I'm an architectural tech. in Ireland. Never heard of rafter tails. They do look okay but man do they look a pain in the bum to maintain and keep looking that pretty.
@@brian1157, That's true, but now this new overhang is only 3' above your head, windows, etc, without it, it's 15'. Makes a big difference and helps protect your head, windows, sliders, etc. If you don't like it though, that's all that matters.

I get the style they're going for, but it's just a false roof across the sides of the building. Waste of time.
