Fabulous, really great panoramic views of the vast plains, the green and yellow contrast with the canola crops, the shadows and this vast machine gliding effortlessly through it all.
Thank you so much for taking me back .I found myself looking left an right approaching those crossings, looking down the track it all came flooding back..and almost tugging on the whistle cord..just makes me want to return to driving, regards Doc from Down under
Love that you guys use these beautiful EMD rebuilds in daily service. 'ol Edward Henty pulling freight since 1957. I just love the sound of those V16 EMD's.
@@jennyanydots7582 that's okay, thanks for the offer, thankfully I make a little bit of side change out of these vids, a new drone is next. Can't wait to edit some footage together with ground and drone shots! ❤️
Hi Adam, another fantastic video, love the sounds those old EMD's make. It's good to see that country Victoria has had a good lot of rain. Stay safe, cheers Lee.
S317 looks nice wearing Australian National based paint colors. These old EMDs are still great workhorses delivering the grain needed to make bread pasta and more from the farms to a processing facility. Wow
Goodday Adam Absolutely sensational great visually all round, coffee with the video so relaxing even the background music. Still waiting for you to barnstorm through Sunshine. Cheers Louis 👍
Fantastic, as usual Adam. I look out for your new postings all the time. As in many of your previous videos, I often marvel at the faith that you place in the mounting of the Go-Pro when you place it on the outside of the loco.
I thought that flock of sheep were rail kill for sure, glad they didn't get killed. Think of how many drivers it's taken over the decades to get that brake lever so polished and worn lol
Nice one Adam, red soil looks like out this way in western NSW. Try hitting a horse head on at 80KMh in an old 44 class, now that's value! GoPro9 done a good job, happy with mine also. A semaphore signal near Charlton, thought they were gone years ago.
Okay, I see your problem! The engineer is on the wrong side of the cab! Funny to see the old brake valves where you have to return the handle to the lap position after making the reduction.
Haha not as yet but we rest across the road, however we have stopped at the terminus hotel to pick up a meal. There's 2 large photos I took of our trains outside the pub. The night one was when we stopped for a meal.
Not sure what that horn on S302 is called but when I was a kid I knew when I heard that I was in for a treat as it was probably an X class pulling freight 😝
I recognise some of these! They park just near my house in Kensington. I do have a question, when shunting is going on at the grain silos in Kensington, how come the EMDs have sit there with the engine on idling for so long?
Depends on the tike of day, some crews don't shut them down during the day, myself I like to shut them down if they are there all day. But they do have to be running to check oil's.
During the cab scene at approx 9:04, under (what I assume to be the vigilance button), there is a small lever you occasionally hit. What does that do? I’ve seen it in a few locos and it’s always been a mystery
Thank you Adam, great footage! Vic has had timely soaking rain today too. How's the Sea Lake track riding now post maintenance? What's the line speed now?
Yeah the aluminium unit on the co trip stand is a UHF/phone/sat phone in one. So we can talk to other trains, train controllers, and any phone number, sat phone too incase of emergency.
The semaphore signals of today would be electric, that is because there are no more signal boxes operating wire pulled signals. My position on the railways from 79 to 89 was a signal adjuster on the Victorian Railways.
Interesting there's no horm sequence for crossings like in the US. Huge safety thing, I guess people elsewhere are much smarter and stop for trains lol
You assist the driver with general duties, as a fireman, hooking up trains, starting locomotives, checking the train and locos under guidance until you are confident and able to do it on your own with your own possible trainee.
Very good footage, will you please consider making a longer video, say an hour or so? It is next to impossible to view Australian cab rides as they mostly do not exist but they definitely pique my interest.
Goddamn it - I love filthy esses. All is well with the world. Our good broad gauge locomotives running on broad gauge as they should be and turning fat lambs into Vindaloo. Standard gauge in Victoria is for hipsters; I'm deeply suspicious. Must lie down...
The unseen backbone of our country. Keeping our economy moving. Great work to all the hard working rail employees.
It wouldn't be an Aussie train video without a couple of old Falcons sitting in the grass behind a house
Absolutely!

beautiful scenery & great in-cab views too. Nice to see the old EMDs still running

Beautifully shot and edited, I am glad you're able to record these views before they are lost to time forever, keep up the good work. Cheers, Doug.
Excellent work as always, the country scenes at 4:30 are stunning!
Breathtaking and gorgeous scenery. Cheers from Indiana!
Fabulous video , the 567 sound , and the old hasler speedometer . Your partner is nice and relaxed with the feet up.🙂
Love seeing the OLD EMD's on point, thank you for the videos,
Stay safe.
Glad someone’s having a good canola year, because we’re not. Love your videos. Thanks for all the hard work, and the longer they go for the better.
WA is all set for a bumper canola harvest. It looks magnificent.
Yes I hear for the first time in a long time, Australia will beat Canada for canola exports. Should be good for Aussie farmers!

This is great. 😍 Love this type of video and haven’t really seen many filmed in Australia before. The colours are beautiful!
That last little guy almost got turned into a flapjack. Lucky little fluff ball. I was actually scared for it.

Yes the new cast P5. 😊

Thanks for the memories I loved working on those old gm on the south yes there was the spirit aura riv daylight and many high wheelers on the freight

What a top day, lovely colours all about. Thanks for sharing, best wishes.
Thanks for the great ride mate. I enjoyed this and all of your other rides from in the cab and the outside views too.

When your going up the middle of the main street in Wycheproof do you pull up and get a pie at the takeaway?

It's an RVB 3 chime, which has since been replaced with a Nathan P3 on a custom manifold.
It's a new cast Nathan P5, have a look on RUclips for them.
The sheep even go to extreme lengths to get that 2 stroke fix and sound.
Great video friend👍
I wont really to be a train driver 🥺

Maybe I would enjoy this more with just the train sounds, no music at the start. Otherwise it's amazing, deserves lots more views
Nothing wrong with a bit of intro music.
You are my childhood
Rail equivalent of an FJ Holden. But still earning revenue. Amazing.
Bloody awesome views !!!!!!
Fantastic
I never seen a locomotive with the controls on the left side. Do not imagine that 24RS brake valve is pressure maintaining?
In Australia it's common, no this brake is not self maintaining.
I recognise some of these! They park just near my house in Kensington. I do have a question, when shunting is going on at the grain silos in Kensington, how come the EMDs have sit there with the engine on idling for so long?

Yes.... 100 car grain train that would be a sight
An EMD engine and RS5T horn is a marriage ordained by God himself.
During the cab scene at approx 9:04, under (what I assume to be the vigilance button), there is a small lever you occasionally hit. What does that do? I’ve seen it in a few locos and it’s always been a mystery
That's the power/brake selector.
To go from powering to dynamic braking. It's positions are 1/off/B
@@AUSSIETRAINDRIVER Cheers, that clears that up, great video as always.

They are fine. 😊
Thank you Adam, great footage! Vic has had timely soaking rain today too. How's the Sea Lake track riding now post maintenance? What's the line speed now?
Line speed hasn't really changed, the sea lake was the better track, its the Managatang track that's worse for wear.
Nice. How many locos and wagons, and weight of this train? Curious to compare against other countries
This is a small domestic train, 4 locos - 31 wagons on this train, about 2300t when loaded.

Very nice. What's the aftermarket apparatus mounted on the control stand?
Ice radio?

How are multiple engines controlled at the same time to pull?
Through a multi unit cable and air hoses.

Which locos were on this besides Big John
Can't remember now
Are those semaphores functional? :O
Yes they are, if the points are laying for the siding.

Which video setting did you use on GoPro 9? I have one too.
High bit rate 100mbs, either 25fps or 50fps for slow mo. And varying cine/wide or ultra wide angle. 4k of course.
Interesting there's no horm sequence for crossings like in the US. Huge safety thing, I guess people elsewhere are much smarter and stop for trains lol
Yes that's true. We have a long, then short generally but we don't make noise if we don't need too. And there's good visibility.
Hopefully none of the sheep were injured.
Nope all survived
I`m sure the sheep are all fine.. they`d be a lot safer in their own paddock , though.
