@@ClokworkGremlin yes really! Check out pimax crystal super 50ppd 135deg FOV. Vive or any other todays headset are less than 105deg. My 5year old pimax 5k+ is 150deg FOV and no way would I settle for binoculor vision of most headsets of today like quest or vive etc...
20% higher resolution and RGB vs Pentile, but LCD instead of OLED. The colors will be better on PSVR2, but the lens quality is actually higher on the Focus Vision. Worth noting, the only two headsets with higher quality displays than the PSVR2 are the Quest 3 (which spies on you) and the Bigscreen Beyond (which costs twice as much, and headphones, base stations, and controllers are sold separately.) Both have RGB Stripe OLED displays an pancake lenses.
Fresnel lenses and plain-jane LCD panels. If this thing came out in 2022 it would have been very very appealing and clear upgrade from a Reverb G2. But fresnel lenses just cannot be taken seriously in 2024 when the Quest 3 has HUGE pancakes. It is a shame I cannot put my eyes in them to test for myself without buying it though. It's the biggest problem with buying a VR headset. If you tell me these are very good fresnels with a huge sweetspot, maybe it could be good. But without seeing it for myself I have to wait for what else the market may offer in 2025.
@@williessssss If you want to pay a bit more the MeganeX headset is coming early next year, or maybe the Pico4 Ultra if you don't like Meta. My point is though, this is old tech, not worth the money.
Personally I’ll consider “NEW” VR headset those with FoV more than 170° degrees of horizontal view. I’m bored to wear a “scuba mask”… (My personal opinion)
The DisplayPort streaming kit works great and I hope other's like Meta include this in the future. Unfortunately the poor fresnel lens with small sweet spot and low vertical FOV (important for flight sims to see more of the cockpit). So, I ended up returning it for a refund. Hopefully Vive will release a VFV2 that includes pancake lens, better quality Qled screens with local dimming, ringless controllers, and a newer chip.
this couldve been a killer headset if it want for the fresnel lenses and 90hz refresh rate cap, it had so many grat features, but they screwed it up sadly... displayport was something i had been waiting for in a modern headset, but then they had to mess it up with mediocre optics
If anyone is coming to this video to see if they should buy this headset... Don't. the fresnel lenses are horrible. I own a quest 3 and quest pro and play vrchat for 1000's of hours. I tried one night with this headset and my eyes hated me. The next day I went back to my quest pro and it was like going from coke bottle bottoms back to a clear window. Yes I get compression over virtual desktop with the quest pro, but the lenses on the vision are so bad it doesn't matter.
Focus Vision: $1000 for outdated lenses / LCD screen. Quest 3: Compression is an absolute mess in PCVR, and Quest Link is a buggy slog. Bigscreen Beyond: Pay nearly $1500 (headset + controllers + base stations) for a headset with a smaller FOV than the anything else on the list. Pimax Crystal Light: Perfect on paper, a complete dice-roll in reality, weighs a metric ton so it's only good for seated simming anyway. The absolute STATE of PCVR in 2024 is abysmal. The combination of the hardware woes with the lack of developer interest in creating any VR games that aren't just "Omg this arcade game is so cool for 5 minutes", I don't see mainstream VR surviving for much longer.
you said it. I've been waiting for years for something to buy. I will pull the trigger in a second when something checks the boxes. I don't get why this has been such a wasteland. everything has a major issue. nothing has good blacks since what was it the vive pro or vive pro 2? i forget which. everyone is worried about these standalones. bro just give me something like the valve index package that is new and better in all the areas with no glaring flaws. ill buy it. ill pay a few hundred extra for it even. theres nothing. ill just keep playing on my og launch vive scuba glasses until something takes my money
$999 for Fresnel :(
For 999 Gold coins i rly would know how it works with DCS , including Eye tracking - maybe compared to quest 3, pico4 and pimax crystal :)
Fresnel... deal breaker
fov sucks too
@@vracan Really? According to VR-Compare, it's got a wider rated FOV than even the OG Vive.

Facebook thoroughly destroyed the market for these types of headsets with the Q3 lol. Just completely ate their lunch.
How does display technology compare to PS VR2? Looking to get a standalone VR, but not sure if I'd be happy coming to this from my PS VR2
You wouldn't, unless you're rocking a good PC and don't mind the fresnel lens
@ okay, I have a 4080 and 7800x3d. Still not sure now :D
Buy a quest 3 instead of this junk

I would be also satisfied it I got this outdated stuff for free to review too.
Is it possible to know if this VR headset does wireless PCVR as well as the Quest 3?
sponsored video, ignore, same as all the Pimax sponsored videos

You saved yourself some money, the lenses are horrible. I don't know why he's saying the sweet spot is big... it's not.
Awful reviews on reddit, this might have been half decent 5 years ago. There is much better than this now, or on the horizon.
Got examples for around this price? I'm looking to have a separate one from my PS VR2, but I don't want anything from Meta/Facebook.
"horizon" I see what you did there.....

Latest update raised the cap to 120Hz over DisplayPort.
The next relevant advancements in VR are 180 degree FOV and 144hz. That's when VR will have arrived. This is not an advancement; it's a sales gimmick.
