. Splichal: In a recent NYT article about training barefoot, you were quoted as saying "lifting a percentage of your bodyweight won't place too much of a strain on your foot, but when lifting significantly more than you weigh, proper shoes become essential as this puts a greater load on the foot than it is capable of handling."
As a strongman competitor (oh so very amateur), this seems to fly in the face of my experience doing things like yoke carries and farmer's carries on a variety of surfaces, both man-made and natural, with 500-600lbs, while wearing extremely minimalist shoes, with no resulting foot dysfunction. On the contrary, I found that using shoes with really any kind of padding or support underneath was detrimental to my performance and stability. Is 2-3x bodyweight not considered significant or is there some other context missing to your quote in the NYT?

Y'all need a demo area with another camera angle so when someone needs to show something we can get a solid view of what's going on. Since so much of what y'all do it about movement that would be pretty cool to show running, positions, stretches, exercises, etc. I love the podcast though!

I felt something snap in my perineum, and immediately I had pain in my feet, and the inside of my right knee. The injury also caused numbness in my testicles and penis, more on the right side. Kind of feels like my testicles might be spazzing. Trying to figure out a solution. Doing Keagles exacerbate the problem but deep breathing seems to relax things. Thank you for this video

I have been wearing barefoot shoes for quite a while now and I have started transitioning to barefoot. Walking on textured surfaces and a little time on gravel every few days.

    • @AnUnhappyBusiness

Did the same and transitioned to barefoot running fully over a year ago now. One thing I can say is that I would have walked barefoot more first, for myself. Would have spared me some extra blisters early on.

I see when first world people teach people to walk do it as a city person.A city person is used to flat surfaces so they don't use their feet for traction and braking. In my country one see the impression of the feet through the sole of the shoe the grabbing of the toe and the arch when walking on sand .I don't because I am a city person
