Strive sells because lazy and bad players wanted a easier game. Simple as that. There's a narrative fighting games are too legacy skill based- which there's an arguement to be had, too difficult, too complex, too time consuming and Strive filled that niche of insecure Redditors demanding a game where they can play a game and not practice as much as they would of in an older game or a different series. Well, when I said this back in the days, everybody told me '' nah you hater '', I mean look, GBVS, Strive, DNF, these are great games indeed BUT, not '' real '' fighting games, too simplified for money.
Well every game is gonna have some characters that are potentially left out there in the cold, and certainly I myself admit that a lot of these characters feel like EX versions of a character.. But are they often EX characters that you can see have fun new ideas of their character? Yea they are. Again baiken, ky, chipp, potemkin blah blah blah etc.. Many characters have new interesting ideas.. and again like I said at the end of the day unfortunately maybe from a certain perspective ultimately in a 2D fighting game maybe a fighting game in general even you can only do so much with a character you can only give them so many tools before eventually certain tools will become a different shade of grey of another character. We can only progress these characters so far before having things like a ex version of the character is necessary. Again we cant have a Kyo in king of fighters that has every single move he has ever had in every single kof game in one at this point cuz the dude would just have to many moves, be to versatile. So again does it suck that some people in one said version of a game dont get their favorite version of said character. It does, but generally speaking for the most part arc systems work has showed that they can still make fun redesigns of characters that you can see there is room to play with and flesh out a bit. Again look at baiken.. baiken very cool in this game.. But would you really want to give baiken all the tools she has in this game as well as some of the random new tools she had in XRD, in +R where she is already strong? That would be a potentially hard thing to balance and if you tried youd probably end up having to nerf some of those tools in some aspects because it wouldnt make sense for the character to have everything all in one at its full power.

everyone's got their opinions and tbh there's a lot about strive i dont really care for but to be real, there's fuckery in almost every popular game. The wall break thing...i love how it feels when breaking the wall & getting a hard counter which slows down time. would be cool to do more corner stuff but you can with wall slump giving people an ability to get out. its not a normal corner & damage is way higher so corners probably would melt more than wall breaking. but Calling it a 'bad' game though? definitely disagree. but whatever
Every game does have its problem never said it doesnt. Not every game though do the developers and the people that shill it work in a exact opposite way they said it will. Not every game encourages you to actually play the game unoptimally. What kinda game that is good well designed game do the developers in their own interview admit they dont know what they are doing or why you would do something?
daisuke did not gave a single fuck about gg player base and changed GG it into a throwloop wallbreak experience, its such a shame, the fact that any move from 90% of the cast can give you oki or wall break is the most notorious aspect to notice, in xrd you had to work to get a oki, or you pressure your oponent in blockstrings, now in strive not only you can get oki with no effort but also there is insane risk in jumping into your oponent so basicaly most matches are played on the ground wich feels so much less guilty gear

The biggest question for me isn't why people play bad games like Strive, it's why do people complain or even care about what *other* people prefer to play? Every Strive thread has loads of people whining about AC or XRD. Why don't they all just go play XRD together instead?

im not sure why this video is getting so many comments and views again right now i made it years ago.. but yes strive is a bad game and i made many videos about why it is, and predicting exactly how it was going out even from the first footage of it.
everyone's got their opinions and tbh there's a lot about strive i dont really care for but to be real, there's fuckery in almost every popular game.
I mean what kinda game literally encourages the player to play the game more safe and not play it better and still you would call a well designed game? Makes no sense.
I only play strive because ky's rtl has an end hit
GGS is a really cringe game.Typical characters, typical boring attacks aka "Effects badaboom",boring animations when a character takes from the air a sort of weapon that dissapears after usage, boring music made by college guys from local college rock-group.
Was a big fan of strive sol.
Not anymore haha

Strive is fun but lacks the depth of XRD
The biggest question for me isn't why people play bad games like Strive, it's why do people complain or even care about what *other* people prefer to play? Every Strive thread has loads of people whining about AC or XRD. Why don't they all just go play XRD together instead?
why are you so insecure about strive? You know deep down something is wrong with the game.
@@YourDaddysBelt69 Whoah take it easy there keyboard psychiatrist. Me and 2.5 million other players aren't insecure about Strive. I'm not the guy who goes to every Strive thread to cry about decades old games. I know I'm a low level scrubby player. Unlike these salty boomers I do not fancy myself as a secret tournament level high skill master, I have no illusions about not being good and not enjoying XRD or earlier versions(although XX is the only other GG I played way back on Dreamcast). I don't know why, but I homestly thought the GG boomers would be happy with Elphelt coming to Strive because players of "the most hated character" in XRD would finally move on so you could all finally shut up. Just go play other GGs because all your b1tching is not going to diminish Strive's popularity.
@@BeenNoticing Nice essay. You're demonstrating how insecure you are over opinions about a game you swear is so good. Thanks for proving my point, idiot. 😉
@BeenNoticing straight facts, all these Strive haters and it's not like Guilty Gear from a whole decade ago whinners, Strive ain't going nowhere so you might as well stop complaining if you don't like it go back and play XX or Xrd
@@YourDaddysBelt69I have to ask how is he an idiot your people on Reddit and Discord complaining about strive complaining about a character like Elphelt, I don't think he's insecure its more of he gets tired of seeing all the hate for a game that's already been out for 2 years and a character
So Do you think Strive is better than say,SFV?
Strive is trash, it's the only fighting game released in the last 10 years that I regret even buying.
Why?
Likewise and street fighter 6
@@koloowBecause it plays terribly. Looks GREAT, but the gameplay and mechanics feel way too linear and gutted.

I'm so conflicted with this game. This is the first GG (Well technically it was xrd rev 2 since I saw the strive teaser trailer I wanted to try out one of the previous games) but with all this sjw appeal their shoving in I don't know where I stand on it anymore. You can't say anything in regards with the whole Bridgette and Testament without hearing ill-informed idiots who tell you that you are homophobic. It's sad because I wanted to get into Guilty Gear. I love the characters, music, and yes even the lore but if this what it has been reduced to then the future for this series isn't looking to bright despite many people thinking that it is.
this is the worst reason to hate a video game

It’s not even a bad game lol. Mfs will call anything a bad game these days.
Let me guess you didnt even watch the full video? Strive does have good things, the characters.. but the game itself? Well look at all the problem it has, look at how contradictory it is to how it supposedly was supposed to be..the most risky game ever to jump in and all that other nonsense that was being spread about it, despite from the very get go you could tell that was not true.. or how the wall was going to change fighting games for the better, and yet later on the developers in their own interview admitted they had no idea what they were doing with the wall. Could go on and on ....
@@SaishuuKessen clickbait+skill issue
