I am a woman writing on my husbands account at the moment. "The Minute Your Gone" was the first record I ever purchased because I loved this song so much , I was 15 years old when it came out . Wow so many many decades ago . You know we all loved Elvis I thought he was the greatest thing since sliced bread .
I remember my father was bewildered and couldn't understand why I didn't buy an Elvis record . My answer to him was "Dad you will understand when you listen to this song " I played him "The Minute Your Gone" and told him it was by a British singer called Cliff Richard . Dad fell in love with the song too including the singer as I had . We were a migrant family living in Australia so he really didn't know who was who in the current music scene at the time except for Elvis of coarse , hec who on the planet didn't know who Elvis was. It was so funny Dad said to me "what ? so no more Elvis for you now ". My response was are you kidding "now its Elvis and Cliff Dad"
This was and is a truly beautiful song and it was also sang so beautifully by a darling of a man ...... Sir Cliff Richard. I still love him to this day . Thank you so much for this video .

Cliff would be the last man outstanding! He would outlive many of his contemporaries. I don’t like The Beatles which interrupted the airwaves of my radio. I was not impressed by their catchy songs. Cliff is everlasting!

"At that time, The Beatles were taking off in the States and anyone who had a #1 here was guaranteed a Top 5 there, including The Bachelors, who weren't rock artists as such but had a huge hit. I thought it was my big chance but the US record company said it wasn't right for their market. Hello? What wasn't right? It was #1 in many countries."’ . I learned a couple of months ago that Elvis was aware of Cliff very much. Cliff was well known in Hong Kong as Britain’s Elvis. It is very likely that Elvis had seen Cliff as his arch rivalry. Elvis had a team of Mafia mobs around him as his body guards and they did a lot of things to safeguard his career. Elvis’ successful career brought fortune and the money could feed these type of people. Hmm! There must be some dirty games in America to hinder Cliff’s market in the U.S.. Anyhow, I never like Elvis. He is not my kind of rock star. Cliff is refined but Elvis was too coarse.
