what made that reunion in gmw so much worse, is the fact that cory and topanga were literally bestfriends with angela in their hs and college years, and cory treated angela like a parasite and we didn't even get a scene of topanga and angela together.... you're telling me angela didn't keep in contact with any of them?!? especially when cory was the biggest shawn and angela shipper and would fight for them to be together every chance he could get? they fully replaced her with a white woman in that reboot and that literally does not sit right with me. It's so obvious that Shawn and Angela outsold, outshined, outwashed, gobbled up Cory and Topanga. Michael Jacobs didn't like that an interracial couple outshined and was gaining more popularity on his show than his boring & bland white couple, so he broke them up to prop c & t and that failed miserably, because now girl meets world is cancelled after the atrocious things they did to shawn and angela's relationship and everyone prefers shawn and angela over cory and topanga, and HATE shawn and katy! That bs explanation that "they never meshed," when angela and shawn were the same people with different backgrounds and connected, collided, and were literally perfect for eachother is just an outlining that mj couldn't stand that shawn and angela were far more popular and far more superior to cory and topanga. on top of that, he had the audacity to say shawn and angela were "unrealistic," when cory and topanga claimed to be in love since they were two and she gave up an entire college for him, you want to talk ab realism?!? PLEASE. and his explanation on why he didn't make shawn and angela endgame was so tone deaf, shutting down the impact S & A had as an interracial couple by saying "forget the color," which completely diminishes the impact the had as an interracial couple in the 90's. and then saying, "there can only be one cory and topanga," when cory and topanga were unrealistic and toxic, especially in the later seasons and weren't interesting compared to shawn and angela, and shawn and angela were a clearly more relatable and in depth couple than c & t and it makes me pissed that he tried to dismiss that. and worse, he puts shawn with a random blonde white woman that he had no chemistry with and were literally NOTHING compared to shawn and angela's iconic, and interracial and powerful in depth relationship and then destroyed them in girl meets world and vilainized angela all to make shawn maya's stepdad, when he could've been her father figure without marrying her annoing mother. cancellation is what girl meets world deserved after they pulled that mess, and i feel like after they did that to shawn and angela that's what caused it. people were upset what they did to them. looks good on them that reboot was cancelled, karma for thinking they could ruin a beautiful and powerful iconic interracial couple such as shawn and angela and wouldn't face backlash.
The logical solution would have been to give Shawn and Angela their own show. I understand that was 20 year ago, but their audience grew with up them, therefore it makes sense. As a writer those two characters brought so much potential material to the table. Real issues with real wisdom attached in the end. After all, who's been in love since age 2, lived next to and had one educator their entire lives? Shawn and Angela did not. New thought: Some time has passed since I posted my original opinion. Michael Jacobson had the potential to do something huge for this audience and television at large. Twenty plus years prior to BMW, the TV show "All In The Family" by Norman Lear, was the #1 prime time show in America. They were groundbreaking covering a number of social issues. That show launched several spin-off shows one of which was "The Jeffersons". What made the Jeffersons important was that it showed the rise of a working class couple rise to prosperity. Also it featured the first interracial couple in TV history. The actress Roxie Roker portrayed the Black wife in the couple. For those who listen to singer Lenny Kravitz, that was his real life Mother. The point is Michael Jacobson had the opportunity to make a "Shawn and Angela Show" that itself could have been this generation's groundbreaking equivalent or better, even the 2 couple style of "King Of Queens" In this digital age, that show would have appealed to today's global audiences with a wide range of topics. Jacobson could have become the Norman Lear of his time. I guess fear of the unknown, controversy, or failure kept this possibility from happening. I believe it couldn't have been any worse than "Girl Meets World."

I was rewatching the girl meets world clips 🤢 and aside from the fact that they didn’t end up together, Cory and topanga’s daughter was rude to her and it was supposed to be “funny,” Cory came in telling Shawn that Angela was about come in and mess up his life, they played sad music upon her arrival, their daughter was literally apologizing to her friend bc Angela was there, and they cheered in happiness when Angela said she was married basically confirming that she would not return. And every time Shawn talked about her, he talked so down on their relationship. It bothers me so much how every yt character on the original show was treated like royalty and that was the treatment the ONLY black character got
i feel angela was his soul mate....the fact he let her go with her dad was great development cause he lost his dad...its so subtle but thats why he did not fight for her...she chose her dad..he just accepts it.....i love shawn's growth there...its so important to the arc his character went through...its a shame they did not know this in girl meets world

This show was on its way to cancellation in Season 4 (they even wrote jokes about it into the show since they moved to a later time slot). This was around the time Rider wanted to quit. Enter Angela and Jack during Season 5.. as much as people do not want to admit it Shawn’s storylines saved the show, and the Shawngela relationship was the cherry on top. The cast and crew need to be putting respect on their names!
Both of their characters just felt so much more developed . Shawn was so fine and his backstory was so endearing. When angela came on i was like i knew it!
Shawn letting Angela go was honestly the ultimate act of love, and I always hoped they'd they find each other again. There's no amount of distance or time that would stop him from being with her, so finding out they never saw each other again until GMW just tore me tf up. It's just not believable.
It can also show that the great first love is not always the last. Shawn was dating maya's mom. I think Angela was with another in GMW. Disney finally is showing it's ok to have a past and that the first won't always end in marriage, but it doesn't make them bad people.

And the faith that he showed in believing that she would come back to him was a testament to his character development as well as the depth of his love for her. One of the things I admire about the relationship is that they weren't hockey they didn't argue with each other and call each other names all the time when they were upset when they were upset stomach back away gracefully and give the other person space and time to figure things out but they wouldn't call each other names and disrespect each other they had so much respect for each other and it just sucks that it has to be ripped apart
Shawn and Angela all day! Even the acting between (Ryder and Trina) made me feel their emotions. I never really felt those emotions between Cory and Topanga as a viewer watching the show. As you stated, Shawn and Angela actually had obstacles to overcome and not the petty drama Topanga and Cory dealt with. We actually saw Angela and Shawn break down crying when it came to their relationship. I never got anything like that with Cory and Topanga because they were *yawn* (this perfect unrealistic couple) The writers sucked when it came to Shawn and Angela

I believe the producers and creators never expected the audience to react to Shawn and Angela the way they did. In the 90s, unless the show was a predominately black cast, black women tended to be relegated to the friend with no love interest or the interest of the troubled guys that no one should be with. (example Lisa Turtle on SBTB). Corey was the main character to follow and Shawn, being the youth with the troubled past and an inordinate amount of baggage compared to Corey would never be a catch. But when Angela and Shawn came across as more relatable and likable than the main couple, (how many couples do you know that are happily married in their 30s that dated from middle school on, much less since 3?) they started writing things in their story to make them less liked. A huge reason why the new woman on GMW is disliked so much is that both Shawn and Angela's characters had to be ruined to make that pairing work.
And even with the devolution of Shawn and Angela’s characters in GMW, they (Shaty) were still not believable as a couple. Angela still had the chemistry with him in that one scene they had more so than Katy did in the whole show.
I literally grew up with this show and have attended a comic-con panel with the original actors (except Angela, of course). Looking back on the writers' reasoning for keeping Shawn and Angela apart were utter BS and reeks of anti-blackness from start to finish. Shawn fell in love with Angela because of who she was as a person - he finally found his home and stability in her when he didn't have any of that. Even Cory and his family were limited in how much they could really reach Shawn, and the show demonstrated that several times. Angela was the best thing to happen to Shawn, and ripping them apart, especially at the end and the subsequent arc in GWM felt like a slap in the face. Shawn deserved to be happy, and his ending should've involved going to Europe with Angela and her dad. It would've been a perfect opportunity to dive more into his poetry, get closer to her dad, and keep their relationship afloat and figuring out who he really is without Cory's constant foolishness. And let's be real, Topanga settled big time for Cory - it's the elephant in the room no one wants to acknowledge, but it's true - her, Angela, Shawn, and Eric suffered for the sake of Cory's arc in the college-era seasons.
Can you IMAGINE how cute Girl Meets World would have been if it was about Corey and Shawn's kids being best friends?! But no, Shawn had to be sad and get a third rate choice

Hard agree. Rewatching the show as an adult is so annoying because I realize how the writers basically made Topanga give up EVERYTHING for Corey. She literally passes up going to Yale because Corey throws a fit. She starts the show as this strong, feminist character only to be reduced to "everything about my life revolves around Corey." Bro cheats on her multiple times and the writers frame it like it's SO ROMANTIC that she forgives him. WHAT THE FUCK DOES COREY EVER ACTUALLY HAVE TO SACRIFICE FOR TOPANGA?! Any time they have a fight, it's always made out like Topanga is so unreasonable (even when she's not.) Shawn and Angela felt more real, more cohesive, and like they actually cared about EACH OTHER. The relationship didn't solely revolve around what Shawn wanted, which is how it is with Corey and Topanga. But I guess that's why Corey and Topanga are so ideal, right? Because why would a smart, capable, independent woman possibly be allowed to have agency in an on-screen relationship?
Right giving Topanga's character back in season 1 ain't no damn way realistically she would've gave up Yale, YALE bro. She was 28 and married with a child. He was barely out of adolescence and already had a girlfriend at the time. They're actors. Them feeling real just means they're good at their jobs.
FINALLY I have ALWAYS liked Shawn & Angela’s relationship MUCH MORE, it’s was/is more mature, more realistic and just truly superior to Cory & topanga in SO MANY WAYS, I HATED when they “broke up” when it was literally an EPISODE away from the finale, what was the point?? They could have just kept them on and Shawn could have just gone with Angela since he moved with Cory & topanga like some weird third wheel, he could have just gone with Angela to Europe and had a life with her, it would have made MUCH MUCH MOTE SENSE and it would have a more realistic option because childhood friends don’t always just stay together, Shawn & Cory have one of the strongest friendship ever and them getting separated so each can have their own lives is the next progress move that was NEEDED in their relationship, their friendship is strong enough for Shawn to have his own life and to with Angela seriously they should hav Jesuit given us that, Shawn & Angela were/are just truly superior in every possible way, they’re true soulmates, Cory & topanga are just the happened to be there by accident. So an actually good version of girl meets world but centered around Shawn and Angela so it’s not garbage.. but I’m not sure if anyone would even be interested enough to read it since the fandom is so old
I don't count Zack & Lisa as a couple. As far as I was concerned, Shawn and Angela were the first interracial couple that I could see as mature and inspirational. They had a relationship that showed heartbreak, maturity, and how to genuinely love someone for all of their flaws.

Hey I honestly like both couples. I can never really decide which is better because they’re both great. I see Cory and Topanga as the crazy over the top love story that is fiction and pretty much would never happen like it does in the show. And Shawn and Angela are the more realistic couple. I just wish she came on earlier in the show so Shawn and her could have dated for longer. So yes talking about continuity and realism I say Shawn and Angela are better. But most people say Cory and Topanga are because they have more screen time. But they’re both great

(I also want to jump out and say that I think if Cory and Topanga weren’t the over the top couple, Shawn wouldn’t have tried so hard to be with Angela).
I also wanted Angela to be part of the show earlier, maybe S4 instead of S5. Angela could've truly been part of the friend group instead of being in the group because Angela was with Shawn

The whole "there can only be one" assertion is so disturbing to me. Shawn and Angela were their own couple with their own complex relationship. They were not some sort of wannabe Cory and Topanga. To be honest, they would actually far outclass Cory and Topanga if they had to be objectively compared. And then they want to bring up realism? No one can tell me C&T's relationship wasn't run on hopes and dreams alone sometimes. I genuinely think the major reason they lasted was because Cory was the protagonist and high school/college sweethearts is an established trope. But I digress. The idea that these two couples couldn't exist as separate entities who found the happy endings that made sense for each of them *individually* is more disturbing than I can properly explain. They're all long-standing characters who deserved more than being made an example of. I won't even touch on the fact that it was the interracial relationship that just couldn't survive. 😒🙄 If anything killed Shawn and Angela's relationship, it was the inability of writers to remove them from Cory and Topanga's shadow in their minds. BTW Riley and Maya were garbage in this episode (and kinda generally). I absolutely detest when newcomers enter an established situation and start trying to engineer things without knowing anything. You're preteens. You can't even figure yourselves out, and you don't know as much as you think you do. Sit down. I watched Girl meets world before boy meets world, I was obsessed with GMW as a kid a wanted to watch it’s predecessor. I was shocked as to how Angela and Shawn’s relationship actually was on the show. In GMW they basically say that Shawn never really loved Angela and he only dated her because he felt like he had to blah blah blah when that was nothing like how there relationship actually was. Long story short, I’m now a huge Shangela shipper and the writers of the show are hella racist

Shawn and Angela's relationship had depth, it had a story to tell and most importantly I saw myself in Angela. This was the best decision to have shawn have an interracial relationship because it brought a different demographic to the show.

The show could have been different and made Shawn a father figure while in a relationship with Angela therefore respecting the original fans of BMW while also showing kids that family can come from different places in your life not just bc they're related to you, but no. They could’ve even had Maya go to Angela for advice about issues with Katy, since she knew what that was like first-hand as Shawns wife. The producers really missed a Golden opportunity on so many levels.
Screw Michael Jacobs for what he did to Shawn and Angela. The fact that some of the BMW cast members hated working with him and network executives couldn't stand him says alot. He definitely sabotaged them when he noticed the interracial couple he initially put together to make Cory and Topanga "look good" was rapidly gaining popularity and upstaging his unseasoned golden couple.
Shawn & Angela were the better actors, had better chemistry and were more well written characters...9/10. But that's not saying too much as Cory and Topanga are an 8.5 themselves. Both great couples that paralleled very well. S&A were allowed to be mature from jump, C&T had to grow with us.

I saw the continuity errors when I was able to watch the episodes consecutively. The errors were easier to get away with in the 90's when you could only catch the show when it aired or when you could watched it in syndication on another channel.
I actually always like Shawn and Angela more. Their relationship was more realistic. I wanted to see them rekindle their love on GMW but nooooo. Shawn married some valley girl who he didn’t seem to care about that much.
Hell, even Eric and Jack as a couple are wayy less toxic than Cory and Topanga. And they aren't even dating even though I'm pretty sure everyone, including the audience (aka me) just assume it. They actually understand each other. God, I want those two to finally marry and grow old together.

I didn't even watch the last episode of boy meets world because I was disappointed Angela left. Their relationship was so important and way more interesting to watch, so when they were no longer the focus/together at the end, I kinda lost interest in the show all together.
I love and agree with this video a lot. Shawn and Angela were the only couple of their kind, not another Cory and Topanga so making their relationship based upon Cory and Topanga's never made sense. In my opinion, Angela and Shawn understood each other in a much deeper way and weren't breaking up for trivial reasons; they were the more realistic couple. You could make the argument that Lauren matched Cory and connected with him in a way that deserved to be further explored in more episodes; it was more unrealistic to think that he would never meet another person who he could connect with when he'd never really been placed in the position to do so on a real level and not just superficially. Although I liked GMW, I do agree that the show was unfair to Shawn and Angela and everything they were and the premise behind her coming back didn't make sense. Why does she need to see Shawn to know if she should have kids with her husband?? Shouldn't she be clear on that without being her ex boyfriend's encouragement? Why does Shawn need Angela to push his relationship with Katie? Maybe bc he was entering that relationship more for Maya than for Katie, which is what I thought. They didn't develop his relationship with Katie, they developed his relationship with Maya and I believe that's the only reason he married Katie was bc the show wanted him to be Maya's dad since she was the Shawn of the show. Shawn and Angela deserved to be together and I wish they had been in the end.

The logical solution would have been to give Shawn and Angela their own show. I understand that was 20 year ago, but their audience grew with up them, therefore it makes sense. As a writer those two characters brought so much potential material to the table. Real issues with real wisdom attached in the end. After all, who's been in love since age 2, lived next to and had one educator their entire lives? Shawn and Angela did not.

Some time has passed since I posted my original opinion. Michael Jacobson had the potential to do something huge for this audience and television at large. Twenty plus years prior to BMW, the TV show "All In The Family" by Norman Lear, was the #1 prime time show in America. They were groundbreaking covering a number of social issues. That show launched several spin-off shows one of which was "The Jeffersons". What made the Jeffersons important was that it showed the rise of a working class couple rise to prosperity. Also it featured the first interracial couple in TV history. The actress Roxie Roker portrayed the Black wife in the couple. For those who listen to singer Lenny Kravitz, that was his real life Mother. The point is Michael Jacobson had the opportunity to make a "Shawn and Angela Show" that itself could have been this generation's groundbreaking equivalent or better, even the 2 couple style of "King Of Queens" In this digital age, that show would have appealed to today's global audiences with a wide range of topics. Jacobson could have become the Norman Lear of his time. I guess fear of the unknown, controversy, or failure kept this possibility from happening. I believe it couldn't have been any worse than "Girl Meets World."

I was rewatching the girl meets world clips 🤢 and aside from the fact that they didn’t end up together, Cory and topanga’s daughter was rude to her and it was supposed to be “funny,” Cory came in telling Shawn that Angela was about come in and mess up his life, they played sad music upon her arrival, their daughter was literally apologizing to her friend bc Angela was there, and they cheered in happiness when Angela said she was married basically confirming that she would not return. And every time Shawn talked about her, he talked so down on their relationship. It bothers me so much how every yt character on the original show was treated like royalty and that was the treatment the ONLY black character got

This show was on its way to cancellation in Season 4 (they even wrote jokes about it into the show since they moved to a later time slot). This was around the time Rider wanted to quit. Enter Angela and Jack during Season 5.. as much as people do not want to admit it Shawn’s storylines saved the show, and the Shawngela relationship was the cherry on top. The cast and crew need to be putting respect on their names!

Shawn letting Angela go was honestly the ultimate act of love, and I always hoped they'd they find each other again. There's no amount of distance or time that would stop him from being with her, so finding out they never saw each other again until GMW just tore me tf up. It's just not believable.
It can also show that the great first love is not always the last. Shawn was dating maya's mom. I think Angela was with another in GMW. Disney finally is showing it's ok to have a past and that the first won't always end in marriage, but it doesn't make them bad people.

Shawn and Angela all day! Even the acting between (Ryder and Trina) made me feel their emotions. I never really felt those emotions between Cory and Topanga as a viewer watching the show. As you stated, Shawn and Angela actually had obstacles to overcome and not the petty drama Topanga and Cory dealt with. We actually saw Angela and Shawn break down crying when it came to their relationship. I never got anything like that with Cory and Topanga because they were *yawn* (this perfect unrealistic couple)

I believe the producers and creators never expected the audience to react to Shawn and Angela the way they did. In the 90s, unless the show was a predominately black cast, black women tended to be relegated to the friend with no love interest or the interest of the troubled guys that no one should be with. (example Lisa Turtle on SBTB). Corey was the main character to follow and Shawn, being the youth with the troubled past and an inordinate amount of baggage compared to Corey would never be a catch. But when Angela and Shawn came across as more relatable and likable than the main couple, (how many couples do you know that are happily married in their 30s that dated from middle school on, much less since 3?) they started writing things in their story to make them less liked. A huge reason why the new woman on GMW is disliked so much is that both Shawn and Angela's characters had to be ruined to make that pairing work.
And even with the devolution of Shawn and Angela’s characters in GMW, they (Shaty) were still not believable as a couple. Angela still had the chemistry with him in that one scene they had more so than Katy did in the whole show.
I literally grew up with this show and have attended a comic-con panel with the original actors (except Angela, of course). Looking back on the writers' reasoning for keeping Shawn and Angela apart were utter BS and reeks of anti-blackness from start to finish. Shawn fell in love with Angela because of who she was as a person - he finally found his home and stability in her when he didn't have any of that. Even Cory and his family were limited in how much they could really reach Shawn, and the show demonstrated that several times. Angela was the best thing to happen to Shawn, and ripping them apart, especially at the end and the subsequent arc in GWM felt like a slap in the face. Shawn deserved to be happy, and his ending should've involved going to Europe with Angela and her dad. It would've been a perfect opportunity to dive more into his poetry, get closer to her dad, and keep their relationship afloat and figuring out who he really is without Cory's constant foolishness. And let's be real, Topanga settled big time for Cory - it's the elephant in the room no one wants to acknowledge, but it's true - her, Angela, Shawn, and Eric suffered for the sake of Cory's arc in the college-era seasons.

Hard agree. Rewatching the show as an adult is so annoying because I realize how the writers basically made Topanga give up EVERYTHING for Corey. She literally passes up going to Yale because Corey throws a fit. She starts the show as this strong, feminist character only to be reduced to "everything about my life revolves around Corey." Bro cheats on her multiple times and the writers frame it like it's SO ROMANTIC that she forgives him. WHAT THE FUCK DOES COREY EVER ACTUALLY HAVE TO SACRIFICE FOR TOPANGA?! Any time they have a fight, it's always made out like Topanga is so unreasonable (even when she's not.) Shawn and Angela felt more real, more cohesive, and like they actually cared about EACH OTHER. The relationship didn't solely revolve around what Shawn wanted, which is how it is with Corey and Topanga.
But I guess that's why Corey and Topanga are so ideal, right? Because why would a smart, capable, independent woman possibly be allowed to have agency in an on-screen relationship?

The whole "there can only be one" assertion is so disturbing to me. Shawn and Angela were their own couple with their own complex relationship. They were not some sort of wannabe Cory and Topanga. To be honest, they would actually far outclass Cory and Topanga if they had to be objectively compared.
And then they want to bring up realism? No one can tell me C&T's relationship wasn't run on hopes and dreams alone sometimes. I genuinely think the major reason they lasted was because Cory was the protagonist and high school/college sweethearts is an established trope. But I digress.
The idea that these two couples couldn't exist as separate entities who found the happy endings that made sense for each of them *individually* is more disturbing than I can properly explain. They're all long-standing characters who deserved more than being made an example of. I won't even touch on the fact that it was the interracial relationship that just couldn't survive. 😒🙄 If anything killed Shawn and Angela's relationship, it was the inability of writers to remove them from Cory and Topanga's shadow in their minds.
BTW Riley and Maya were garbage in this episode (and kinda generally). I absolutely detest when newcomers enter an established situation and start trying to engineer things without knowing anything. You're preteens. You can't even figure yourselves out, and you don't know as much as you think you do. Sit down. Katy did not need a man that badly, and Shawn could've been an effective father figure without becoming a literal step-father or even being single. I cannot stress this enough. We need to normalize men having positive, completely platonic, non-predatory interactions and relationships with young girls.

I would like a spin off where Sean and Angela get together and Corey and them are just side characters that pop in from time to time! But really you have to understand the times back then where interracial couples were taboo especially a white male adoring and loving on a black girl who was openly black and a lot of racism in Hollywood I think def came into play…. I’m sure the show runners were afraid to get cancelled if shawn’s relationship was anything more than a side filler….. however the fact that it was interracial I feel really drove the ratings wild for the good and the bad …… and though #shawngela was a hit some racist people refuse to give black people their flowers no matter what the circumstances….. now if that show was going on right now we all know Shawn and Angela’s relationship would get sooooo much airtime lol look at the show “mixed-ish” …… but I digress this was a really good video
I watched Girl meets world before boy meets world, I was obsessed with GMW as a kid a wanted to watch it’s predecessor. I was shocked as to how Angela and Shawn’s relationship actually was on the show. In GMW they basically say that Shawn never really loved Angela and he only dated her because he felt like he had to blah blah blah when that was nothing like how there relationship actually was. Long story short, I’m now a huge Shangela shipper and the writers of the show are hella racist

Abso-freaking-lutely 💯 Cory and topanga were annoying to me, and they were unrealistic in the way they came together. Shawn and Angela's relationship had depth, it had a story to tell and most importantly I saw myself in Angela. This was the best decision to have shawn have an interracial relationship because it brought a different demographic to the show.
Cory and Topanga had such a toxic relationship in bmw. In gmw, they’re just the cliche “hAhAhhahaha siLLy husBaND hAS sMaRt wiFe” you see in a lot of shows. They should’ve been friends, they would’ve (and did) had such a sweet friendship
Shawn and Angela were THEE moment and GMW (other than being very mediocre) is dead to me. Plus Shawn and Katy weren't interesting, they had no spark, no chemistry. The only reason they were put together was so Maya could have a "Dad" and by God was that apparent.
The show could have been different and made Shawn a father figure while in a relationship with Angela therefore respecting the original fans of BMW while also showing kids that family can come from different places in your life not just bc they're related to you, but no. They would have had to give Trina and Angela some respect for that and well...😒
They could’ve even had Maya go to Angela for advice about issues with Katy, since she knew what that was like first-hand as Shawns wife. The producers really missed a Golden opportunity on so many levels.

Screw Michael Jacobs for what he did to Shawn and Angela. The fact that some of the BMW cast members hated working with him and network executives couldn't stand him says alot. He definitely sabotaged them when he noticed the interracial couple he initially put together to make Cory and Topanga "look good" was rapidly gaining popularity and upstaging his unseasoned golden couple.
They are the ones that could have had a spin off let’s be honest.
Shawn & Angela were the better actors, had better chemistry and were more well written characters...9/10.
But that's not saying too much as Cory and Topanga are an 8.5 themselves. Both great couples that paralleled very well.
S&A were allowed to be mature from jump, C&T had to grow with us.

That is not what any of us got from the original the show. Shawn and Angela were shown to be different from Corey and Topanga and that seemed to be the point. They weren't ment to be them, they were a unique couple in their own right and they never came off like they "didn't mesh" and couldn't truly end up together.
I said it before and I will say it again. Corey and Topanga were ALWAYS gonna end up together so there were no real surprises there if you think about it because it was how it was gonna end. Shawn and Angela were the couple that was the most real on the show. I agree 100% with you

I saw the continuity errors when I was able to watch the episodes consecutively. The errors were easier to get away with in the 90's when you could only catch the show when it aired or when you could watched it in syndication on another channel.
I actually always like Shawn and Angela more. Their relationship was more realistic. I wanted to see them rekindle their love on GMW but nooooo. Shawn married some valley girl who he didn’t seem to care about that much.

I didn't even watch the last episode of boy meets world because I was disappointed Angela left. Their relationship was so important and way more interesting to watch, so when they were no longer the focus/together at the end, I kinda lost interest in the show all together.

I love and agree with this video a lot. Shawn and Angela were the only couple of their kind, not another Cory and Topanga so making their relationship based upon Cory and Topanga's never made sense. In my opinion, Angela and Shawn understood each other in a much deeper way and weren't breaking up for trivial reasons; they were the more realistic couple. You could make the argument that Lauren matched Cory and connected with him in a way that deserved to be further explored in more episodes; it was more unrealistic to think that he would never meet another person who he could connect with when he'd never really been placed in the position to do so on a real level and not just superficially. Although I liked GMW, I do agree that the show was unfair to Shawn and Angela and everything they were and the premise behind her coming back didn't make sense. Why does she need to see Shawn to know if she should have kids with her husband?? Shouldn't she be clear on that without being her ex boyfriend's encouragement? Why does Shawn need Angela to push his relationship with Katie? Maybe bc he was entering that relationship more for Maya than for Katie, which is what I thought. They didn't develop his relationship with Katie, they developed his relationship with Maya and I believe that's the only reason he married Katie was bc the show wanted him to be Maya's dad since she was the Shawn of the show. Shawn and Angela deserved to be together and I wish they had been in the end.
