ChrisTavare is not a name that ever gets mentioned as an '81 England Ashes hero. But his 69 and 78, in nearly 12 hours at the crease, were crucial in a match England won by 103 runs. He kept England afloat in their first innings and Ian Botham company in their second!

Martin Kent listed at six for Australia? Great opening batsman for Qld, surprised to see him at 6

Whitneys action changed quite considerably over his career. People always talk about the moments involving Botham and there were many but there were other moments where Australia had control of a particular game only to let it badly slip. The Tavare Allott and then Allott Willis partnerships were one such.

This is what makes cricket such a unique sport. There's not many sports in which a side can dominate for 75% of the match and still lose!
