Hi Andrew - I found your channel today after searching for videos of people talking about their experiences running in a barefoot style of shoe. Then I saw you also had videos about van build/van life! I've been watching van life videos for years, because I often align with the perspectives and values (minimalism; simplicity; intentional living; an interest in health/nutrition/overall well-being/exercise; experiencing different places and environments; escaping the rat race, etc.) of those voluntarily living that lifestyle. I've enjoyed the vlogs of yours that I've watched. Hope you'll keep at them. :-)
Hey Tara, yea, barefoot shoes and van life definitely seem to be entry points to minimal/intentional living for a lot of people, that's how the journey started for me. More build videos coming soon! (:
It's so important to have someone you can talk to. I'm lucky to have a close friend and we tell each other anthing we need to talk about. Mental, physical, sexual, doesn't matter, we can talk about it. We can tell each other the things we know we don't want to hear. We've grown a lot together since meeting 12 years ago. I hope that opening up has and continues to improve your life!
That's true, there aren't many things in life better than having a friend who knows you at a deep level and helps you become a better person.
I love the experience of talking with strangers about what's on my heart, sometimes more so than those I'm "close" to. Privacy can be confusing & once you get into the swing of being open it does feel boundless as you described! 🌳 🌲
"the swing of being open" Love it, what a great phrase! True, opening up to strangers does often have a more powerful effect than sticking with the comfort of people you already know.
Great points, man!
Living an open life is honestly easier by default as humans due to our prosocial behavioral tendencies, even early in our development. That said, I completely agree with you that being unprivate is nice. I also feel you strongly on having had not wanting to share for the reasons you listed, and it's still a struggle, which I imagine could be at times for you, too. When you mentioned skinniness being a "rejection of the outside world", I laughed because of how unique that comparison was to me at face value, but then sat up and realized how right you are. As a fellow lifelong skinny person, having anxiety and autism definitely make me reject much of what comes to me, and yeah, perhaps that's connected.
All that to say, I really like your content and I'm glad I stumbled upon you! Grateful to enjoy you bein' open with us. :)
Aw thanks, yo! Glad you vibed with the video. It does seem like a lot of people on the autism spectrum are skinny with autoimmune issues, which can manifest as pickiness/rejection of various sorts. Interestingly, when I started going deep on nutrition with a knowledgable practitioner I found that a lot of my social anxiety, etc, was caused not by having "this" or "that" fixed personality trait, but by food and lack/imbalance of key nutrients (iodine, copper, magnesium, etc). But anyways, cool stuff on your channel and props on using Notion for a website. Love Notion!
I just discovered you a few weeks ago, and I have been thoroughly pleased that I did. Thank you for sharing everything you share with us. You are a good human. ❤
Thanks! They should change the RUclips buttons from "Dislike/Like" to "Dislike/Thoroughly Pleased," ha. Will keep sharing as I go. "Meanderin Oranges" Clever! Cheers!
@@AndrewFolts haha, clever!
Awesome username B-)
Love you man. You’re my fav person on RUclips and, whether you believe it or not, you have charisma.🙂
Thanks, Ernesto! It's a great feeling when you find a channel you vibe with. (:
Thanks for sharing! You are making a diference with your honesty and simplicity. Its really fresh air!
Nice of you to say, Artur! Glad you're enjoying the vids. I'll keep cranking 'em out. (:
That’s an interesting insight about being skinny and introverted and rejecting the outer world. I can relate to that; but I’d never thought about it before.
I think it occurred to me after I started having autoimmune/hyperthyroid problems. Like, at a basic level, it's a case of rejecting too much, to the point where you start even "rejecting" yourself.
You seem like a cool dude and I love your topics. I feel we are very comparable in many ways and I just want you to remember that you are not alone and plenty people look forward to and love your content. Keep smiling, its difficult out there but its always a bit easier with a smile. If you ever need a free friend to vent to, reach out to me.
I push barefoot styles shoes also, lol. Nowhere near what you do but I wish. Not paid but free merch 👍.
Woah the lacing on those pad sandals you reviewed looks wild! There's plenty of space for more people making barefoot videos. Just think about what specific problems you have that no one's solving in a satisfactory way, then make videos about. That's pretty much all I did. Cheers, yo!
@@AndrewFolts thank you. I will definitely keep that in mind. I only care about helping others out because I found amazing results with the transformation. I'm the only runner in my run groups that use sandals; leading to why It feels so normal and strange to me at the same time.
Thank you! That’s exactly what I needed to hear 😊.
You're welcome, Audrey. Appreciate you hanging out! (:
Sounds like you have to break out of your shell or get out of your comfort zone and be completely honest about your feelings about your life. Positive energy and good intentions can make your life better ✌️
Yea, nothing every changes inside one's comfort zone. Outside it, though, most anything is possible! (:
@@AndrewFolts smoke some weed, drink a little, have some fun, and take some risks ! Don’t break the law tho or get into any trouble lol not those kinds of risks ! Try new hobbies and meet new people and visit new places is what I mean !! You’ll be alright!
I enjoy your unprivate journey. Keep it up.
Appreciate you hanging out, William. Unprivatizing the world one video at a a time, ha!
I just discovered you recently because of my interest in trying to get barefoot shoes (I still havent gotten one. Haha). But, more than that, Im happy looking forward to your videos. Hey bud, you are courageous! I couldnt do what you did yet...and I want to let you know...RESPECT! You're not alone, I care, we all care. Keep doing great, bud!
Right on! If you have shoe questions at some point, just let me know. as for filming/unprivateness, it's just a matter of practice, like anything else in life. My first video was literally terrible, ha.
Andrew, thank you for sharing this! I struggle with my physical image as a skinny person too.
Thank you for being brave enough to begin the journey of being open about your mental health!
Would you ever be open to meeting any of your fans in person?
Yea, it's definitely swimming against the current to be skinny, but I found that once I let go of weightlifting and just walked and ran my body felt much more "balanced"-a single whole, rather than all these separate muscles I had to work on. You become more confident, mentally, like a warrior who fights with two swords and no shield/armor, ya know?
Thanks!
Aw thanks, Jimmy! Glad you got some joy out of the video. Have a lovely autumn! (:
Great video ❤
Thanks! Appreciate you, Gill. (:
Have you seen camera conspiracies/vegetable police channels? Perhaps you should start another channel also?
Funny enough, this video is a re-upload from my vlog channel, which I'm sunsetting. I have seen Casey's channels, but I found that, for me, one was more than enough to manage. I was getting frazzled having to switch between accounts.
