- We took a canoe trip 10 miles back into the Okefenokee Swamp. It was an experience I will never forget. We witnessed a black bear crossing the water, roughly 80 alligators from our departure to our return, as well as numerous other species. I hope you enjoy the footage from our trip as much as we did!

I paddled an old, Old Town wooden canoe from Fargo GA where the Suwannee River exits the Okefenokee to the Gulf of Mexico in 1954 when I was 10 years old. An adventure of a lifetime. Love that country. Thanks for posting, brings back great memories.
Thank you for your comment! It was definitely a great experience. I really hope to get back and do it in the fall when the weather is nice. Glad you enjoyed the video!
My step dad took us canoeing here growing up ❤ so nostalgic. And that will be an interesting book that I will have to read ! Thank you for sharing 🙏
Cool! No problem, glad you enjoyed!
Uncle Lucius “keep the wolves away” great song and enjoyed the video
Thank you!!!
My dad was raised in Waresboro before his dad died in 1923 him and his granddaddy would go sain some deep holes during the summer and he always loved the Okefenokee swamp he carried me and my brother several times,I saw you in a canoe too many Gators I didn't feel real safe in a 4x16 foot flat boat
We counted 60-70 gators throughout our trip in and out. Luckily they didn’t pay us much attention. Sounds like your dad had some great times out there. This was a really fun trip for me and I hope to go back someday
That looks so fun. I think I will plan a trip for my daughter and I this year
You should do it, it’s a good time!
Just be prepared for the insects if you go in the spring or summer. I would definitely go in the fall!
Been there sat on the Suwannee River seal the Gators were huge. Stayed at Stephen C Foster the mosquitoes were unbelievable. Raccoon would come up at night and try to get in the coolers but had a great time
Yep the mosquitoes are something else!
Thank you for posting this. I have stayed at Stephen Foster State Park twice but have not done an overnight paddle yet. Your trip looked so much fun! What month did ya’ll go?
No problem! We went in May but I do not recommend going in the spring or summer because the mosquitoes and yellow flies were so bad. I’d definitely recommend a fall trip. I may go back this fall!
Where did you put in?
I can’t exactly remember but it wasn’t too far from Minnie’s
thats my kinda place
It was a cool experience and awesome place no doubt

Did ya'll hear any wood knocks?
What you mean?
@@southgasportsman20 Sounds like someone in the swamp hitting a tree with a bat..especially after dark..you probably wouldn't pay attention unless you knew what to listen for..good luck.
@@gggibson8388 Ah I will look that up. Cant say that we heard any of that though
@@southgasportsman20 Most people never notice...but whenever you are going camping keep your ears open for that sound out there...sounds like a bat whomping against a tree..usually after dark..keep yours ears open 👍
