Chu Wanning sure is a challenging role. Because of his way of cultivating he repressed his emotions for decades then his disciple Mo Ran awaken feelings/emotions that are aliens to Chu Wanning. Cold/aloof on the outside but lots of inner turmoils, confusion, insecurity, doubts, loneliness in the inside. Admired and loved by a lot of people yet he's resigned to live a lonely life. The role of Mo Ran is also challenging because he went through different phases of life where his perspective changed quite drastically (also because he's forced to undergo personality change because of a curse).. but he's expressive.. what you see is what you got type.
I am really satisfied with the casting of ErHa. They couldn't caste a better actor than Lou Yunxi for Chu Wanning. It is exactly how I, as reader expected him to look like and I have perfect faith in Lou Yunxi's acting to know he will really do well. Even Chen Feiyu as Mo Ran really looks good. He looks absolutely breath taking as TanXian Jun. I cant wait for the show to come out next year. Hopefully they havnt changeg the story as much as the rumors says.
The only thing i'm not satisfied is that they change the gender of Shi Mei, i was very curious which pretty boy they would cast to play Shi Mei but they ended up casting a girl instead 😭 i'm kinda heartbroken bcs i had high expectation for his character

I think Luo is more suitable as Feng Xin rather than Xie Lian. Idk why. Luo fits Chu Wanning description. As for Xie Lian, I think he's more soft around the edges, not Luo's kind of handsome. Forgive me i don't make any sense LOL.
He seems to have trouble with the role 😂 Chu Wanning is complicated yes. Meanwhile CFY is all like "I am Mo Ran, Mo Ran is me!" I also find it funny how he keeps avoiding saying he read the book but talks about the script and "its readers" rofl
Thank you for posting this with English subs. I love to listen to an actor’s approach towards his character before I watch his performance. With the sincerity of Luo Yunxi’s statements towards the role and the feelings he wants to convey, I think he will do a great job. 😁 Fingers crossed that he’s working with a good script and supported by a solid production/editing team. Unfortunately, no matter how skilled and in the zone an actor is, wonky editing can make an otherwise good drama difficult to watch. *sigh* 😞 So, once again I have my fingers crossed 🤞.
Lou Yunxi is perfect as the handsome, slender, long suffering & sometimes tortured Chu Wanning, nobody could play him better. Chen Feiyu is also just as I imagine Mo Ran to be. I’m so sorry that all these years later China will not allow this drama to be released. I hope they will have a change of heart soon.

Shimei is really tall. He isn't tall enough to play shimei physically. His physical appearance, aura and age fit Chu wanning perfectly. The way Shimei was written in the novel totally feel like a female to me.

He is absolutely bewitching and I think I’m starting to understand why my sister thought so highly of him. He is kind, graceful, just like the person Shi Mei pretends to be. But he is strong and unrelenting person underneath. So let’s just say he has the best of both worlds hehe. And Arther is perfect as Mo Ran. Just like a cute little wolf cub hehe

Not sure about Shen Qingqiu yet but I started reading Xie Lian couple weeks ago and I think he also quite fit with this character.
