I'm sure Bella had something to do with the strap conger, cherry on the cake. 11 species is a great result. Brilliant guy's, as always best wishes Chris.
Hi Chris I always say hello to her walking past the teeth!! Still miss her eating all the squid!😂😂 so glad you enjoyed the video thanks again for watching cheers ian
Great video once again, don't think I've ever been so pleased to watch someone reel in a strap. Well done to the both of you. I think size 1 or 1/0 Kamasan B940 is my favourite all round hook, I usually go for the long shank version. Landed double figure Cod and Bass on them by accident when general fishing (my favourite type of fishing), very strong and very sharp and keep there point better than most.
So pleased you enjoyed the video!! Like you I’ve landed some good fish on the 940’s they are not going to straighten on you. These days I rarely use big hooks unless using a strip of fish or mackerel head etc. My catches don’t seem to be adversely affected either. Cheers ian
Hi Glen so glad you enjoyed the video I’m not sure I liked the pressure to catch on that trip but it made an interesting video in the end!! Take care mate cheers ian
Hi thanks for watching! Was a lovely session and although the walk is a killer it usually pays dividends and in a perverse way it sort of adds to the whole experience…..sort of!!😂😂 Keeps me relatively fit too though I’m feeling it today!!! Cheers glad you enjoyed watching cheers ian

Hello Chris and Ian brilliant watch as always well done on passing your target with the Species Hunt Chesil Beach is amazing. I am planning to go next year for a week 🤞with your videos and the information which I am taking notes with venues, tides, conditions and baits its a fantastic help along with the Wayne The Shore Hunter can't wait to fish Chesil again thank you Chris and Ian looking forward to the next one and tight lines to both🎣👍
You are so kind thanks for your lovely words! RUclips channels are great for information gathering all the information you need is in various videos! Best months are probably October/November when all the species are available as you just saw. I look forward to seeing how you get on next year!!! Thanks for a really enjoyable video. Starting fishing this year, mainly lures, soft worms and that. Usually off the sea wall at the Nothe gardens in Weymouth. Not caught much of anything, but enjoy it anyway. Just trying to learn a bit is fun.

@@ianclarkfishingHi Ian, the mullet did fight well and lived to see another day. Just under 50cm. It fought better than some bass I caught but then again, no fish ever the same. I will give it a go beyond the Teeth but better walking gear next time, that shingle is tough 🥵
Hi Niall glad you enjoyed the video!! Going to be windy but fishable this weekend should be cod about. May be weedy especially at Ferrybridge I would stick to Abbotsbury personally. Big leads lugworm!! Good luck cheers ian

Hi Ian, I'm fairly new to shore fishing, any tips on how you keep your line taught in winds? 6oz grip lead ofc. Mine always seems to bow around and into the surf... anyhow, great video! Cheers Josh
Hi josh lovely to hear from you! In a strong wind or big surf a big grip lead is definitely essential. The further out beyond the breaking waves you can get the better. You must keep the rod as high as possible. When casting out go upwind about 20 yards and let the lead settle then slowly wind down to get a nice bend in the rod tip. If you get slack line then you gently tighten down again. Hopefully that helps cheers ian
@@ianclarkfishing should that not be uptide as well as taking the wind into account, then let line out till you get to your rest, then slowly tighten up, plus weed would effect it too
Great stuff guys, 39 species off chesil so far ! Any that would never be caught again you think ?? Checked my list and I'm at a lowly 16 !! Going back Monday (weather permitting) to try and add to the tally
Chesil certainly has the ability to throw up virtually any species at all and that’s part of the fun fishing there I think!! Good luck Monday if I could I would be there again with you!!! Thanks for watching again cheers ian
Hi Andy glad you enjoyed the video. It’s maximum 20 minutes to the teeth if you walk behind the beach most of the walk is on grass which is a lot easier than the shingle!!! Cheers ian
I fished Chesil back in the '60s and early '70s but having lived in Norfolk for many years now the journey down was a problem. I'm in my mid 70s now so don't want to walk too far up the bank.
Hi Anthony lovely to hear from you!! Late May brilliant for the smoothound fishing there were plenty this year up to low double figures. Caught mine on rag or crab. September/ October best months of the year you can catch everything then!! Suggest Abbotsbury or West Bexington as sea right by car parks!!! @@ianclarkfishing Thanks Ian I shall be prepping my tackle over the next few months as most of it is what I used 50 years ago, still in good order though.

Hi lovely to hear from you. No problem if your mobility is compromised. At West Bexington the car park is right on the beach very easy access. At Abbotsbury it’s a 100 yard walk on a wooden walkway to the beach!! I hope you get down here to enjoy it soon! Cheers ian
@@ianclarkfishing thanks ian ill try to get down there before the weather turns nasty ,i live in kent so it will be a long drive but should be worth the journey fingers crossed.
Legend Awesome ✌
Cheers for that! Glad you enjoyed the video thanks for watching and taking the time to comment cheers ian
Have you caught an Angler Fish there? ..
Hi Charlie thanks for watching! No never caught one though I heard of one a year or so ago was caught at Ferrybridge. Anything can turn up on Chesil I think!!! Cheers ian
did you keep a record of what was caught on what bait?
Hi John do you mean on this video?? Cheers ian
@@ianclarkfishing yes, years ago we would only use blow lug, but as the fishing died, we cut back and took fish, quid and sand eel to beef it up as it was cheaper
Always use lug and rag plus squid……they take the vast majority of our fish!!
great vid and session ,and achievement, but i would not trust you to count my share of any money out ,lol .ATB les
Yeah well I knew we were struggling on the species so I thought I would try and be sneaky!😂 no such luck!! Lovely to hear from you as always Les take care mate cheers ian
