Edit 1: The main reason they scrapped the original concept is because by 2020, 5/7 of the members would have graduated and left the group with two people. This concept also caused a lot of trauma for all the members and fans. Jisung, blue hair, youngest, broke down on stage during their first concert (after Mark had already graduated) because of his fear of his and the members' future. I hate SM with a passion, and this is one of the reasons why! Luckily, they all seem a million times happier now that the 7 members are together again! Edit 2: I think the whole "Mark is afraid of Haechan" thing is a joke, they are actually best friends as they are the only two in both NCT Dream and NCT 127! It's kindof a 'haters to lovers' type thing (HC annoyed Mark so much as trainees that he almost left the company) so maybe that's what they are referencing? Haechan also really enjoys teasing the other members, and due to Mark being his bestie, he does target Mark quite a bit. Edit 3: Yes, Haechan (far right) is singing the high note! And Chenle, right next to him, sings the second one! Our Dreamies!! They are truly our babies and many of us have watched them grow up right before our eyes. Even though they are only aged 21-24 right now they have 7+ years of experience under their belt and have known each other and worked together for a decade. I like to joke they kind of have a "hive mind" in that they instinctively understand one another and blend with each other, whether in voice or dance, so beautifully. These 7 boys have a chemistry that is off the charts and I think SM knew this was lightening in a bottle and could probably never be truly replicated again. The graduation concept was really hard on everyone although I can understand the idea at its base. It's really difficult and expensive to debut new kpop groups and it takes a great deal of preparation. What do you do if you have a trainee that is ready to debut but a group is not ready to go? Are they just supposed to wait around (as many have done in the past)? Dream would have given young idols a place to debut and develop (although I personally think the SMRookies concept already does SOME of that) and get experience in performing. But not only are these 7 just perfect together and too beloved to split up, managing the complexities of a graduation system and finding permanent line ups for each member who graduates that work as well is just too huge an ask I think, both for members and fans. And we are lucky that in NCT we have a rotational unit- NCT U. In those songs we can see unique combinations of so many different members working together and creating new synergies while also having fixed groups that give each performer a main base or home. The only downside or difficulty to all this is on Mark and Haechan. They have insanely busy schedules and have to work incredibly hard to fill their roles in both teams. I know this is a big ask on the both of them (and their members know it too) but I could also never imagine them being separated from either group. And they love and adore both their teams so they keep giving their all which I admire soooooo much. Now that the older Korean members of 127 will begin their mandatory enlistments, 127 will slow down a bit and hopefully the load on Mark and Haechan will ease a little.

The thing about the units is that each one has a different purpose and vibe, while still maintaining the signature "NCT sound". Once you become familiar with their music, you can hear it. NCT 127 is very experimental + rap and vocal heavy (big rap parts, big high notes). They also promote the most in the US out of all the NCT units. For the mark being scared of haechan fact, at the beginning their personality clashed since haechan is a huge joker and moodmaker and mark was still getting used to Korean culture as he is from Canada. They are insanely close now as they are in both Dream and 127 together, often dealing with hard and long schedules together.

haechan, the one on the extreme right, is the best vocalist in nct dream and it’s so evident here in this killing voice 😭once you start being able to recognise his voice you’ll be able to hear him dominating most of the choruses because his voice is extremely strong ALSO yes he’s the ones usually belting the extremely high notes
All of NCT Dream are strong vocalists but Haechan, the one with the unique voice that you could pick out even with your eyes closed is actually NCT Dream's main vocalist. They even out their vocals in Dingo but they have a lot of live performances that Haechan showcases his role as a main vocalist.
