Love it! The first shot is of my family's tomb....Uehara-Kinjo Kochibara in Itoman...I used to live about a block away in 1970! It's nice to see Okinawa how I remembered it....before revision...driving on the RIGHT side of the road, and Okinawa was still coming out of rebuilding itself from the war.
I agree as I was stationed at Kadena from 68-69…good times for sure meeting the people and exploring the island…never was at a loss for things to do there from visiting the northern forests to snorkeling in the bays…even tho I was Air Fotce, I stayed with the Marines at Fort Hague for 6-mos in a Quonset hut which wasn’t near as plush and comfortable compared to the Air Force barracks, but I was glad for the opportunity to experience that post…of all the stereo gear that I brought home, I bought most of it at the Marine and Navy posts as it was much less expensive than what we had to pay at the airbase…I also agree with you that those short years were s9me of the best of my life…
My second tour overseas was Okinawa. Landed in Dec of '70. Stayed till '72. Enlistment was up had to go home. Remember all the Japanese tourist bus's rolling by Camp Schwab as we marched along the road in full combat gear. They had a curious shocked look on their faces . Knew Okinawa was in for some big changes .
Yup ... and CHANGES their were! BTW, I had the distinct honor and privilege of, briefly, serving with, then Col. Vicente T. "Ben" BLAZ in Nov.'71 ..... before he was to become CO, 9th Marine Regiment, Camp Schwab.
Stationed at Camp Courtney '71-'72. Never wanted to go back after the Reversion as a civilian because I knew it wouldn't have been the same. I feel so fortunate to have met such wonderful Okinawan people, learn their culture, and see such beautiful scenery! ❤

He says thank you.
Okinawa 1970-72 I was the drummer in a Rock band called "TLA."
Some of the best years of my life!

Omg ..I lived right next to these tombs ...had one right outside my bedroom window ...it was a trip to say the least ❤️
沖繩 is not belong to japan
remeber 琉球 is country!!
Tony Bennett left HIS Heart in San Francisco, ... I left MINE on Okinawa! ('71-'72) ❤

7 years before Namie Amuro was born.
Needs less distracting music and moar quite touring .....
