I would have loved that as a kid, as a 5 year old, we lived right next to the ocean, so I'd take a wedge shaped block of wood I found and up to my waist in the water would zip the piece of would imagining a pt boat, it's funny, that piece of junk I found washed up on the beach was my best memory as a boy. lol

I won this kit at a theater that was having a model contest for the movie 1941, Well after playing with the model it got sorta wrecked. So one afternoon a bunch of us decided to light it on fire and blow it up with two cherry bombs. There is a river right down the street from my house. On goes the lighter fluid, in go the cherry bombs, puff goes the match and we have FIRE on PT-109. We thought the river would take it down stream, nope, it went almost straight across into the huge dead grass surrounding the river. KA-BOOM goes the cherry bombs, flaming parts go everywhere and we are burning down the ENTIRE field with a huge fire. Run became the word of the day, it was one of those OOPS moments we all had as a kid, never forget that one.

Had one back in the day (1970s) always wanted to get another... Great kit, though I never managed the RC control... I just had the rudders set... Loved the camera on the aft cabin! And the real PT-109 had a 37mm anti tank gun lashed to the forward deck- though no one ever puts one there on the model. (That was a common addition when one could be found!)

I’ve had two of these kits. 1st was in mid 80’s. The plastic gears melted down and I almost lost her. Upgraded to direct drive single screw setup. Built the 2nd one with my sons and put dual direct drive motors in her. Tried to put cooling system on motors, failed at that. Still have the 2nd one, waiting for grandkids now! Great fun at any age really

Keep at it. Try sea suctions. Worked great on the twin cummins 904s on the old trusty CG 41 footer. Never had to open the engine room hatches at full throttle even.

Great looking model, but one small point. The sailor manning the back Orlikon AA Gun; those are not handles, those are a shoulder harness. He should be wearing the weapon on his shoulders. Otherwise, fantastic job with the detailing.

On closer examination, a boater can see numerous similarities between the PT boats of yore and today's ocean racing craft such as the single-hulled boats made by Roger Fountain and his corporation; the engines even sound the same. Just goes to show how a good idea can live on and on and...

I LOVE PT-boats, especially 109. What puzzles me, is JFK´s remark after inspecting German Schnellboote after WWII: "They are better than ours." What a pity I don´t know what he meant exactly.

@sandrobarros8171 1 other question, the italeri 1/35 PT Boat Crew from Amazon looks different than yours. Is there an option to build it like yours? Also, did you paint them or did they come already painted like yours. Thank you in advance.

Hey there we go: I did a little model building back in the Seventies also!
I built RC Tanks, Model Warships, a few Cars n Trucks, Like The Beer Wagon. At that time I had a Shit load of those Miniature HoYo, or something 1/72 scale Toy Soldiers!
Ohh man You think 💬🤔 and talk back about that stuff, Wow. My mom Bless Her Soul, thought I was wasting valuable Time n Sniffing way too many Tester's Glue Fumes.
OF course no one every said try n make a Career of IT? Leastwise not around our House? Thanks for the Time Machine Ride Back. Lindberg, Marvel, Revel, the Japanese Mfg, I'll Look in to them Again. WYO, Robert,🇨🇦🇺🇲🇨🇦🇺🇲👀👀🙏🙏🙏🙏🧐🧐

Say what you will to the contrary, about both me and my comment and about this plastic model kit being better but, in all reality, and in truth, both this 1/32 scale Lindberg version of the PT 109 and also the 1/35 scale Italeri version of the PT 109 are nothing more than simple plastic models of which are outrageously way overpriced by at least $350.00 in a consumer-price-gouging tactic to rip off the unsuspecting consumer of their hard-earned money. That outrageously way overpriced by at least $350.00 high price still makes them nothing more than simple plastic models of which has nothing more in the kits than what the cheaper $25.00 Revel versions have except for being a few inches longer in length, a few inches wider in width, a couple of inches taller in height, and a few additional details molded into the plastic as well as all the parts themselves being just slightly larger overall in size. Oh, it has a motor and gears that comes with the kit to make it motorized you say. Big deal, look on amazon, you can purchase basically the same motor and gears for around $10.00 to $20.00 that still doesn't equal $350.00 up to $459.00 of which both the manufacturers and the people on eBay insist upon trying to sell (both new and used (or pre-owned)), these kits for. Go ahead, be my guest, be the fool and pay that outrageously way overpriced consumer-price-gouging price if you want, don't let me stop you. But I'm not going to be foolish enough to pay that kind of outrageous-consumer-gouging price for a simple plastic model even if it is slightly larger of somewhere around 30 inches in length rather than 18 to 24 inches in length. As the old adage goes, and of which still holds ever so true, "A Fool is soon parted with his money".

Sorry but I don't remember those kits being that price. I worked for a hobby distributor as a driver to hobby shops and always wanted the 109, I did get the 1/35th scale PT-956 Elco boat, but I got 50% off all my product there. But I do have to admit some of the current kit prices are out of control, even at my discount.
