I think a follow up video could be you styling the specific pieces that you're on the fence about because you're not sure how to style them and then decide whether to keep them or not. You may have done this before, or maybe Alexis did this.
Fun fact absolutely no one asked for: the first video of yours I ever found and watched was a closet clean out yearsss ago. I absolutely fell in love with your channel so every time you post one it gives me a serotonin boost of nostalgia 😍
The pipeline of "I love this I can't wait to style this!" to "What was I thinking?" with the little berries and creme man in the corner had me! I feel that all too well lol!
I love it when you do these!! Just a thought-- you might want to change the way you hang your sweaters because they can stretch out big time at the shoulders. I fold mine in half and basically drape the body of the sweater + the arms of the sweater over the hanger (google will probably explain this better than me lmao)
When you have several items that are very similar, like the overalls, trying on each pair, one after another, really provides clarity re what's working and what isn't. I know this wasn't a try-on video, but if you truly wanted to winnow them down, that's what I'd suggest.
For dyeing the sweater: the fabric composition matters much more than the type of clothing. If it's 100% natural fiber (cotton, rayon, viscose, etc.) it will likely be super easy to dye, especially to a darker color of the same tone (warm or cool). If it's 100% synthetic (polyester, spandex, etc.), that is probably the second easiest to dye. If it's a mix of natural and synthetic, it probably isn't a good candidate for dyeing. Use Rit dye remover first to remove as much color as possible, then use a Rit dye of the corresponding fabric type (natural or synthetic), followed by a fixative (Rit sells this as well). I just dyed a few pairs of thrifted pants and would be happy to walk you through the process!
Agreed! Seconding this advice :) Also if you don’t mind some sections taking the dye and some not, occasionally dying a mixed natural/synthetic fabric can show up with cool funky details like contrast stitching or space dye vibes from where the dye didn’t take (it’s a gamble though). Team dye it and see all the way. I’ve turned stuff from my donate pile into heavy rotation items this way many times, it’s worth the risk :)
If you get really sweaty to the point where you can't wear the clothes you want, then maybe you should look into getting preventative botox! I can relate to sweating for no reason at all and it has really helped me. ❤❤❤
Helpful tip! For the items you haven't worn much, but think you'll wear more, put a date of 6 months out on a post it. Impale the post it on the hanger. If you wear it before the date, throw the post it away. If you haven't before next declutter, it's gotta go!
I love the white and brown flowery kind of one!! I would also but the checkered blazer set! Also the blue set is beautiful and I'm glad you are keeping it!
Loved this closet clean out! I felt like the pace was good. I wouldn’t be opposed to longer, but I get it, when you’re getting momentum you don’t wanna slow down. Loved it! Def wanna see this every time you do it! It encouraged us to get rid of our crap too
Also this totally made me more motivated to not ignore my closet and actually do a clean out. I always feel guilty getting rid of stuff because it makes me feel guilty for having spent money in the first place
Omg the last week i have been rewatching all of your closet clean out videos - not kidding just rewatching your closet clean out videos over and over ! 😂 Im so excited you posted this today LOL ive been needing the motivation!
I would love to see you do a capsule wardrobe for a season- especially pieces you thrifted. You could hunt for them for a season and then style the finds for a season
I would love to see a video where you analyze or react to previous closet purges, specifically the items you didn't keep. I think they are such good learning experiences and can help us from overbuying in the future when we've identified the reasons what we bought didn't work out (for fantasy self, short passing trend, etc.) and how we can avoid doing that in the future!
An idea 💡 for the red skirt with the white line you could sew some little bow details or any design like butterflies or flowers for example. Just measure the placement right and you make it seem like the white part is on purpose or you could cut an angled slit to remove some of the white and it looks purposeful! I'd love to see you do some thrift flips ❤❤
going through all your old band tees just makes me so nostalgic for your 2018-2019 era lmao like i remember when you wore those everyday😭 so fun to see your style change and evolve while holding onto those fun staples!
I bought clothes from Thredup once and none of them fit me right. But I do buy purses and wallets new with tags from them. I’ve bought Kate Spade and Coach purses from them. Wallets also and they were such great deals.
One thing I’ve found is helpful for me is to only buy clothes from ThredUp by brands I’m already familiar with so I know whether to size up or down. I’ve had the same experience with random off brands that are on there bc the measurements from ThredUp never seem to be correct
I love videos like these!! It's so nice that you actually took the time to show us every piece of clothing because I feel like most youtubers only show bits and pieces. But like I wanna see all your fun clothing items!!
I recommend Suay Sew Shop in the LA Arts District for dying! They have different colors every month and will dye pretty much anything. They also have an amazing outdoor thrift shop! 💗
Awesome vid!!! I love getting to see every piece and hearing your thoughts 🩷 my fav was definitely the sparkly circus vest, what a find!!!! I'd love to see a vid with your accessories/shoes/bags some day!!
Just a cute outfit idea for your leopard print skirt - wear it with a baggy band tee! Looks so cute either over the skirt or tucked in! Belt or no belt! I'm a huge fan of long leopard skirts with band tees! Your Iron Maiden shirt would be perfect!! 😍
I saw this awesome thrift flip 'tip' by someone on Instagram. All those slightly dodgy vintage tops - crop them! The ones she had turned out amazing! ❤
I was internally screaming for you to get rid of the black slip dress!! If you’ve already been on dates and rooftop bars and haven’t worn it, then just get rid of it - you have other things you clearly like wearing more.
I have double the amount of hanging clothes than you do plus all my sweaters are in a dresser so are my T-shirt, thank top, underwear etc.... so I’m in trouble lol. And I have other closets for coat and jackets that été almost bursting at the seams.
I’m a caregiver and what I learned from my client is store away any clothes that are between 2 size in Ass you fluctuate between sizes (saves you money not having to buy new jeans Everytime you gain or lose 20 pounds)
If you sell the pink Disney overall shorts pleaseeeeee let me buy them from you I have pink Disney ears with flowers and that would be perfect for my upcoming trip this summer ❤️❤️ loveee your videos btw
Just thinking 🤔 if you never wear the black and white flannel and it's damaged, why not remake it into something you would use? Like a cute hair bow or scrunchie 💡
I purchased from thredup and im Canadian. I got a code in my email so I used it and was so clobbered by the exchange rate as they did not show or change currency in their store. Its such a great store but if from another country other than US beware of currency rate!!!
Brown polka dot dresses always remind me of Julia Roberts in pretty woman at the Polo club. I LOVE it! Also, my name is Renee Zay, i live for Julia Gulia!! ❤😂
What needs to happen is WE need to go shopping with you and be your voice of reason. As in do a planned live stream and we vote in polls whether it’s a keep or pass.
I think a follow up video could be you styling the specific pieces that you're on the fence about because you're not sure how to style them and then decide whether to keep them or not. You may have done this before, or maybe Alexis did this.
I love that a handful of items were either thrifted by me or thrifted with me hehe
my style icon always!!!
Fun fact absolutely no one asked for: the first video of yours I ever found and watched was a closet clean out yearsss ago. I absolutely fell in love with your channel so every time you post one it gives me a serotonin boost of nostalgia 😍
this means SO MUCH TO ME!!! so happy you're still here 🥹❤
❤
Carrie: I'm going to be ruthless with this section.......also Carrie: I'm gonna hang on to this 🤣
why am i like this!!!!!
Not me talking to you thru the screen like "GET RID OF IT" "YES THIS IS CLASSIC" lollll
Me re regarding that top with the layered chiffon collar: I TOLD YOU SO.
For Drew’s old flannel, have it made into a pillow or teddy bear!
I remember when you got that pilgrim shirt and I was like "oh no Carrie" but I knew you had to go on your own journey with it. ❤
thank you for giving me space to realize i was an idiot
@@CarrieDayton of course ❤ ❤ ❤
A journey leading nowhere, LOL.
The pipeline of "I love this I can't wait to style this!" to "What was I thinking?" with the little berries and creme man in the corner had me! I feel that all too well lol!
The scream audio as you dropped the sweater was HILARIOUS, I don't know why it struck my funny bone 😂😂
I love it when you do these!! Just a thought-- you might want to change the way you hang your sweaters because they can stretch out big time at the shoulders. I fold mine in half and basically drape the body of the sweater + the arms of the sweater over the hanger (google will probably explain this better than me lmao)
I would love to see you doing like a clean out of gym clothes and short tops like drawer stuff! Cant get enough closet clean outs!!
When you have several items that are very similar, like the overalls, trying on each pair, one after another, really provides clarity re what's working and what isn't. I know this wasn't a try-on video, but if you truly wanted to winnow them down, that's what I'd suggest.
I can't with the Tris scream as you yeet the shirt 😂😂
For an introvert who never leaves your house you do have a ton of going out stuff 😂
I KNOW RIGHT LOL
@@CarrieDayton same here I go through my closet and I’m like where am I going?? What am I doing???
For the black and white Drew’s shirt-turn it into a shadow box project or a special pillow as a keepsake. 😊

CARRIE! Please list the slip dresses. We’re the same size and I would totally buy these from you off poshmark or whatknot 😭😭
List the Christy dawn dress!! I need a Mother’s Day dress
I love the white and brown flowery kind of one!! I would also but the checkered blazer set! Also the blue set is beautiful and I'm glad you are keeping it!
The transition at 21:39 was beautiful 🥹
I purged my closet at literally midnight last night after only 11 minutes into this video. I was INSPIRED. It feels so good!!!
8:04 ouf that maple leaf is hanging on for dear life 🤣
she's strugglingggg 😂
I love all the color you’ve been wearing and adding into your style lately! You look so fresh and reinvented, like very you!

I LOVE your closet clean out videos!! They inspire me to go through my clothes to find some things I no longer need too! 😍
I adore that brown and white checkered sweater because I have the same one from target! I get compliments on it all the time!
I would love to see you do a capsule wardrobe for a season- especially pieces you thrifted. You could hunt for them for a season and then style the finds for a season

This! I only buy from brands i regularly buy from. I sold twice and will just donate next time. It’s not worth the $20
Omg I’m overwhelmed at the Jeb ‘please clap’ insert😂 I reference that regularly in life to my husband. Excellent usage here. Dying 😂😂😂
I love videos like these!! It's so nice that you actually took the time to show us every piece of clothing because I feel like most youtubers only show bits and pieces. But like I wanna see all your fun clothing items!!
Love having a Carrie or Alexa video to watch while I get ready in the morning. Starting the day off on a good note 🥰

I would love a try on when you decide to get rid of things!
I have double the amount of hanging clothes than you do plus all my sweaters are in a dresser so are my T-shirt, thank top, underwear etc.... so I’m in trouble lol. And I have other closets for coat and jackets that été almost bursting at the seams.

Just so pleasing to watch, thank you 💜
I purchased from thredup and im Canadian. I got a code in my email so I used it and was so clobbered by the exchange rate as they did not show or change currency in their store. Its such a great store but if from another country other than US beware of currency rate!!!

That was very satisfying! Good job on letting things go.

That "tinker bell" dress would Mae the perfect dress for me for my nursing grad!! Are you selling it on Poshmark?!
What needs to happen is WE need to go shopping with you and be your voice of reason. As in do a planned live stream and we vote in polls whether it’s a keep or pass.
