    I just binge watched since the beginning after I came across that you sailed the Indian Ocean last year. Then I was riveted at your 34 days at sea Cape Town to Surinam. What a ride that was. Now you are relaxing in the Caribbean. You must be loving it. Cheers,

    Aye, I got just as caught by your racing spirit to get it on! Must have been tricky to keep the same pace and formation since the cats are quite different. Even though they all are classified as performance cats, it doesn't mean the act exactly the same, even in similar conditions. Great episode! Remember, it was when Umadum released their vid on this that I found your channel, September 25 2020 😉 and I'm happy I did.

    ..interesting to see the difference in movement of these boats - its easy to see the Mumby is much lighter than the others....good and bad - but I like light.

    We have been hanging around Woburn since 2019 and I recall seeing your boat there. Clarke’s Court is where we store for hurricane season and when in the area we hang out at Whisper Cove and hog island. We probably crossed paths on Shademan’s or Chico’s shopping bus

    Glad I found your channel. Nice to see the Oz flag. I enjoy watching catamarans sailing a friend of mine owned a Mumby. Sadly his kids weren't interested so he sold it.
    They build some seriously big cats down here in Tasmania but of course no sails.
    I was interested in how your boat was built as the cracks in aluminum next to welds can appear. The video of her being built shows plenty of bracing.
    Was just wondering if all has been good with you with electrolysis etc.
    I like the durability of aluminum and being able to park on the bottom if you want.
    Kind regards Steve.

      G'day Steve... No issues with electrolysis, except when i let my rudder anodes disappear, whilst we were in a marina...I ended up with a couple of pin holes on each rudder... nothing that a bit of epoxy cant fix...

    just found your channel . we have loads in common , dinghies as kids , Hobie 16 as a teenager then keel boats .
    great taste too. I've got a gorgeous Philipino girlfriend too (from Bye Bye Leyte ) and we are living in the uk .
    Just bought a lagoon 40 to mess about in the med but love the simplicity of the Mumby .
    I've been a private pilot for 25 years too . My only big journey was 3 days from uk to south of Portugal, the rest is just messing about.
    the Mumby looks like it will really fly .. A Hobie for grown ups .
    Have fun.

  • @searlearnold2867
    @searlearnold2867 3 года назад +2

    Epic race !! Truth time - how badly would you have left the Atlantic behind if you were both racing? I also watched the video from Umadum. Seems your 3 cats are very different weight classes and hull material/ construction and design. Personally would enjoy any performance cat, as long as it has daggerboards - not into chartermarans unless it's a full on motor-sailer like a Robert Perry.

    Very interesting as I am very keen on the Atlantic 57 and have always had an interest in the Mumby but was told to stay clear of an aluminium boat because of the electrolysis, but that is not the case from listening to what you are saying. Thanks for sharing your information, it is a shame the "race" did not eventuate, I admired your patience.

    I know there was a lot of variables going on there but it looked like your boat was bobbing around a lot more than the other 2 boats.
    Is it a fairly rough ride in that boat because it's lighter?

    • @SailingLifeonJupiter
      @SailingLifeonJupiter  3 года назад +1

      Hi UD... It can be rough at times... But everything is a compromise... It is nice to keep sailing in very light winds when others would be motoring. Thanks for watching.

      @@SailingLifeonJupiter I'm glad I found your channel. I'm from Brissy as well.
      I have watched so much sailing content over the past year. I keep dreaming about sailing away.
      The wife isn't keen at all, plus I get seasick about two seconds after I step onto a boat so I would probably hate life if I tried to live on one.
      You interior fitout looks pretty barebones. Im talking more about the fit and finish rather than equipment. It definitely doesn't have the polish of some of those bigger brand cats. It's not a criticism, I personally don't mind a more utilitarianism aesthetic.
      Is that an option you could of chosen if you had the money and inclination?

    Looks like jupiter tends to bob and pop over the waves a bit more than what the fibreglass cats do. Do you tend to find this is the case when sailing on the blue water?

    • @SailingLifeonJupiter
      @SailingLifeonJupiter  3 года назад +3

      Hey there FSeQ... I would say we may be more lively than other cats because of the weight difference...a heavier cat would cut through waves rather than bounce over them.... but a heavy cat would be motoring in anything less than 10kts of breeze.
      Everything's a compromise!

      Well Kiter... very hard to quote speeds...its all so relative to sea state and weather conditions... but as an example we would normally sit on around 10kts in a 15kt reach... in light winds we are still sailing in 5kts of breeze.
