I'm so glad the _Tiny Toons_ are back. This show not only revitalized the _Looney Tunes,_ but introduced so many great and hilarious characters that made my childhood so much better. And the parodies, my god they were brilliant, and opened my mind to movies and shows I never would've considered otherwise.

It’s fair to say that without Roger Rabbit, we would have never had Tiny Toons, or Animaniacs or the DCAU! It really is one of the most impactful movies in animation history.

Absolutely love Tiny Toons! Especially the parodies, The Simpsons, Saturday Night Live, MTV, In Living Color, and many other shows and dramas that us 80s into 90s kids were well aware of despite parents thinking, "We wouldn't get some of the gags!" For example, Babs making fun of normally Madonna but also Homey the Clown!❤😂

For those wondering about the controversy with Charlie Adler, it's because the network was under paying him even though he was one of the main stars of the show. He felt insulted at the pay cut they were trying to force upon him, so he walked out. Luckily, the Tales from the Crypt Keeper's voice actor, was capable of capturing Charlie Adler's high-pitched screams and performances! This was itself kind of a parody, as , Charlie Adler played Buster as a Crypt Keeper in one of the Halloween episodes, so this fusion worked out great. I only know firsthand because I got to meet my pal Cryptkeeper at a couple of conventions and he and I sat down discussed how this whole thing happened! Ofcoarse I thanked him for covering for one of my other favorite voice actors!

Tbh, even though I love his voice for Buster Bunny... I feel like he does better whenever he used his hilarious cartoony voice (usually for Cow, Chicken, Red Guy, Candy, the Bigheads and Grouchy Bear.)
Also, yeah. I feel bad for Adler.

I wonder if he ever found out that in the Japanese dubs, Buster and Yakko would be voiced by the same person (same dude that's the voice of Frieza, BTW). That would stick in my craw.

It wasn’t just a contract issue, Charlie was upset that he was passed over for the part of Yakko in the then new show, Animaniacs. Charlie was an established voice actor at the time and Rob Paulsen was on his way up the ladder and he felt that he had earned the right to the lead role after the success of Tiny Toons. Rob Paulsen has discussed this a couple of times including the Toon Cast podcast.

    • @mightyfilm
      @mightyfilm 10 месяцев назад +10

@@araccoonreviews4620 I love Charlie's voice and all, but he would NOT have been a good Yakko. That HAD to be Rob. The character needed that almost smarmy car salesman charmer voice that only Rob could deliver, while Charlie is more well known for denser, wackier voices. It's a shame that he felt that way, and I wish they offered him a different character, but he was just a wrong fit.

It’s interesting how Roger Rabbit is often credited for starting the Disney Renaissance, but learning if the developments of Tiny Toons and Animaniacs makes you realise it also had a profound impact on WB and the Looney Tunes as well. If only also would have kickstarted a triumphant comeback for Betty Boop or Woody Woodpecker as well. Makes Boops cameo all the more poignant.

Tiny Toons helped me get invested more in the original Looney Tunes. I was already a fan of Bugs Bunny, Wile E Coyote and several others but Tiny Toons helped me explore a wider range of the Looney Tunes universe. It is a seriously underrated series that helped kick off the 90s cartoon renaissance and the Looney Tunes revival.

I like the reboot, but miss the fluid animation of the old series. It makes the show more stilted. I hope the series expands beyond the school in future episodes.
The old series took the characters across the country and around the world. Even to places like wacky Land. Acme Acres was a much bigger sandbox for the characters to play in as opposed to just Acme Loo. It also felt larger in scope with episodes like the wacky land toons basically being poached, earthquakes tearing through AA because of a missing mound of gold, buster finding a dinosaur egg that got surprisingly emotional.. it really felt like the toons could do anything, as opposed to just school-based hijinks.
But we've only gotten 10 episodes so far so here's hoping the series can grow.

Hell Yes!!!! Glad to see Tiny Toons covered! This was truly animation royalty, as with many projects under Spielberg, gave gorgeous backgrounds, beautiful animation, and hilarious hijinks!!! This in turn spawned excellent animators and writtens; who would later spread their talents into shows like Batman The Animated Series, Animaniacs, Pinky and the Brain, and so much more! I absoluely love what Tiny Toons spawned, but moreso, its hilarious comedy, gorgeous art, parodies, and characters who included the original WB crew to add more hilarity!❤

My favorite was when Plucky was a waiter at a ritzy restaurant and served all the movie and TV stars of the time... it was definitely an homage to 'Hollywood Steps Put' (1941). I also really liked Shirley the Loon! The thing about both 'Tiny Toons' and 'Animaniacs' is that there were definitely two versions in production: one had a sharp look to the animation, and was definitely the better of the two, and the other was more rounded and almost looked sloppily made. I've always wished that the first, sharper look was what they stayed with, but I suppose it was due to budgeting.

Tiny Toons was a revolutionary series at the time, and one of the shows to start the 90's revolution just before Nicktoons blew the lid off of it. Though I always wondered why the series was about them going to school to become cartoon stars if their only starring cartoons were about them going to school. I guess you could call the second half of the series their senior thesis. Anyway, I'm 2 episodes into the revival, and I'm enjoying what I'm seeing so far. Kind of reminds me of the Muppet Babies reboot, using the same characters in different ways for a different audience, but still being relatively the same. And I am impressed that they are using long suffering 60's LT characters and NOT as a "you suck" joke. Merlin the Mouse, actually likable and looked upon with respect? Never thought I'd see the day. I give them all the credit in the world for diving into the dark age of LT and treating those characters as equals, even though I'm not a fan of that era of the characters.

Hey Dave, speaking of Looney Tunes, even though it seems like you have done evolutions on all of them, there are still two left you should do.
First is Granny kind of, as while I know you already briefly talked about her in your Sylvester and Tweety evolution, she is just as prominent a both of them, so I think it would be fair to do a more in-depth evolution about the looney grandma.
And secondly is rather surprising one, but it’s Michigan J. Frog, as despite just being a ‘one and done’ character as you would say, he has somehow became just as recognisable as the rest of the star Looney Tunes, so it would be a really unique evolution about him.
I know there are other Looney Tunes characters out there, but I don’t think they are really recognisable enough to really be given evolutions, not every character is really has that amount of material.

I can't really remember when I caught the original show but I knew of it. I played the video games and I still remember owning my favorite character as a plush toy....Furball! I just had a thing for characters or animals with tails. (I kinda still do) but it wasn't till latter on when Nickelodeon bought up the rights to show it on their channel that I remembered it. My favorite of the the all is the Summer Vacation movie. Of al the cool songs (especially the strumming of the banjos scene) and the on going of Buster and Babs trying to one up each other with getting them each wet with toy water guns. I enjoyed all the episodes. I even have the whole set on DVD and some actual TV recordings from other FOX channels. Great job on the episode Dave. As I always say or write you did another great episode.

Loonaversity is a good reboot! Unlike the Animaiacs reboot, Loonaversity made sure to include its diverse cast, and seeing how its established as a diffrent show, and not a continuation of the original, gives new takes on characters to spice things up. Although sadly, the " No Relation" gag is forever lost!😢❤

I can see the reboot going either way. Changing Buster and Bab's relationship will be very hard to adapt to unless you are new to the series.
Lola bunny will be a welcomed addition but it also completely alters the motivation behind one of Bab's biggest episodes where she revises Honey and Bosko though they could still toss Honey, Bosko and Buddy back in to the story some how.
Bottum line, if the series has too many of the Hulu Animaniacs flaws the comedy will feel cringe
if the series is too full of dated ideas it won't feel relevant to the modern times.
The series needs to try some thing new while also not being too new.

Definitely gonna say this, but the original Tiny Toons, while beloved, was the most messy of those Amblin/WBA series. Apart from the animation, and the writing quality, it just dated itself the most. The want to make it ultra current backfired immensely and made it an amazing time capsule. But it also means the reboot got free reign with whatever it did for me, and I think the reboot did its job properly.

@raphaelbrown6314 The original had a segment where Dizzy Devil learns to read via a Bill Cosby spoof, an entire episode that's just Field of Dreams with Bosko, and a bit where Babs goes from impersonating Roger Rabbit, Homey the Clown and a song that should not even remotely be near a kids show due to racism and NSFW reasons, and it didn't age badly?
