This song brings KPOP original sound especially from 2nd generation with a little twist of modern KPOP. This group is also the oldest one promoting at the moment I think, so the songs sounds incredibly different and unique. Usually boy groups songs are labeled noisey but ONF is more on the vocal side so they can pull this type of sound. I recommend their songs We must love, WHY and Moscow Moscow, also Beautiful Beautiful for more of a bright song. Their lyrics are always poetic and in Korean way and the MVs are filled with messages and metaphors so I enjoyed your deep analysis a lot!
See I don't know hardly anything from 2nd gen so I wouldn't have known that 2nd gen had a lot of similar sounds. That's pretty cool that not only do they still promote but that they're still bringing influence from the early days of kpop! Thank you for the recommendations :) Would you like to request one of those songs? If so, I can add it to the queue for you but if not, I'll be happy to check them out on my own! Thank you for watching and so glad you enjoyed! It always makes me smile when ppl enjoy my breakdown (or at least my attempt lol) because there are times when I wonder if I should keep doin that or if I should only do the initial reaction part. Hope to see you for more content! Not sure what other groups you may be into but there's a decent chance I've covered something else you might enjoy on the channel.
@@JeffReacts12 @JeffReacts12 Our fandom (ONF's) would appreciate any reaction you do for ONF! If you do like to analyse the meaning behind songs and music videos a lot, add "Why" or "We must love" to your queue (: Otherwise just enjoy them on your own if you're already busy with lots of other reactions ^-^ Really enjoyed your reaction and interpretation of the meaning of the mv! (Would have never though about that chaos and order part in that library set) Oh and I think that purple could also bee seen as "stained" because usually a feather (bird) can be viewed as freedom and because the feather is stained, you might be unable to break free or being hold down by something (by that monster inside us). Kind of representing the coexistence of both sides in us!
Thanks so much for watching and I'm really glad you liked it :) It's very kind of you and the ONF fandom to appreciate reactions! Sorry my response took so long, YT put your comment in the "held for review section" for some reason. Haha I'm glad I could add something from my interpretation that you liked and resonated with and thank you as well for the interpretation of purple! That makes sewnse, especially in context of the rest of the imagery. I am about 4-5 mos behind on requests but for anyone willing to be patient, i never mind adding more! Only 1 per person though to keep it fair. Would you rather see Why or We Must Love?
@@JeffReacts12 Oh damn that a hard choice:D But i think I would choose "We must love" first as an request since is kind of a fan favourite and lots of people love the song a lot! Looking forward to your reactions 🫶😁
@kathy_lee8887 you got it my friend! Haha yea I'm sorry lol I know picking only one thing is hard when you are eager to show someone your passion. Hopefully there will be a time when I can catch up and let people do more than one :)
Absolutely certain that the ONF is rising, although still very underestimated. Your songs, music are all beautiful and well made and world needs to see and hear it. The part what I loved the most and Rachmaninoff Sympgony no. 2nd MV doesn't even show the best part of the choreography! And I was watching with tears in my eyes and my hand pressed over my mouth all the MV that I couldn't move it really is a work -prime. The album is also amazing.
This is all I've heard from them so far but it was fantastic! I'm looking forward to hearing more and maybe even seeing them when they come on tour to LA this yr!
It makes me sad but not surprised that you had not heard of ONF. There are lots of great groups not under the big 4 companies. So excited that they will have a tour and I want to see them so much, their music is always so unique
On the bright side, I've heard of them now 😀 and I think others are starting to as well. Not sure this reaction vid is reaching anyone new but if so, I hope it can help spread the word too! You're right, there's lots of amazing talent not in the big 4... I was mentioning to another commentor below that, before stating this channel, I had never heard of BTOB, Infinite, etc. I wish there were a way to actually keep track of all of the talent but there's just so much and smaller labels can't afford the same marketing :( I heard the tickets for the ONF your are really reasonable so I'm gonna try to go to the LA show :)
ONF pronounced as On and Off . 8th mini album is Korean albums count. They debuted in 2017, but from 2021 Dec to 2023 Jun, they went to military service together so that they can continue their music journey together after that. They have a truly excellent discography. They are unique in that they have amazing songs for different audience and situations and their songs are rock solid high quality ones, that's why in Korea, they are known as "famous restaurants serving fine food". It's sad you have not heard of them because they just have not reached enough people yet!! Bye My Monster has a sampling from classical music Rachmaninoff: Symphony no.2 mvt 3. The song is about duality of love, light and shadow and the pureness of love which gives rise to the monster. Think you are right about your interpretation. It is basically an artistic way of expressing a love so tough...so heart breaking but the way they have crafted it is soooooo beautiful with the lyrics, the way they sung it and their dance choreography that it makes it so comforting and healing in the end. That's the amazing art in this song, truly brilliant and incredible! Check out their other songs...maybe Goosebumps for a contrasting feel to understand how dynamic they are.
Thank you for watching and for the information :) unfortunately I think there's a lot of talented groups that a lot of ppl haven't heard of. For example, I never heard of BTOB or Highlight or Infinite, etc until I started this channel and a lot of ppl I tell about those groups are like "who are they?!" I think groups like ONF need more attention! This song is very beautiful both in its poetry and its artistic expression. I hope more ppl can see it either by their page or this reaction and try them more!
@@JeffReacts12 These groups BTOB or Highlight or Infinite are from an earlier generation than them. So they are not as active, it is more understandable not to hear of them. As for them, they have been active, even during their military hiatus, they were "VERY ACTIVE" in the performance activities in the military plus releasing a song called "Your Song" (you can check out the MV) which was recorded before they enlisted, And before enlisting in 2021, they had FOUR comebacks in a YEAR!! ( Beautiful Beautiful, Ugly Dancing, Popping and Goosebumps) lol All of them are bangers!! See the amount of energy these guys have...you would be inspired. kekeke
@doremiidoremii411 haha yea they may be earlier generation but that also means been around even longer so more time to hear of them. (sorry for the long comment) OMGG you reacted to ONF (pronounced "on and off")!!! Thank you so much!! I don't know if you remember me, but I'm the one who requested a B1A4 Killing Voice reaction a while ago sdsfkjh ONF are from the same company as B1A4 (WM Entertainment), though they debuted much later in 2017! They're my current favorite group because of their musicality and the versatility of their discography, as well as the raw talent and sheer hard work of each of their members ever since their debut (+ they're just so lovable there's no way you could hate them sdkjf). For context with this release: their main producer Hwang Hyun (one of the key figures of a producing house called Monotree, he's also known for having worked with Loona, Red Velvet, SHINee, etc. in the past), who has produced 80% of their discography and all of their title tracks, opened up prior to their comeback on how angry he was that ONF weren't more famous. He confessed that he experienced a sort of burnout + was uninspired while working on their previous release (Love Effect) and the reception of the album was so unsatisfactory that he considered quitting his position as ONF's producer... because he started blaming himself for their lack of recognition (he stayed anyway sdkjfh WM's CEO told him not to worry because he thought that they work well together). As a teaser for this comeback, he said that the whole album is about "duality", that he poured his concerns of that time in BMM and hoped that the nostalgic feeling of the song would bring more attention to ONF (because it would remind K-Pop fans of the emo orchestral rock K-Pop from the 2010s). Following this interview, some fans then theorized that in the scenes of the member holding a pen with a shaky hand, the member in question is actually representating Hwang Hyun's struggles as a composer and that the lyrics could be about struggling against your inner, darker self and finding redemption (hence why the song sounds both hopeful and sad). ONF are all very close to Hwang Hyun to the point that they call him Hwangbeoji ("Hwang father"), so it wouldn't be a surprise if it were the case. Most of ONF's songs have well-crafted, thought-provoking lyrics, a handful of them taking inspiration from pop culture, literature and cities around the world to tackle various subjects, some similar to each other yet with a completely new twist thanks to the metaphors and different musical genres used. I do recommend checking ONF out more, especially for their music and lyrics because this is what they're mostly known for in SK! One duo of songs which I find absolutely genius is "The Realist" and "The Dreamer" - You can listen to them in a loop as the transitions are practically seamless, and the lyrics also respond to each other (they talk about the importance of dreaming and keeping a positive mindset to keep us afloat in a world that constantly engulfs you in anxiety, but also the importance of not taking your dreams too far and being aware of your limits as an individual)!
Welcome back! I actually do remember you and you wanna know why? Because I was going through my request list and yours is up next lol. I can see why you like these guys. If this song is indicative of their style, they're unique and artistic while also being great performers! Ahh thanks for the background! That would certainly explain the shaky hand/pen. I'm still missing what the connection is what all of the purple but this helps tie some of that together. As someone who hasn't listened to their other stuff, it would be unfair for me to say whether this song/performance feels MORE inspired than others but you can definitely feel something here whether it's determination, resentment, etc. I really enjoyed this with that infusion of classical and rock elements with modern pop. Thank you for the recommendations :) Stay tuned around May 24th. I'm going to be making some announcements for the channel about new stuff coming and kinda recapping where we are on the channel. Thanks for being part of this and for checking this one out!
