I was actually just replaying Crash 2 and I think I figured out why the jetpack is so wonky. It doesn't preserve momentum relative to the level itself, like in real life. It preserves it relative to Crash's POV. so if Crash turns around 180, his momentum immediately reverses direction too. Not great if you just moved to the left to avoid Nitros, but turned around to get a box, and your momentum is now taking you directly towards the Nitros.

Crash 1 has no crouching, slides, or body slams. For level design, it has no crystals and you must finish each level in order. Each game in the trilogy uses a different movement tech to go faster. I think it is objectively appropriate to say they are 3 completely different games. Hope I was able to change your mind using a few examples.

I can't seem to find the time where they said that, but maybe they're talking about how there are lot of different things you can do while speedrunning the nsane version versus the og? The speedrun strategies are very different, things you can do in nsane you couldn't do in og and vice versa

Speed tech is different..
I.e hobslide or mach tornado is different to jumping and taking just lines.
If it is to the OG trilogy the neutral slide spin and zig zagging are also different to hobsliding and mach tornado
From a casual persectpive sure they are pretty close but from a speed strat its very different
