It's like this game took the book, movies, and games and made the ultimate combination so that anyone can get that nostalgic "I'm finally home" feeling.
There are plenty of beans in the game. Penny is eating a whole box of them in the shop you own for example. The guys in the hospital ward are having a go at it, a few students in the yard and there are literally beans in every other house or shop you enter or sneak into which you can make your character much on.
The feeling I would get from imagining the wizarding world beyond the castle when reading the cards about all these famous wizards and witches is exactly how I feel exploring the hamlets around Hogwarts. It's even how I wanted the Fantastic Beasts to be like, adventures set in rural areas and forests, meeting weird and curious and dangerous creatures, and certainly not the very urban centers of the world at the time. The developers certainly seem to understand the Harry Potter magic we felt better than a certain you-know-who, who lost the grip of the series and, you know, even reality itself.
I only feel Hogwarts itself isn't as magical to explore as in earlier games. It seems to me older games had more magic secret entrances and passageways, with areas behind mirrors, moving bookcases, elevating platforms leading to a very secret and atmospheric attic. There's still a little bit of it in there, but there's like 5x less of these in a castle 5x bigger, so insert Bilbo's bread and butter analogy here. Overall it feels like exploring a normal castle. Take alohomora, for instance, it's a lockpick minigame, it was supposed to be a magic spell and feel magical! And all for a boring glove in a different color 3 times weaker than my current one. And my only form of income is to sell these when my inventory is full every 20 minutes. But that's not a problem with Hogwarts Legacy itself, it's a complaing with all modern open-world RPGs, they somehow all thinkt it's the best of fun to have a huge explorable world for you to play a goddamn junk seller.
@@BenjaminSnow but for real, I really missed being able to jump freely in HP games. So now that I started playing the game today - yeah, I did jump quite a lot when just running around the world. Sometimes, the game really surprised me with how fences or bridge guardrails weren't invisible walls, and I could just jump over. Unfortunatly, not all of them are like that, some do act as solid walls. But still, it's been a joy.
Hahaha Actually, the PS2/Xbox/GC version of Philosopher's Stone came out in 2003, a full 2 years later, based on the same assets as Chamber of Secrets PS2. But it's still awesome to see they took the best parts.
Potential spoiler: I haven't played enough to confirm but to me it does feel like Amit might live up to being one. I haven't even met Poppy yet, just saw her/heard mentions of her in the world but there has been some dialogue with Amit already.
The second one is literally just the chime of Hedwig’s Theme with a different backing track “It’s some sort of chime, that’s so magical yet almost haunting” like wtf are you talkin about 😂😂 Number 5 you just rambled on about shit you liked, like this should not have been a full video 😂😂

Exactly!
Flippendo was mentioned in the books, the movies doesn't have the spell

When I saw the way you learn spells it took me just right back to the old games. They truly made this game with *everyone* in mind.
Absolutely! Brings so many memories..
This is amazing! I used to play the magic out of Chamber of Secrets on PC as a kid. I'm so excited to head back to Hogwarts tonight! 🐍
The amount of nods to the og games makes me so goddamn happy dude
I used to play the ps2 chamber of secrets like my life depended on it. It felt so magical.
I can’t wait for this
Just looking back at what we had before and what we have now is so surreal
I agree with you on the last one

I'm literally playing the old games as I wait for it to release in the UK
That’s a great way to prep yourself!
Great video. The music, particularly the instrumentation, also echos the musical style of HP1 on PC in many ways…
When I started playing this game, it made me nostalgic for the PS1 and PS2, Harry Potter games
That is pretty neat for the developers for adding those into the game.
Nah, dude, the biggest thing that makes it like the old games, especially games 1-3 PC is...
Jump!
Haha

@@wariolandgoldpiramid yeah the game is very fun to play! SO much to do and yes, I do jump and roll a lot as well
Good to know, loved those old games back in the day, now happy with the success of Hogwarts Legacy, there still hope for this industry!
💯
I love this comparison so nostalgic
I can't wait to get my hands on this.
I'm so glad so many Potterheads are enjoying the nostalgia. Just like me :)
there's no more bean room!
Okay this is like the 5th youtuber with early access that been rocking purple hair, i sense a conspiracy

My bad.. there were quite a few version around those years 😅
I’ve been waiting for a video like this for like ever! Now the real question is, can you cast a Patronus to fight dementors?
That’s a very good question!
@@BenjaminSnow after beating the game, you cannot do either of these things.
You can visit Azkaban ONLY as a Hufflepuff.
@@AtomicDudMan Ohhhh! That's interesting! and very cool!
I enjoyed this Video, The Comparison to the Old Harry Potter game to Hogwarts Legacy is Amazing.👍
The story keeps me on my toes.
For sure 👀
This is honestly amazing because I just made Harry to remake that exact game oh man the memories 🌹❤️🌹
Oh awesome!
why not the pc versions of the old games?
That will come in the future
is there a ravenclaw companion?

This game borrows stuff from books, movies and previous games too. I get flashbacks to previous games.
💯
Ben, you’re a gem
Appreciate it!
take five?
