As an 8-year-old boy, I quite literally ran into Colonel Sanders at the Harrisburg East Mall (Harrisburg, PA) in the Autumn of 1972. To this day, I vividly recall looking up at him in absolute wonder & awe. As an aside, in 1995 I randomly met Jerry Lewis at the Harrisburg East Mall, about 100 feet away from the very spot I met the Colonel. Life is funny, eh? 😃
I enjoyed reading your story. Coincidentally, I just published a short story about Colonel Sanders, centering on an eight year old boy's fictional encounter with him in a small, rural Texas town, in the summer of 1965. It's called "And on the 7th Day...God Created KFC!." I published it through Barnes and Noble. It's a small paperback. Based on your comment, I think you'd enjoy it, and, for whatever reason, see some odd similarities between your story and some elements in my book. It's only $4.99, and only available online. If you happen to order one, it would be great if you could post a review. So far, I don't have any. Either way, thanks for sharing your comment.
I love Alux so much. Thank you for all these life changing messages and videos. I'll like to see, '15 Things You Do Not Know About the Beautiful Voice Behind Alux'. Her voice resonates amazingly. ALUX ROCKS!
I know that he owned a gas station in Nicholasville KY, THEN sold it and opened a small diner across the street where he use to boot leg whiskey out of the back. He was caught and was told to either do jail time or leave town. He left town went to Corbin KY and as they say, the rest is history. All these facts are recorded at the Jessamine County Library. This is something you won't find in any biography about him.
4:54 Error: KFC Recipe is NOT 12 spices it's 11 plus the measurements are off. Here's the original recipe from the Colonel's nephew Joe Ledington who helped the Colonel mix it when he was young. He has an original copy from the Colonel he kept from a family scrapbook: 11 Spices - Mix with 2 cups white flour 2⁄3 tablespoon salt 1⁄2 tablespoon thyme 1⁄2 tablespoon basil 1⁄3 tablespoon oregano 1 tablespoon celery salt 1 tablespoon black pepper 1 tablespoon dry mustard 1 tablespoon paprika 1 tablespoon garlic salt 1 tablespoon ground ginger 4 tablespoons white pepper
When KFC was first time launched in Pakistan in 1997 dont remember correct year , I thought food is for free because people Karachi city were lined up out side KFC and waiting for food till dawn.
Great video only it's missing his ultimate secret recipe now also known to the public. Please see his life story, (1979 Col Sanders Interview all) & (Jim Bakker PTL Club with Colonel Sanders 1979) both on youtube. You will really get a blessing if you find it. I think everyone who works at KFC should also know the story of Col Sanders.
You said, "Although he wasn't quite quite a billionaire..", do you know why he wasn't a billionare? - Well, he had a franchise chicken restaurant in Canada which he gave away to charity for young Canadian scholarships. He also gave away $500,000 to the Salvation Army. He kept giving away his money, which, if you are a really valuable service to your subscribers, so called Aluxers - instead of keep saying, this site is for future billionaires, you should say, what is more important in your life than money is how much you do and give to other people.
Yep. His restaurant closed in Asheville North Carolina. Too bad that you can't do a 15 things on the Biltmore. The Biltmore is a legendary estate that's open to the public. I actually do business out of Asheville/Candler NC
Well, funny story. I went on a trip to Louisville, Kentucky expecting to find the city full of KFCs and to my surprise i found more Taco Bells than Kentucky Fried Chickens! I had to drove for almost 30min to go to the nearest KFC, which if you don't know, in the US driving for more than 15min to go to a fast food franchise is a ton of time! There are franchise everywhere...
The Colonel must have taken his secret recipe with him when he passed on. The taste, the quality of his recipe has gone downhill since he kicked the bucket!
I agree. We just had some the other week, and commented on the very same thing. I think the franchises get too worried about being health conscious, even though KFC's not supposed to be that, and they skimp on the seasonings, like salt, and other ingredients and cooking techniques that need to remain.
KFC is better in the Philippines IMO. Less greasy, and gravy is treated as a condiment. They have a gravy dispenser that you can get all the gravy you want from. The Colonel used to say publicly that he thought the mashed potatoes and gravy were like "wallpaper paste" - but I always liked the gravy myself. Although he called himself "Colonel Sanders", he was not a real Colonel. He was what is known as a "Kentucky Colonel".
I now just start reading about is story about his life is very interest with lot of thing that he did with is work i am so gald to find thing about he so that i can share with other yes that me hi story women.
I'm actually a relative of Colonel Sanders but I don't eat at KFC because I actually care about my health. That's not just a dig at just KFC but rather all the mass produced garbage that other people call food. The other day, I was eating lunch and someone asked me what I was eating because it wasn't your normal fare gobbled down by future cancer and heart disease patients. After hearing that I was eating kohrabi one guy said I was some sort of health nut and I replied "it beats being a sickness nut."
Hey Aluxers, who should we cover next?

I heard that he started kfc after his retirement.
And his recipe was rejected for more than 1,000 times.
Like Thomas Edison

When KFC was first time launched in Pakistan in 1997 dont remember correct year , I thought food is for free because people Karachi city were lined up out side KFC and waiting for food till dawn.
I had a piggy bank in the figure and design of Colonel Sanders when I was young. I should have kept it. It's probably a collector's item today.
Bought some KFC (some wings) today to eat with my salada for lunch at work !!! Great Video :-)

Kindly do a story on matthew mcconaughey
obesity is only a problem if you eat too much and do not get exercise... and the double down is actually a high protein meal great for weight lifters.
Aluxers!!! humble beginning ends with great rewards
Ok that UK one came to me as a huge surprise! o_0
If they ever replace his logo I will never eat there again
Why do I feel like I’m watching an ad for a dating agency?
First.. he wasn’t a billionaire. He only received 2 million when he sold the franchise to John Y. Brown Jr. JYB sold it to Heublein for 240 million.
The Colonel was NOT originally from Louisville KY. Kind of a shaky start for a video purporting to know things other people don't.
for chicken i like kfc more but for fries, ice cream and burger i prefer mcd
