Hallo, Garmisch Partenkirchen.
Wonderful video. 🤩This beautiful island has a sincere air. It has not been betonised by tourism industry and it still preserves its untouched nature. Its limestone cave is marvellous and it offers unique experiences such like port boarding gondola or touring all natural beauty corners of the island with a scooter. It has also lakes. I wish to visit someday in future after watching your video. Thank you for introducing us Minamidaito Island by sharing your video. 🙏In my opinion you also contribute the introduction of this island by sharing your video. 👍
Thank you very much. Your comment encouraged me very much. Not many Japanese have visited Minamidaito Island. This is because the transportation is not convenient. That is probably why the island is not very touristy. However, in recent years, the number of tourists as well as immigrants has been increasing. Eventually, this island may accelerate its transformation into a tourist destination. Please visit this island before that happens. Have a nice trip!😄
Hello, there are many Japan Vlogs, but yours is the best from my perspective. Shinjuku, and Shibuya are nice, but they’ve been vlogged to death 😊. This vlog show a different side, a more Japanese side, if that makes sense. I was truly fascinated, and thoroughly enjoyed what I saw. The limestone caves were such a huge surprise!😮 Your production of this Vlog was truly professional, and told a story that made me feel like I was there. I can’t wait for the next episode in this saga. Thank you for sharing.👍😊
Thank you for your comment. I am so glad you watched this video. For me, everything was new in this island that I visited for the first time. You are right, this island is also Japan itself. Your words make me want to prepare another trip. I wish you a good trip too!😄
Thanks for this informative and unique video. It makes me like going to Minamidaito Island myself. Now, I know what living on an isolated island is like.
I would love to take this trip when I travel to Japan next May 2024, because I’ll be going from Tokyo to Naha and then Naha take the ferry. This is going to be some memorable beautiful trip. Greetings from Montreal .Canada
Thanks for your comment from Montreal. I hope your trip to Japan next May will be wonderful. Your experience in the Daito Islands will be unforgettable.😊
I havent been to Okinawa in Decades I used to fly patrol over these islands a hundred of times we never stopped or landed at the ones with airports nice video
Glad to get a comment from you, who has watched Okinawa from the sky countless times. Both visiting the islands and viewing them from above are very enjoyable experiences.😄
I would like to move to the Daito Islands too. The number of people moving to the Daito Islands is increasing every year. The Daito Islands are expected to become even more prosperous in the future.😃
You have a great sence of adventure. Really enjoy learning more about Japan, I didn't know there was sugar cane and beautiful limestone caves. Thanks for this video

It is evident that with so few passengers and cargo the ship owner does not obtain economic benefits, unless he has subsidies from the Japanese state. The discovery of the tourist cave is impressive...
In order to maintain life on remote islands, support from the government and local governments is necessary. This ferry will continue to operate. The inside of the limestone cave was full of surprises. I want to visit that island again.😸
At 22:55, a huge rock with 石敢當 carvings was shown, and the closed caption says it has its origin in Naha .. Well, the history of this kind of rock placement and its carvings started in China, the Yuan 元 dynasty, with the wording going much further back in the Han 漢 dynasty .. It is marvelous to see that the tradition travelled so far as to reach this remote island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, and still in its correct context and application .. that it is usually placed in a T road intersection, to mitigate the bad feng-shui 風水 ..
I am amazed at your knowledge of Okinawan culture and history. The rocks were introduced from Okinawa to the Daito Islands, and it is interesting to note that the Daito Islands have been strongly influenced by the culture brought by immigrants not only from Okinawa but also from the Izu Islands. It is interesting to see these cultural relics. I will continue my ferry trips and trips to the islands. Have a nice trip!😆
An opportunity to adventure denied me by powers that be. Convenient for them. Creating differences to justify their privileges. Nice to enjoy this way though. Could almost experience the fresh air. Almost.
I don't know if I completely understand your point of view, but I completely agree with you that the journey is a wonderful one. Thanks for your comment!😀
I really enjoy this. I laugh when they didn't allow any alcohol on the boat to the island. But the island was so beautiful. The hotel looked nice. I'm glad they let you check in early. The scenery was beautiful specially the views over the ocean. The one I liked was the cave and you had it all to yourself which was beautiful and creepy at the same time. And the food you ate on there look good to you. I enjoyed it
Hello! I'm glad you enjoyed my videos again. Minamidaito Island, it was a wonderful place. I didn't expect the ferry to prohibit alcohol, but it was still one of the most memorable trips I've ever had. It is amazing to see such huge limestone caves on such a small island. I will be back for my next trip!😆
Thank you for the experience. Too old to travel anymore so this is a treat. Miss my days of traveling adventure. Enjoy your narrative, very informative. Take care and God bless. 🙏🙏🙏

What a great trip and video. Again, another isolated island in Japan. 4:06 wait a minute, is that Yoshimoto Logo? My experience on this island was very memorable for me. I would like to visit this island again. Please stay tuned for a video of Kita Daito Island!😃🌴🚢
On this trip, I realized how important the small boat was to the ferry's landing on the bluff. The waves are so high on this island that the ferry cannot get very close to the shore. It would be difficult to connect the bridge from the ferry to the wharf.😄🚢
Nice video. I do not remember a train in Naha when I was stationed there in the mid 90’s. Worked at the port terminal near the airport dealing with US merchant ships and tankers. Love the Shisa, lion dogs. They usually are in pairs guarding an entrance to a building. One has its mouth open to keep the evil spirits away, while the other one is on the other side of the entrance has its mouth closed to keep the good spirits inside the building. I like it when you said use them with good manners about the microwave and fridge. Reminds me when Japan was in the World Cup and there was a story about the team leaving their locker room spotlessly clean when they were finished using it. A very Japanese thing, for sure. The island looks very relaxing and I’d like to stay there for a few days.
Thank you for your comment. You have worked at a port in Okinawa and know a lot about Okinawan culture and the nature of the Japanese people. I am so glad that you watched this video. The Okinawa Monorail opened in 2003. It is currently the only railroad in the entire Okinawa Prefecture. In the past, Minami-Daito Island also had a railroad that ran around the island to transport sugar cane. It was meaningful for me to see the tracks of that railroad on this trip. I would like to travel to the Daito Islands again someday.😊
@@capsulejapan I was also stationed on 3 ships in Yokosuka. Loved it there, but was expensive lol. Would love to visit there again, and now with the apps for the trains it will be a lot easier to get around. I want to visit Kyoto just to see my favorite band perform in person, Tachibana SHS band, they are amazing with tons of enthusiasm and energy.
You are very knowledgeable about Yokosuka and Japan. I did not know much about Tachibana SHS, but I became interested in it after searching on the Internet. Thank you!🙂
Thank you for sharing this video. Where can I reserve a boat ticket? Is it available every day? thanks~
Thank you for your comment. You can only book this boat by phone. It's a shipping company called Daito Kaiun. They also take calls in English. The boat leaves from Naha Port about 7 or 8 days a month. I hope you enjoy your trip to these islands.😸

Thank you!🙂
Beautiful!
Thank you! 🙂

I wonder why the video of going to Kitadaito was deleted. It was my favorite video
Sorry. There was a slight inconsistency, so I removed it once. I will revise it and publish it again in the near future.😸

Isolated?!?!😮😮😮😮😮😮
It is an isolated island in the southern part of Japan in the middle of the ocean. Few Japanese people have ever been to this island.🚢😄
Oh yes ❤
Thank you! Have a nice trip. 😃🛳️
Brilliant. This is the kind of ship adventure I really enjoy.
The Daito Islands are also unknown to many Japanese. This trip was a series of discoveries.😆
I bet that's exactly how they got the crane there, too.
That is certainly true. Did they hoist the crane with a crane?
