I like group standings a lot. :-) Your math was right this time. Astounding! There’s definitely a lot going on … For those who don’t want to watch Nallerheim’s 30+ minutes of standings musings (from 1:04:00 onwards), here’s the gist: 3 wins likely won’t be good enough for playoffs for at least 1 team, but there’s one set of results where there are only 4 3rd place teams with 3 wins (UK, ROM, COL, PT, FIN, MEX would all need to win their games). As a German player I’m rooting for that scenario. ;-)
Group A: tiebreakers of top 3 are good enough to qualify for playoffs, even a 0:5 (0:10) in their last matches likely wouldn’t change that …
Group B: ROM could get 3rd place, but would be out anyway as there are already 2 3rds with 3 W and there’ll be at least 2 more (JPN vs. ESP, GER vs. BEL). UK could drop to 4th with 1:4 or 0:5 and GRE winning 5:0 or 4:1 - depending on games diff.
Group C: Top 3 are quite safe, but a 5:0 by CAT would make things interesting. ;) They even could get to 2nd place if Latvia would lose 0:5.
Group D: FRA is quite safe, considering they are heavy favorites against Peru, even a 2:3 (or 1:4) might be enough to secure 2nd place.
BEL and GER need to win at least 4:1 and hope for matches in other groups to go their way to get 4th best 3rd. (Most crucial UK winning against Italy and ARG winning ideally 3:2 +3 or +4 against MEX to pass both on games difference tiebreakers - definitely a long shot.)
    Group E:
HK would need a commanding win against FIN to have a shot at 4th best 3rd. HK could *in theory* overtake both PT and TUT, if TUT would win 4:1 (8:6) against PT and HK 5:0 (10:0 against FIN). If PT would lose 1:4 or 0:5, they could drop to 4th. TUT would need a 4:1 or better to get to 2nd place. A 3:2 might not be enough to secure 3rd place if HK wins 4:1.
In reality PT just needs a 2:3 to secure 2nd place and HK should gun for a 5:0.
Group F: Winner of JPN vs. ESP will go to the playoffs. If MEX loses against ARG they might lose out on 4th best 3rd, if it’s 2:3 (4:8) or worse ARG will pass them. same goes for POL if they’d lose 1:4 or worse against LIT. A Polish 2:3 should be enough to secure a good enough 3rd place. But there’s an outside chance for ARG to win the group with a 5:0 (10:0) against MEX, ESP - JPN 3:2 (6:7) and POL - LIT 2:3 e. g.

@@nallerheim Well, I needed to know whom to root for so we (GER) will still have a chance on Sunday. As it’s quite the convoluted situation I had to take some notes. Why not share them? … yeah, and while I’m at it anyway, expand them a teeny tiny bit. 😃
