  • We took a canoe trip 10 miles back into the Okefenokee Swamp. It was an experience I will never forget. We witnessed a black bear crossing the water, roughly 80 alligators from our departure to our return, as well as numerous other species. I hope you enjoy the footage from our trip as much as we did!

I paddled an old, Old Town wooden canoe from Fargo GA where the Suwannee River exits the Okefenokee to the Gulf of Mexico in 1954 when I was 10 years old. An adventure of a lifetime. Love that country. Thanks for posting, brings back great memories.

We counted 60-70 gators throughout our trip in and out. Luckily they didn’t pay us much attention. Sounds like your dad had some great times out there. This was a really fun trip for me and I hope to go back someday

Just be prepared for the insects if you go in the spring or summer. I would definitely go in the fall!

Been there sat on the Suwannee River seal the Gators were huge. Stayed at Stephen C Foster the mosquitoes were unbelievable. Raccoon would come up at night and try to get in the coolers but had a great time

Thank you for posting this. I have stayed at Stephen Foster State Park twice but have not done an overnight paddle yet. Your trip looked so much fun! What month did ya’ll go?

No problem! We went in May but I do not recommend going in the spring or summer because the mosquitoes and yellow flies were so bad. I’d definitely recommend a fall trip. I may go back this fall!
