I don't know everything he has done/recorded, but I have never seen/heard something he played that didnt make me smile or even laugh, at the same time that my jaw is hitting the floor obviously. I hope he is as happy as his playing makes the listener. a style unique in so many ways.
Yes, I experience the same emotions when Guthrie is "fooling around" What a very kind thing to say regarding his welfare and I second that. Have fun and tie that jaw up next time coz you know it will definitely drop.
I mean.....despite the fantastic players/GODs that we know...is there honestly ANYONE alive, dead or to be born that has or will have the technique clarity and the breathless modest skill of GG
Jeff, Hello from Kansas City, Missouri. Great Video. Guthrie Govan is Outstanding as always. He was playing a lot of Blues Shred. In my humble opinion the best Blues Shred that I've ever heard is Gary Moore on Still Got The Blues, Yngwie Malmsteen on Red House Blues, Doug Aldrich on the Electro Lesson Intro Solo and Zakk Wylde on the EMG RUclips Channel soloing over an Andy James backing track. Please check out if interested. Thanks.
So I just learnt the very last phrase. 1960's Warner Bros stinger they used right before Porky Pig starts stuttering, "That's all Folks!". Yeah, that phrase. That'll be a cool one to bust out of left field on occasion - literally, just how GG just did. I got a few like that...the Simpsons theme...the South Park theme... Star Wars theme...the zaney circus foxtrot.. Chariots of Fire....
Bro idk how you do this. Do you have perfect pitch? Also, could you please transcribe the slow parts of Sevens toward the end from the London and Silchar shows?
This doesn't sound like my Guitar Center. Imagine Sweet Child O Mine, Stairway to Heaven, Smoke on the Water all played horribly, out of key, out of tempo and loud. Then you'll hear a try at Eruption and dogs are in pain because they're the only ones that can hear some of those notes.
@@jeffdafonte The worst part is even back then when you had noobs annoying the shit out of everyone, the employees were always pros. Experienced musicians who gig locally and knew their shit. Now the employees are the ones who can't play. They're just money handlers. Cashiers. Ask a question about a guitar related topic and they're like "huh...don't know" and they pull out their phone and start to Google it. Damnit! I can do that! I asked you because you're supposed to be the expert! lol
Any great musician can exceed your expectations on a cheap instrument. That being said, a nice, well made instrument that's easy to play and sounds good helps out a lot. No point trying to make music on something that fights you the whole time. Well, unless you can't afford it.
Thats actually a Suhr strat. Suhr make some of the best handmade guitars available anyone will tell you their craftmanship is probably the best you’ll find from any guitar brand. Guthrie was a Suhr signature artist before he moved to Charvel. But anyway, I still completely agree with you aha
That poor guitar had to smoke a cigarette after that
It’ll never feel that way ever again lol
I heard it needed therapy.
@@mackabeats a lot of it
Haha, good one mate! 😁😂👌
Had to call all her friends and tell them how hard some British chap played her...
His phrasing is always suprisingly unpredictable,he really knows how to play the notes
It’s probably become second nature to him. Like breathing or speaking.
@Ralph Reilly I do what I can 🤷♂️🤪
They shouldn't do that. Everyone in the store will quit.
Yeah, terrible idea. All shops need security to prevent this man from just waltzing in and ruining all our egos in public lol.
Guthrie is like some secret wizard that you unlock in a game.
Guthrie is like the kind old wizard who helps you along the tutorial, that also doubles as an insanely difficult secret boss.
he’s only using 1% of his power
Imagine if he used 3%?!
Paganini is back among us!
what I admire the most about Govan is his improvisation skill .... just another level. untouchable
Guthrie, the best in the world. Very compliments and greetings from Italy.
That ‘somebody’ needs a raise.
Legends say guitar plays itself now.
The first ever self-playing guitar
The man mapping out tabs to a solo Guthrie just shat out at a guitar store is pretty entertaining
This was at Centro Chitarre in Naples (Italy) back when he used to play Suhr guitars. I'm pretty sure he held a masterclass that day.
Very cool! Thank you for the background info!
Ciao! how long ago Guthrie was in Naples?
@@DimitriFrondizi The year was 2011, you can find the original video at Centro Chitarre channel here on RUclips
Reminds me of 80s Paul Gilbert with more tapping and weird noises
I was thinking exactly the same thing, it's like he owned Paul himself in his very style. This guy is an alien
And this boys and girls is how baby guitars are made!
😂😂😂

@@ChicTumshy you are totally right, will do ! :D
In guitar stores my hands become paralyzed and automatically I play “wish you were here”.
I never know what this guy is doing or how he gets there, but it is free and near perfect playing always.
Guthrie , unreal, love it!
Woooooohoooooo!!!! I we haven't seen a Suhr guitar under those fingers in a while either!! 🙂
I mean.....despite the fantastic players/GODs that we know...is there honestly ANYONE alive, dead or to be born that has or will have the technique clarity and the breathless modest skill of GG
That guitar probably was 10x the value after that.
POV some random guy in the guitar stores every time I try to test a guitar.
Brilliant
Whats more metal than his intro FMD. What a great effort Brother, I can't believe you worked that out. Amazing.
Amazing ! Thanks for Tab.
He has a memory of this.
Absolutely insane
Yessiree.
Why is this dude so good?

He might make it.
He’s on the right path
This is what 13 year olds playing Sweet Child of Mine intro at Guitar Center imagine our reaction is to them playing it.
You mean all this time no one thought we were cool back then? 🤣 damn!
Oh thanks for the TAAAB!))
You’re welcome!
he knows how to play C major and D minor for sure

This is my favorite comment. You took something from it. ❤️
weakness of govan: he doesnt know to play wrong note
Store owner jumped in for a sales op lol!?!?
Right?! Lol surprised no one else mentioned that. Dude just strolls right in, no fucks given.
Go Guthrie you're going to get so Good by the time you're an old man you'll just have to look at the guitar and it'll play
The new stairway to heaven
He has that hanna barbera's vibe hahaha
phrasing and groove separates him from 90% of virtuosos.
Demonstração clara de que o que importa é quem está tocando e não a guitarra que está sendo tocada....
every video of this guy is filmed on on casette tapes
'Some noise here'
Yep lol. Slowed down it looked and sounded like what I tabbed. Sped up I wasn’t happy with it.
KEEP HIM OUTTA THERE!!...The guitars would refuse being purchased by guys like me!!
Classic blunder
Very impressive as always 🤯
1:03 - cringe 😬
He does what we all do. Just make noise at the stores lol.
hahah funny 🤣🤣🤣
Always wonder how people come up with these tabs on video?
Do you mean the specific process? Jeff transcribed this then added the tab animation to the video.
But can he play Stairway to Heaven or Enter Sandman intro?
Who wouldn’t let him in? Lol
Don't be fooled by 'Guthrie' , this is just a very complexed version of "Stairway To Heaven."
Anyone know the song he plays at 0:48? I've heard him play it a few times but haven't found out what it is yet lol
O Sole Mio
@@viktorandersson7819 thank you! I was wondering what it was too!
@@jeffdafonte Made famous by Ace Ventura's butt.
Is there a famous song from him?
I dont know who's more insane... Guthrie or the Dude who transcripted what he was playing.
I like this guy far more than that swedish
that shop must be closed by now ... nobody dares to try out and buy a guitar anymore.
Bro idk how you do this. Do you have perfect pitch?

No perfect pitch. Just practice my dude. Like any skill it just takes time.

I think it's actually in 7:4 not in 4:4 and then 3:4.
It might be in 150/4.
Until the balded "owner of the store" showed up to spoil the mood🤣😂🤣
Yes yes very impressive, but no stairway to heaven ?
Not allowed. Rule 1 of guitar stores.
Is that you Buckethead?
this shit is hard as fck to play that clean, but It's sound very unpleasant, i don't see any reason to play that fast
It’s just guitar store noodling. Never gonna sound pleasant lol
Hey man!
So you buying the guitar or not?
😆
😂😂😂
So did he buy it?
That’s the million dollar question innit?
Well, I guess this proves that the guitar has nothing to do with it… isn’t that just an ordinary off-the-rack Stratocaster? Tag still on it…

when Guthrie Plays, it makes the overrated Pholyhia noobs
Dumbest shit I've read all day right here.
Guthrie is my favorite guitarist by a mile too.
Somebody let him in ??? Pretty sure he can go where he wants
It's cool to think that virtually every guitar this guy picks up will never, ever be played by a better guitarist.

I feel this way a lot lol. There’s always to be stolen tho! No matter the speed 😁
