Ancel Keys introduced BMI in 1972, instructing doctors to start telling people {most of whom were completely healthy) that they were fat and would die if they didn't eat less and move more. This is almost certainly the primary cause of the 1977 obesity epidemic. Thin had also became fashionable maybe a decade earlier. They US dietary guidelines may have increased the use of seed oils, contributing the the increase in diabetes.

Many times when I listen to a podcast I like to look up their name followed by debunked. Just to hear the other side of the argument. When I looked up the good doctor here debunked nothing came up. Apparently she knows the literature so well that people don't even attempt a counter argument. That's pretty impressive

Interesting, and it doesn't surprise me at all. Her research is incredible, I can't recommend her highly enough. She was a vegetarian for about 20 yrs before starting her research, which I found interesting. Much like Nina Teicholz. Because of her math background and a brain that seeks logic (which is how mine works so I really appreciate it) she can explain studies and claims and show what's good in them and what's nonsense. Her PhD is fascinating reading. She quickly became my favorite researcher when I went down the rabbit hole of "what even is cholesterol and what's it's purpose?" after my father died and the circumstances made no sense in light of what we're taught. I needed it to make sense. She has a ton of free lectures on here as well. The fiber ones and the ones where she debunks the "eat less move more" idea (search Zoe Harcombe kettle) are brilliant and she's very entertaining to boot. Because of what I've learned I can now debunk every new media article making new nutrition claims, they no longer confuse me. And no, I'm not a paid shill for her, I'm just a very grateful fan of her work.😂

Yes, they should..but ultimately they wont. Until their patients get on the "eat right train" and this starts to affect the revenue stream.. i.e. patients dont need to run into their office..they (DR's) will vastly not listen. There's really not much money for a Dr's med practice, if they now suddenly have 50% less office visits because their paitients are now all with better health. This is ACROSS THE MEDICAL BOARD.. Imagine how many fewer Dr's would be needed, how many fewer Dr offices would be needed, how many fewer Hospitols would actually be needed... how many sleazy insurance companies and their sleazy acutaries would be needed.. YUP.. this revolution would UP END THE MEDICAL COMMUNITY LIKE NO TOMORROW.. and I can assure you... THEY ARE NOT GOING TO JUST LET THIS HAPPEN.. YOU CAN TAKE THAT TO THE BANK..

More energy than the last 5 years ( when I started eating like crap and got fat ) mentally clear and mind clicking fast as ever. Sleep apnea declined by more than half, per my sleep app, and no more waking up a half dozen times a night. Walking in evenings, swimming and, core in late mornings and the gym 4 afternoons a week getting back to my gym rat days. Inflammation aches disappearing, arthritis almost gone in my knees and toes. The list goes on after Only 30 days! I committed to 90 days- Thanksgiving to evaluate overall results. Leaning carnivore with a small amount of my favorite fruits depending how I feel after 90 days. Just do it! It really is a logical miracle.

High fructose corn syrup (HFCS) came into common use in the United States around the early 1970s. It was first developed in the 1950s, but it wasn't until the 1970s that its production and consumption began to increase significantly. This was due to various factors, including government subsidies for corn, which made HFCS cheaper to produce than sugar, and advancements in food processing technology that allowed for its widespread use in a variety of food products.

And the next visit i asked her what was the normal healthy ration of HDL and TRIGY and she just smiled and told me that her upper limits for TRIGLYCERIDES were above 350 mg/dl LOL. Good thing i didnt return back for a follow up. Instead I found a doctor that is willing to help me get off the BP pills. My BP back then was just above high normal 140/90. and now without BP pills 120/80. Moving more, doing low carb carnivore, sun walking and weights.,

Med medical = medicine. All they do is teach the doctors how to apply the so called medicine to the symptoms. They don't address what's actually causing the symptoms. High blood pressure here's some pills instead of changing diet and or environment, exercise or getting some mental help on how to handle and process stress which all would make a person healthier and without pills. Nope they prey on peoples inability to research and think for themselves. Just like in court if u have an attorney representing u the court looks at it as that ur to incompetent to represent urself. And how that is is that if these people could learn the law then so could u. When u go to a doctor the building is called a medical practice it's a place where a doctor practices medicine on u. What happens when they give u a pill that doesn't work? Oh they got another to give u and so on. I've had a doctor leave the pharmacist a list of like 12 medications and told them to just go down the list in order until one of them works for me. I've also had a doctor not be able to say that he is just a doctor. It was I'm a medical doctor I'm one who practices medicine, I'm a M.D. who works in this medical practice facility, I'm certified to practice medicine at this medical practice facility at which my title is M.D. I told him to get out of the room and go get me a real doctor. The young guy went out and an old guy came in. Lol. He was laughing when he asked me what the issue was and I told him that all I did was ask the 1st guy if he was a real doctor and he couldn't answer me with just a simple yes. So I told him to get out of here and go get me a real doctor. Lol

Med school was invented by the Rockefellers. So was prescription medicine and most methods of so called healthcare which is not healthcare it's taking advantage of people when their at their weakest state for profit. And now that most hospitals are subsidized it's even worse. There's no care to peoples health in healthcare. Their only there for u when ur sick it should be called sickcare. Not to mention the amount of people who die from prescription medicines and from human error in the field.

I also take vitamin D/vitamin K at 5000 IU every day and have not had Covid , a cold, the sniffles in years. I eat probably 80/20 Carnivore diet along with some vegetables, but I do avoid processed foods and most carbohydrates.
The food pyramid in the United States and I assume in most countries is upside down. The message is all about big Pharma big business, and not about health of individuals. I’m amazed at the number of physicians who simply do not understand cholesterol and are quick to put patients on statins. I am almost 70 years old and I have not had lab work in over 30 years. And my opinion is, there is no need to.

I disagree when she said don't add butter to streak to increase fat. Sometimes I get 85/15 grass feed beef and ya know my go to is 80/20 so I will compensate for the fat loss and it taste great so that's my body telling me I hit that sweet spot. It's purely a situational thing. Overall she makes a purest point and I'll respect that but depending on the situation I'll add fat.

People walked everywhere in towns and cities. You’ve only got to look at old documentary films (eg from the BFI database) to see what has changed. And that includes children playing very freely in the urban streets… now dominated by traffic and parked cars.

If the doctor is reading this.... The fasted state is called autophagy. What we know generally it's reached at 20 hours of a water fasted state. I don't know if someone is lean and 100% fat adapted if autophagy is reached sooner. I'm lean and USUALLY I skip a day or eating every Saturday so I go for a 36-40 fasted window tapping into autophagy but I don't got beyond that because I'm too lean and it doesn't seem smart (I'm sure I can do 72 hours but I don't see the need). Autophagy can also be possible tapping into everyday if doing OMAD with a feeding window of 1-2 (consecutive hours) a day. Wouldn't advise that long term but it's just an option

I love Dr Zoe Harcombe, but her chemistry is a little bit of. Sometimes you may have two or more compounds with the same formula but a different arrangement of atoms in the molecule and completely different properties.
Here is the difference between HDL and LDL : "The main difference between LDL and HDL is their compositions. Approximately 50 percent of the weight of an LDL particle is cholesterol and only 25 percent is protein. High-density lipoprotein particles, on the other hand, consist of 20 percent cholesterol by weight and 50 percent protein. Since protein is more dense than fat, HDL particles are more dense than LDL particles, hence the names "high-density" and "low-density" lipoproteins. The structural difference between HDL and LDL particles is determined by the types of proteins in the molecule. "

At 0:52, It's fine and useful to point out that the cholesterol molecule itself is the same whether it's packaged in an LDL particle or an HDL particle. However, it's still conceivable that LDL itself is harmful while HDL is beneficial. Now, I don't believe at all that LDL actually IS harmful; I'm just saying that this doesn't follow directly from the cholesterol molecules' being the same in both types of particles. This is a minor point. I'm on board with the low carb community that doesn't demonize cholesterol in your blood or in your food. I'm a big fan of Zoe Harcombe.

Thank you for this interesting conversation. I try to incorporate different dietary views, although I personally prefer a diet that includes a diversity of healthy carbohydrates and vegetarian protein sources. I'm in my 70s and in good health, although I would like to put on about 10 pounds, which has not worked out, no matter how much I eat. Could it be that a one size fits all diet is not necessarily the right approach?

The only reason I add butter to my meat is because the texture of fat on steaks etc. makes me gag so I have to make that up somehow.
