When I started out as a tech 45 yrs ago ( still at it by the way) there were only GP assistants, residents and Med students holding retractors. We’ve come a long way!
SO AWESOME that you go/went over a couple sets (mjr and minor) as well as the bookwalter. As a CP Tech, I have a lot more appreciation for putting these sets together as well as a great appreciation for ALL your OR “FAMILY/pit crew.” 1000x... Thank You for these videos and channel.
I stumbled upon your channel last week and I love it. I've had 34 surgeries and it's amazing to me the amount of work that goes into just getting the room and instruments ready before the patient is brought in. Thanks for all you do, Shane.
Thanks for this. Your honesty is great. So glad I worked as a SPD tech for years. As I’ve seen so many of the table mounted retractable systems but never actually saw how they were used. Thanks.
Thank you so much! Very informative, Im new as an OR Technician and I am having a hardtime understanding and memorizing every equipment. Please download more videos. Help me please 🙏🏼
I think it would be interesting to do a video briefly on STARS reports you might get in the operating room. Also maybe room preparation for DNV MIR inspections. Love the vids!
Hey help me out your video was great but will you please make a video of how to manage tubing and wires and drapes both the drapes that have the Velcro strap and tubing holders and also the ones that do not and you have to use a clamp to manage your drapes about how you manage keeping the cords and hoses in the sterile field as you’re moving on to pass them off the sterile field and you keep them secure in the sterile field. Also can you guys make some regional draping videos?
Thanks for your videos. I am in STERILE PROCESSING but, it helps to know how the surgeons and techs use the instruments. Although I subscribe I searched for "Bookwalter." Your videos are always very professional. - Thanks again. 👍
Hello, I work for JSS, a medical instrument trading company in Japan. We work with Symmetry surgical and currently sell the BW retractor in Japan. Do you think it is possible for us to translate your video into japanese and post this video on our site as well? Thanks alot Ryan
This is completely off topic but at 2:56 I see the blue robot cable coiled on the wall, does this remain on the wall during robotic cases and gets dispensed as needed for docking or is it just used as a way to store the cable off the ground when the robot is not in use? I ask because we run 4 robots at one of the ORs I work at and we're always trying to improve the rooms in which they reside. Thanks! Your channel is awesome!
I thought he was going to demonstrate that my friend. I thought that would be helpful for the new Tech on the job and students as well. There is a lot to count in such little time in an emergency tripple A.
What’s funny is that in my department it’s labelled incorrectly as “Buck Walter” & I assumed it was named after some big American surgeon called Buck Walter 😂😂😂

How do you count the bookwalter when you do cases?
I thought he was going to demonstrate that my friend. I thought that would be helpful for the new Tech on the job and students as well. There is a lot to count in such little time in an emergency tripple A.
Open abdominal cases.
My surgeon Dr. Javier Magrina from the Mayo Clinic Hospital in Phoenix, AZ. Had a hand in the invention of the Bookwalter : )

What’s funny is that in my department it’s labelled incorrectly as “Buck Walter” & I assumed it was named after some big American surgeon called Buck Walter 😂😂😂

Hey idk if your hospital has one, but could you do a video on a hybrid OR? I think that would be interesting. Thanks.
Noice!!!!!
I’ll punch that set right in the kissa’.I hate having to add you to the count Mr.Bookwalter
