  • Well this is it guys and gals! Time to try something new...
    With my goal being to get out on the water even more and take advantage of the lighter winds, the obvious direction was foiling!
    Whoever knows me, knows I am not a big fan of foiling in windsurfing or kitesurfing but this grabbed my attention! (and not only because its everywhere on social media lately)
    So follow me on my first ever session on a wingfoil and stay until the end because although I know I sometimes talk too much, I do share a recap of my personal tips to you and my impression of wingfoiling as a whole...
    A Little spoiler... I was impressed! :D
    Leave a like if you enjoyed the video and don't forget to subscribe and share it with anyone you think will enjoy it!
    See you on the water!

    Looks good - and encouraging to see you got up first session. Definitely giving this a go this year.

      Thank you! Its definitely fun and I think if you have some watersports experience, with the right conditions, you can get up first session!
      I think its a fun new sport and that is why we decided to bring them to Windsurfers' World this summer! If you are looking for somewhere warm to go and give it a try come find me :)

    Awesome!! Like the video very much. One tipp on wingfoiling... if you are already a foiler (kitefoiler, surffoiler, windfoiler) it helps massively to get up and flying by pumping your board and your wind simoultanesly...

      Yes! Have been doing that more lately and I am getting up much sooner and easier! Plus its good cardio... :D

    My first attempt was on 69l board , wasn't even able to get on my knees. The water wasn't very flat, some swells so that didn't help a bit. . I've been foiling kiting though and will be trying again on bigger board this weekend.

    • @kyriakosgiakoumaroswingandwind
      @kyriakosgiakoumaroswingandwind  3 года назад +2

      You definitely need a bigger board to start with... if you are experienced with windsports you can push the limits and try with a smaller one but I wouldnt try with anything under 100! For me 120 was perfect as it was easy to stand but I didnt compromise any movement with that size.
      Of course if you know how to foil it will def help but not on the first part of actually standing up :D
      Good luck on your next try!!!

    Yeaah, My Aztron Rocket 1450 is way too small to be foiling in low winds as well. Pretty much need constant 10 m/s together with my 115 liter board and 6m2 wing. Really want to try a bigger foil and a smaller wing as the large one is quite hard to maneuver even with my long arms, lol.

    • @kyriakosgiakoumaroswingandwind
      @kyriakosgiakoumaroswingandwind  3 года назад +1

      Yes! Once I got to a certain skill level though I found I needed a smaller wing and my board size wasnt that relevant as long as I could stand up in the first moments before pumping. Of course it all depends on what your end goes is with your riding!
      Keep flying! :)

    What type of board did you use? I se a mast track.

      This is a pocket Rocket from RRD. Its a hybrid windsurf/wingfoil board. Super nice board for starting on. I highly recommend it. I used the 120lt version but they have a 140 as well

    How do you self rescue with the wing, if the wind dies? Nice video 🤙

    • @kyriakosgiakoumaroswingandwind
      @kyriakosgiakoumaroswingandwind  3 года назад +1

      Hey Pavel,
      The board I am using in the video is pretty floaty so you could still stand and use the wing to catch whatever little wind there is and come back... or even sit on your knees!
      But if there is completely no wind I am not sure. I would guess you just lay down and paddle back.

    • @whatsupbudbud
      @whatsupbudbud 3 года назад

      Lay down on your chest, pull the wing front next to your feet, put the feet above the wing side and paddle back. Do utilize wind as far as you can before doing this as it's quite tiring. :)

      @@SergioMartinez-qx9rt I am very serious. My job is teaching people to foil, trying out everything I can about the sport and even travelling the world to do this. So from my experience (which I think is enough) I have seen people, including myself that do this.
      Again as I mentioned everyone is different and this should not be considered the standard. But for you to say its simply not possible without much proof to back it up I guess, is very wrong.
      I mean as you see in the video and as I say I got up in my first hour basically and I have no prior foil experience. So unless you are calling me a liar I would think that is proof enough
