      @@TyranusRex721 I don't like how they generalized the Chromatics all having line AoEs and the Metallics and Gems all having cones. @@primeemperor9196 Yeah, probably gonna play a hybrid between the old and the new regarding the breath weapons for the Chromatic and Metallic Dragonborn. From what I can tell, the Gem Dragons all have cone AoEs for their breath weapons, at least as of 5e. Still it seems kinda dumb that Wizards would generalize the other two like they did. I mean, who wants to play a Brass Dragonborn when a Gold Dragonborn functions exactly the same but has a more comely scale color? I REALLY hope that in Monsters of the Multiverse, they don't update the Chromatic and Metallic True Dragons to also have those same Breath Weapon AoEs.

    Interesting that dragons are so characterized as collectors and horders, and rarely if ever as crafters. I think some dragon lairs deserve a magical forge that can only be ignited with dragon's breath (and maybe dragonborn breath). I could easily see a bronze dragon spending decades crafting a sentient sword imbued with their own personality, that allows them to experience mortal battles first hand.

      If my players defeat Tiamat and choose to take retribution against her followers, the next campaign will 100% take place in a world shaped by that choice.
      Orc tribes have grown at unprecedented rates. Unclaimed hoards of wealth and powerful magical items have been pilfered by would-be kings. Lavish dwarven cultures grow lax and hedonistic in their oppulence, free from threat of dragons. Elven kingdoms seek to reclaim territory from the human lands. And everywhere, elemental energies set free from their draconic vessels now seep into the land and its inhabitants, causing frequent natural disasters.
      It would be a very fun backdrop for any “oh look gunpowder” imperial-flavour setting, with opportunities for Elemental, Eldritch, or Abyssal villains.

  • @saraphys5555
    @saraphys5555 2 года назад

    I love this for so many reasons...
    Predominantly because in my homebrew game, Dragons play the part of the "3rd Race"; Fiends in the Negative Planes, Celestials in the Positive Planes, and Dragons in the Neutral Planes...
    So its very helpful now that I have actual resources to use for Dragons of the Shadowfel and Feywild that aren't just lesser creatures, but proper pure-blooded Dragons. That probably wont stop me from using the Kobold Press collection of Dragons...the more, the merrier... but its good to see WotC finally openning more doors for Homebrew creators to use in games. The best part is gonna be these boons...
    My Dragons, especially the really old, first generation of the Dragon Gods -type Dragons, secretly move around the world, keeping things moving and varied so that in an emergency, the right heroes are in the right place at the right time. A couple that I really love are Golden Lord, who is a 1st Gen Great Old Golden Dragon, who is actully Lawful Evil; and Firewing & Cold Stone, a 1st Gen Great Old Red and Bronze Dragons, respectively, who are mated; and Firewing's Lair has actully created an Enchanted Forrest around her, with Treeant's and Druid tribe tenders, and she's Lawful Good. Because, in my game, the older a dragon gets, the more it shakes off its "child" desires and whimes, and decides its own way, free of the influence of being "Chromatic" or "Metallic" in nature. (Yes, Shadowrun, congratulations on spotting the influence there!)
    Iv had to workshop some old items to work as gifts from the Dragon Patrons in the past, but I hope this book will give me proper items I wont need to fudge with to make them seem like proper draconic gifts. I look forward to adding this to the already existing Eberron Dragonmarks in my game.

    This really sounds like WotC phoned it in with the classes. "We were too lazy to create subclasses for all the classes, so if you're playing a cleric just pray to a dragon. If you're playing a wizard, I dunno. Use a dragon claw as your focus or something." This is lazy af.
    If you don't want to include subclasses, don't. But dont patronize us. Saying "we tell you how to flavor your classes with dragon themes" is just sprinkling a turd and calling it a cupcake.
    Have more respect for me than that, please. Just say "we created two new subclasses. We didn't focus on the other classes with this book. The other classes will get love in the future, but not in this book."
    I really don't care about Monks or Rangers. They are two of my least favorite classes, but it's okay - I'll respect your honesty so much more than the BS.
