  • Third time's a charm ... or in my case the third video! That´s because it took me three videos until I have finished at least two of my platforms. This video combines the accomplishment of 4 days worth of work. Prepping the steel platform edge, getting the lanterns ready to be installed and "paving" the platform. I am also getting back to my power supply which is finally wired by my electrician.

    Its looking really well. The track inspector did not look very pleased at the light installation part; but the Railway Managers he brought along later seemed very pleased

    There should also be a fuse at the output of the 24V power supply to protect your devices.

    • @summitrailway
      @summitrailway  2 месяца назад

      Between the power supply and my digital central station ther is no need for a fuse. I will incorporate some fuses in the lighting circuit!

    Nice work with the lamps👍. But, I wonder why you are not using Plastic pipes for all those wires routed under the pebbles like you did earlier with the signaling and track power supplies.👍

    • @summitrailway
      @summitrailway  2 месяца назад +1

      Over the years I tried many methods to do this, they all have positives and negatives. I settled with the simplest way as you have seen. Once I tried to use plastic pipes. It was blocked by stone and debry at the day I wanted to repair the lantern. So I was forced to remove the plattform pavment anyways to change the plastic pipe with the lantern at once...

      Thank you! I´ve got 5 inspectors on duty, each on it´s own Area of Expertise. They are doing a great job for the most part. The only truble I have is with my geologist chicken, it often simulates landslides especially in the big station area. I´ve got a problem with that to be honest...

    Very good job. I also used a primer glue to fix the little stones. It's expensive but fantastic as it allow the water to drain without forming puddle. Fantastic is the iron border you used. Unfortunately I 've no iron soldering tools and experience. Why don't you protect the iron with antirust paint?
    Very useful the part on the electrical connection.
    Could you explain better the electrical supply scheme. Which kind of transformer 220v-24v are you using? I see you put many switch before the transformer and I wonder why

    • @summitrailway
      @summitrailway  2 месяца назад

      Thank you for your interest. I want the steel edge to rust so it gets a rust red color. It will be fine for many years even without paint since this is very thick steel and it won´t rust very fast due to the dry climate and no standing water on it. I have build a similar edge 5 years ago and beside the surface rust it is in very good shape. I made a video about the installation of my electrical supply, this might give you some answers.
      ruclips.net/video/chWWlh3tEEE/видео.html
      The many switches in front of the transformer all have a reason. I have 2 transformer so I have two on/off switches, one for each of them. Those are mounted to the right. In the middle there are 2 breaker units, each for every transformer. And last but not least there is a RCD "Residual Current Device". Breaker units and RCD are mandetory in Germany for such a installation, those will be constantly switched on. I will use the two switches to power on or off my whole layout.

    Great job Robert. Once again your video is a very informative tutorial. That station building is really nice. Did you scratch build it or is it a kit? If so who makes it?

    • @summitrailway
      @summitrailway  Месяц назад

      I bought the building of eBay. The guy told me that he promised the manufacturer not to tell anybody who has build this scratch build model. So long story short he in deed didn´t tell me. But you can get a similar model from the german manufacturer "Große Modelle". They are very nicely build but also very expensive.
