Glad I could help! If you have a router, you may also look at getting some TnG bits. Makes it a lot easier and more repeatable.

Dado blade makes this 10x easier. Why didn't you use that?

Great question and I agree entirely! I used a standard blade because more people have access to them and dado’s are illegal in certain parts of the world. But you’re right, toss the right dado on and it’s just as easy if not more.

Sounds like you have used your router table to make tongue and groove workpieces, is that right? Did you use a T&G bit set to do that? Which one? Thanks!

Great question Steve. I have used the router table in a couple of different ways. First was with an up spiral bit manually cutting the groove then a matching tongue. Not terribly hard but also prone to error. I also have a TnG bit like you referenced and it worked beautifully once you figured out how to adjust the two bits to form the mating joint. Below is a link to the Freud one I have. It’s worth it if you’re doing any amount of TnG work.
      How’s your shop coming along??

Thanks for the response! We (my daughter and I) are thinking about building a dining room table including a TnG tabletop. I’ll check out the link below.
Thanks for asking about the shop. I’m just putting the finishing touches on a mid century modern end table. For me this project was a skill builder. It includes tapered legs with 15 degree angle cuts. The legs and tabletop have been rounded on both sides (should have bought a bull nose router bit 🤦‍♂️) which, after round overs, required the belt/ spindle sander to make them as exaggerated as I wanted. Plus, the entire build was done with dowels. I’ll use figure 8 clips to attach the tabletop though. Like I said, for me it was a skill builder but for you and others, would be a piece of cake.
      Anyway, all the best!

Totally forgot the link, here it is 😂 amzn.to/4aMHCmV
Man, that’s sounds like a fun project! It’s nice to have those projects periodically that push the boundaries of what you have been able to do in the past. When you’re done, I would love to have some photos emailed to me. Love seeing the stuff people are working on.

Simplest way is a shaper with a 3 wing cutter half inch tooth

Totally agree, I have a router bit that emulates that but I’d love to get a shaper at some point 😂
