I followed the principles of this golf gawd and I shot 95 last weekend with 2 lost balls. Soon, I will use these simples steps and break 90! Thanks baus
I had a horrible front 9 was gonna walk off, stuck with it, used your advice of easy shots laying up being tactical and ended up shooting an 88 4 over on the back 9... My best ever! 🎉
-I shot my personal best of 43 on the front 9. -Usually 50 47 49 48 51. -I hit 5/9 fwys with driver. 2 par 3s I was on. So 7/9. -I hit 6/9 GIR. I only used Diver, 54 and 58, PW, 8i, 9I and 4 hybrid. It was crazy. 20 putts. 2 3 putts and 1 penalty. Literally mental. Clear your head. Hit shots on the fairway and chip on. Don’t hit bomb 3 woods or Be Bryson and lose a ball: Play YOUR game and YOUR distances to improve YOUR round. No double chips, and no 3 putts. Literally will be in the 40s every round.
Your teaching approach has made all the difference for me. I broke 100 for the first time today and finished with a 96. I’m a 62 year old, petite 5.2” retired lady returning to golf after a nearly 30 year hiatus as a result of my career and raising a family. For the first time, I feel confident with the majority of shots I am choosing. Not everything you demonstrate applies to me as I don’t have anything close to your distances with my clubs. My average drive is 130 yards, but chipping and any approach shot within 90 yards are my most “confidential” shots. Thank you for sharing your wisdom-you can’t imagine how much it is appreciated!
Hey Matty - wanted to give you a major shoutout! two years ago was constantly hitting over 100. after watching several of your videos i shot a personnal best on tuesday 84 and you wont believe it it included a hole in one! Thanks baus
Just broke 100 the first time this season. Best game of my life. Shot a 94. Followed your principles and techniques, along with a getting a great coach as you suggested. Went from 130 to breaking 100 in my first serious season of playing golf seriously. Thank you!!
I’m shooting my best scores ever using your advice. Focusing on leaving the driver in the bag as much as possible and hitting my tee shots to a comfortable approach distance has been a literal game changer. I’m hitting more greens and leaving the ball in easier spots when I miss. Plus it’s a style of play that’s easier to maintain if you don’t practice/play every day like the pros do.
Approaching 18 I hit my fav layup, and duffed it. Bladed to the right. I slammed my club to the ground (not proud). Looked up, and saw the ball hit the top of the trap and rolled left onto the green. Made the birdie putt. Matty you are right. Emotional Control!
Just played a round, unfortunately we forgot the score card and the mailbox on hole two hahaha Your videos and course management help me keep score low tho, cheers
Ive been shooting in the 80s after much practice and chasing that elusive under 80 score. On these excursions it helps me to narrate out loud in chief playa voice like your videos. Helps to keep me focused and take off the pressure. Loved your series in scotland and in the US. Greetings from Florida playa
Applied the approach the past 2 weekends. Went from +100 to 88 and 85 (2x). Granted, I was a 90 scorer 2 years ago but haven’t played until 1 month ago. 2 rounds of slices and “approach gain” BS, left me with 105+. Harnessed my inner “confidentiality” and applied every single approach Matt preaches. Bammm. It works🎉🎉🎉🎉
To add, I went to a new course this weekend in Malaysia that used carts. Made several short game mistakes as caddie only brought 58 vs P. after several duffs, we had a talk about my matty boom boom approach. Instant improvement!!!!
I finally broke 100 and thanks a lot to your videos. You were absolutely right that it wasn’t by a few strokes. I ended up with a 91 and when I looked at my card I probably missed out on a few opportunities to go lower. Also, I dumped the Driver that round too as I’ve been slicing it the last few weeks. Thanks!
Just shot 88. 41 on front. Had a good time and met a nice new friend. Used 5 iron from the tee frequently. Got a 2 on a 160 par 3. If I stick with the plan for an entire round I know I will become a master. Thanks Matty boom boom.
I'm a 32.5 handicapper and have just finished my second competition round. The last one I played, I was paired with 3 guys who were miles better than me, and I stupidly tried to keep up with them, so played the worst round in a year and scored 102. Today I kept the driver in the bag for 15 holes and used my 7 wood for most of the others (those that weren't par 3) with the strategy of playing safe, and it I hit a good shot, then it would work out well, but if i didn't, it would be fine. I scored 95, and could have done better but my back injury started giving me jip from around the 16th so dropped more shots. All this came from watching your videos. 😁 [edit: Handicap has just been updated to 24! ]
Sidekick you ever gonna do some videos like you used to brining out a friend that shoots 90-100? Miss those videos not that I don’t enjoy the current. Just loved the music when the mistakes happened.
I wish i could but i do them privately now without recording. The editing time is too long. And the commitment level to the process is annoyingly short. Most previous features stars are no longer in thailand or we have drifted apart
I felt like a baus yesterday not going for the green on par 3 and laying it up short to avoid bunkers. Made a nice chip and one putt for par. Before these videos I would have gone up a club and into the bunker with the contact I made. No hero shots, plan the hole, shoot your good shots, make your game more fun 🤙
Hey Matty, great vid! I've taken Toe Down chipping to heart and had a lot of success with it. With that being said, the course I play a lot has a lot of raised greens with big slopes around the perimeter of them. What play would you recommend in a situation like that? I have a pretty comfortable flop shot I use, but when I try to help out friends who are beginners, I don't know what to recommend when there's a lot of verticality. Just want to impart some confidentiality when I'm playin with my boyfriends. Thanks
Not being facetious. Play easier golf courses is all they should be doing. Raised greens you can still toe down but sounds to me like they are getting short sided and want to chip out close. You just have to accept that it’s a tough Shot and get it anywhere on the green. Play easier courses If you can’t, then avoid the short side
@@GolfSidekick Money answer! It's a local muni course stuck inside a park in the city, not too many other options locally, but that's okay! we can practice our strategy on tough shots like these, or avoiding them with your tips. Thanks for the answer, waddaman!
My home course has lots of raised greens. Lots of guys just use the putter if not confidential with chipping. Works well if the sides of the greens are mowed short.
Last night my front nine shot a 54 using driver. The back nine I said I’m not confidential with this club. I did the back 9 to 5 iron, six iron, lob wedge and putter. Scored 43 like a baus
I use a similar system, I try to hit G.I.R plus 1 and 2 putt. So on the green in 3 on par 4,2 on par 3 and 4 on par 5. I've hit low 90s and broke 100 many times using this mantra, hope to break 90 soon
When are you going to do a video of how to break 110. I asking for a friend of mine not me. Really I am. Also I am putting a lot of sunscreen on my face and not playing any better. Is it a certain brand and can I buy it in Iceland?
I’m not him, but I think these same strategies will work for break 110. When I was over 110, it was the penalty strokes that were absolutely killing me. I’m now between 100 and 110 consistently, and it’s because I’ve practiced putting, stopped pulling driver on every single hole, and worked hard at minimizing penalty strokes. The penalties now don’t kill me, they just wound me deeply. 😂
I think it’s important for beginners to play the tees up front .. no need for them to try to play from the white or blue tees .. play from the senior until you get better
Matt! My last 3 rounds have been atrocious. A 131, 122 and 112. Today I used 6 clubs: 4 hybrid, 7 iron,9 iron, pw, sw and a putter. Stopped playing like an arsehole and shot a 93, breaking 100 for the first time. The way of the playa really works wonders
This is common sense. But the thing with common sense is because its has the word "common" on it we tend to not to value it. Following this method not only there are more chances to break 100 but also to enjoy the game way better
When you getting Josef Bidet and Donny Trumpfs on the show? Presidentiality edition. Bidet states confidentially he got down to a six as VP with your vids.
With a 8 iron and a sand wedge, everyone can break 110 unless they are putting severe mental barriers in the way. Then they need to work in their self sabotage away from the course

Broken 100 twice now after 6 months of golf thanks to your videos. Thinking about getting some lessons before replacing my handme down clubs!

I’m always right playa. Perfect shots hardly exist. Its mainly luck
I’ve been learning for just over a year and I scored 83 from the yellow tee’s virtual St. Andrews course. Real golf is so much more difficult.
