Very excited to finally be able to start the Campaign. Some technical issues will be resolved next time, for instance: - My mic is clipping here, the software we used for the call annoyingly turned it up, it's fixed now. - We'll have a Battle Map where you can see our cameras as well - We already are on most Podcast apps, but we will be on iTunes as well in the next couple of days - We're looking at implementing a natural 20/1 counter for people just for fun Any other suggestions let me know! We deliberately don't roll virtually, so people read out their rolls for the audio only version.
incredible job guys, dnd is dope. Merchant, you are scaling the ladder and are currently my favorite content producer when it comes to MTG and would love to see more of this!
Whoever's idea it was to merge two of my favorite things ever in mtg and DnD.. Hats off. This is amazing. LOVED the character intro at the start, both audible back stories and the cards. Keep doing 3 hr long sessions please!
You know what you need? You need a nice friendly Orzhov rogue/wizard. Just sign on this parchment here, don't mind the fine print, just your standard form...
Absolutely new to DnD but wanted to have a look at it for a long time now. Seems like a perfect opportunity to jump in with you guys. The introduction of the characters already gave me goosebumps. Really brought them to life! Seems like I've got three hours less to sleep now :D
INCREDIBLE! GREAT JOB BY ALL! Merchant this is the most fun ive EVER had watching a you tube vid. This will be the thing I look forward to EVERY WEEK. hats off to the DM. great NPC play. great description. GREAT JOB EVERYONE.
Really excited for this campaign, MTG and DnD in one! Love the Ravnica setting, and I'm thinking of grabbing the book myself for my first game as DM. You guys are a great bunch of players, Craig seems like a really fun DM to play with.
so happy about this. I missed the first 2 hours on twitch, then didnt hear the end ( i was SUPER tired after a long day) Awesome that its on RUclips on Sunday, cuz Mondays is my only day off!! Woot! Beer opened, G&G on the phone... MTGA on the computer... perfect!
Gotta say I'm loveng the roleplay from Lockin. Kash is a very pompous, entitled, arsehole and I love it. It was wonderful watching his efforts to secure a private room fail so badly. Pretty sure if he just followed Deru in the first place without complaining he would have had a much less 'fragrant' night's sleep.
Thx for the upload! Missed the first hour of the stream yesterday so it´s good to have it here on YT. Already looking forward to the next episode. Cool dungeon master, interesting characters and quite educating too...didn´t know these tiny goblins have to eat that much. It´s also nice to see some well known faces outside of their standard business. I would watch it all at once even if it was twice as long.
You can stretch black guilds a bit but they're never really well aligning with the goals of the other guilds. Though I would have thoroughly enjoyed Merchant playing a Dimir Matrix spoof.
My group is also playing Ravnica D&D and its going well. We have a Boros Minotaur fighter, a Selesnian Loxodon Paladin and Elf ranger and a guildless human Rogue. I was going to play a female human Boros cleric but changed at the last minute to play an Izzet sorcerer (cause the DM said he'd like it if we had more guild diversity). My Sorcerer, Talion Morvein, is chaotic neutral (like any Izzet mage) thinks he is very intelligent and charismatic but is easily bored and so far his favorite spells are presdigitation (cause its fun to say and you can do fun things with it like I cleaned a rat the Loxodon was chasing when we first met) and produce flame (I'm hoping to run into a lady NPC trying to light a pipe so I can produce the flame and ask "need a light?" in a charismatic manner). The rogue and Minotaur are first time players and the rogue is trying a bit too much to go against the DM's railroads so he can create a more enjoyable story for himself (not realising there is a whole group also playing) to the point of breaking one of the key rules of DnD: He spilt the party. He decided he and I would wander off to meet some Dimir agent contact of his (so my mage spent an hour in the smelly and damp sewers with nothing to do except play with his flames) and then tried to bluster his way into a prison to interrogate someone inside and almost got us arrested. Finally he took off to another part of the city to look for goblins to intimidate while the rest of the party followed the main questline. We finished our second session in a sewer (again) but at least we got to fight some roaming Golgari zombies and my sorcerer rolled high hit rolls with his produce flame and max damage each time so he's happy he finally got to burn stuff!
Hey Merchant, I started watching your new D&D campaign "Black Blades" on your other channel and someone recommended this series. Looking forward to it!
I am super happy to have found this!! My friends and I just started our adventure into Ravnica, and I've been dying to see how other people are using the material!
I really like the overlay, the idea of playing D&D in the MtG setting, and the crazy races. I don't know when I'll make it through this video, but I like it!
Glad to see you enjoying yourselves :) I often love the story lines of reworked DnD, especially in "worlds" that I enjoy such as MTG's Ravnica, but the "live" learning and exploring, the adlib, the confusion, aren't always for me. I shall catch a few more episodes, and see how the fantasy evolves. Be well, stay merry and blessed.
POGGERS This is awesome, my friends are just now getting back into MTG and we've been putting D&D on pause for a while, but we've been wanting to run Ravnica so this'll be awesome to watch!
God I'm super jealous of you guys being able to all call in and stream D&D together. I DM my own group however i definately can't do anything like that with them, it's like wrangling horny cats.
I'm at 1:50:15 and I have 2 follow-up questions so far: 1- what happened to the surviving boros guy ? no questions for him about the attack ? 2- Did yall forget about kash's "detect magic" incantation, or did it just not "resolve" ?
So, I'm setting up a group myself for this, and I'm legitimately looking forward to what my players come up with. So far I have... a Gruul Minotaur Barbarian, someone undecided leaning towards Azorius Paladin or a Rakdos Bard, and I don't know what the others of the group are rolling. I'm kind of hoping for someone to roll Dimir because it'll be neat to play with that around the rest of the group.
Excited to see someone running a Ravnica game and that layout is spot on amazing! Hope you don't mind, but I'm definitely going to steal that idea and make cards for my PCs.
Merchant, you are super awesome! I love your content/work and look forward to all your videos you upload each day. Keep doing what you're doing and keep being awesome!
Appreciate the stream! I've been looking for some inspiration into my Ravnica module! I will admit I thought Merchant was one of the Super Mega guys until he started talking.
OOOH! Another Ravnica D&D stream! The second I have found in the last few days! RUclips is FINALLY learning what I REALLY want!!! BUT THERE'S NO PLAYLIST FOR ME TO SAVE, NOOOOOOOO!!! Wait! Is that a good thing or should we all be worried???
I just started a session a couple of days ago and I'm going to binge-watch your series to get a better depth of the game, I made a dragonborn Paladin so, DEUS VULT.
I was really hoping when it came to the 3 bedrooms, Kash would have said something along the lines of "I was hoping I could sleep with Talora but I guess that doesn't solve sleeping arrangements"
Shame Ol' Reg couldn't save that boros grunt. I love when my player's do my work for me; woulda been nice to have a little callback later in the series where Reg sees the fella again.
Love it. Great job all around. D.m. is solid with npc's. Reg is great. Nuff said there. I can't really say more than what everyone else has said about him. Very good job on Deru. Solid pencil pusher. Lol i love the constant lecturing and scolding. He may not be the fan favorite (ahem...Reg...) but he has a lot of character to him. Aseres is dope. Solid first character. Well done. I definitely see the character every time you speak. Kash is hilariously cocky...like any smart izzet should be but he has a suave kinda air about him that is unique to izzet I feel. Most izzet are wild and smart (like Farnsworth from futurama lol). Kash is smarter than you and doesn't have to constantly remind you of it. Whether you know it or not doesn't matter lol. And Talora is a solid character. Ironically the least "normal" character, a simic hybrid, feels like the most "normal." Good job channeling them outgoing, defiant, youngster vibes
Very excited to finally be able to start the Campaign. Some technical issues will be resolved next time, for instance:

Is this going to be a long lasting campaign or more like a module or a pseudo one shot?
@@hiimreyna long campaign :)

please add subs
Not possible sadly, subs for a 3 hour weekly show would be a whole job.
Merchant has the distinct D&D advantage of already sounding like a fantasy character in real life.
As does AliasV
Right? For someone that playing for the first time she got in her character really well.
And kind of the perfect voice for a goblin at that (no diss).
His goblin voice is fantastic
dude merchant that goblin voice is spot on man goddamn 10/10
He could voice a barbarian, like Grog Strongjaw!
Just to be safe, I'm gonna overanalyze everyone's actions to figure out who's really a Dimir spy....
What is Dimir?
@@l0ker507 sounds like something a Dimir spy would say...
@@l0ker507 Dimir is one of the Ravnica guilds, known for its spies.

@@Sullenslime kinda missing the point there..
Wizards needs to have merchant do some voice acting for planeswalkers in mtga, you’d be so good for like a Karn or Sarkhan
He seems a good fit for Angrath, in my opinion.
Just make a goblin plansewalker
@@eidolon9012 I see what you did there

Prison holding the most dangerous criminals in all of Ravnica: guarded by a handful of guys

Only three hours long? REEEEEEE
Merchant much respect from using the flavor text from tenth edition goblin pikesman, I also like tenth edition goblin areonauts flavor text
Only 8 minutes in and I can already tell that this is going to be dope. The cast is great! Wishing there was some golgari at the table though :D
great stuff! and shoutout to the DM--usually a thankless job, but pvt managed some good energy and variance in his descriptions and dialogue =)

This series should get me through the next week of quarantine
Black is my favorite color and none of you went with a black aligned guild, FeelsBadMan. Cant wait to see where this goes though.
Same, was hoping for a Dimir or Orzhov (Rakdos might have been too much to ask for lol) to spice things up, but still down to watch.
You can stretch black guilds a bit but they're never really well aligning with the goals of the other guilds. Though I would have thoroughly enjoyed Merchant playing a Dimir Matrix spoof.
How do you know none of them are dimir spies?
I purely wanna be a mushroomancer so golgari is a huuuge lean towards since my friend is DMing a new campaign

What is the program being used for the video? Background and frames with names… so much better than zoom… help please?
You know Merchant is playing the long game, he'll probably put that first ability score increase into STR and DEX to round them both out lol.
what program are you using for the battle screen
Combat in 3d in first encounter - great start to D&D Maths ;)
If Pythagorean’s Theorem is
A+B=C ( all to the second power)
Then it would be 40+30=70(again second power)
