God that game against Sultai Ramp was insanely satisfying. Seeing them get so petty and frustrated really makes me happy. You are the man Luca! Keep up the good work like always!
I don't really mind this kind of thing. At least you get some turns to try to play your deck out, unlike countermagic-based control decks. Saying "oh I hate prison decks because I got locked down before I could beat you" is not that different from "your aggro/midrange deck killed me before I could beat you" IMO. The hate cards are not fun if they get you though - that Arcanist player must've been pretty pissed to see Rest in Peace come down almost instantly. I admit that non-creature interaction could be much more varied overall, instead of just "you have it or you don't". If there are 30 different ways to deal with creatures why are there only a couple to deal with everything else.
In March 2, when you decided to tutor and play baffling end, you could have instead played stone idol into tutor, then dropped the combo a turn earlier, if I’m not mistaken. Love your content!
Yo Legen. I wonder if I can get your opinion on the below W/B deck (and anyone else who wants to comment is welcome) for starting on standard ranked play. I've been playing for a week, so this would be my first (semi)serious investment of wildcards. The main theme is life gain to life loss for the opponent, plus griffin generation on the side. 4 x Light of hope 2 x Bloodchief's thirst 4 x Griffin Aerie 4 x Hallowed Priest (something else to utilize all the lifegain) 4 x Revitalize 2 x Heartless Act 2 x Sanctum of Stone Fangs 2 x Banishing Light 2 x Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose 4 x Indulging Patrician 2 x Lurrus of the dream den 4 x Resolute Rider 13 Plains 9 Swamp 2 x Scoured Barrens I'll have to spend 6 common, 11 uncommon and 4 rare wildcards for the above. Do you think it's worth it? Any changes to suggest?
It's hard to parse, but it's one of the priests/followers mourning a fallen god. Hence the name. Even cooler considering the combo... Mtg cards are notorious for shoving details in, and not checking for visibility or silhouette. Larger, most of the art works fine. Cropped and shrunk for a card... it's a crapshoot. :P i2.wp.com/mtgazone.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/Solemnity-by-Greg-Opalinski.jpg?w=1600&ssl=1
Thanks for clarification y'all. The weird angle, the close-up, and the nonhuman subject all combine to make this pretty difficult to parse. Probably looking at Oketra right-side-up, if not perfectly aligned to look at her straight down, and maybe zoomed out to see more context of the funereal occasion, would've been better choices.
Cool video! However, I wonder how viable combo decks such as this one would be in BO3. Its success seems to rely a lot on the opponent not main-decking a response for solemnity.
I don't even think Solemnity is necessarily the thing to worry about most, since you don't die instantly even if it's gone. More worried about the ones that can remove Nine Lives or kill you without damage. And note that multiple Nine Lives are cumulative, so you can protect yourself with another of those if you draw it before getting a replacement Solemnity. (The replacement effect of the one you choose gets rid of the damage event entirely when it gains its counter, which means the other ones have nothing to replace so they don't get counters. So you just choose the one with lowest count.)
the sultai was looking through his deck to see if he had anything relevant, the GG you didnt return was the point he realised he didnt lol i think the arcanist player thought he could return the thoughtseize by attacking
I think the reason on match 3 he keep trying to put counters on his land was because he wanted to send it to the grave as fuel for Uro no like i matter tho he had enough mana to survive 2020.
That Sultai player had absolutely no clue what was in his deck and just ended up wasting time - if you're going to netdeck, at least figure out what's in it. Also, get a 3rd party app that let's you see your deck while playing Arena.
