Love this song & video. Happily surprised by the great chemistry between her & Post Malone both musically and as actors. It took five watches, but I caught another interesting choice in the video. When their “magic smoke” joins and it flashes to them on the pieces of paper on the road not only are they in modern clothes, they are wearing exactly the same outfit right down to the very stylish shoes which are the only bit of colour. Also Post’s tattoo free (and quite handsome) face is now a reflection of Taylor’s face, the way her face reflected his at the beginning signalling a shift in the balance of power/emotion in the relationship. Also loved the subtle brilliance of having the doctors played by Ethan Hawke & Josh Charles, two of the stars of the Oscar winning 1989 movie The Dead Poet’s Society. She’s a brilliant director and no detail that adds depth (Dead Poets / Tortured Poets) is too small for her to go the extra mile to get the perfect creation even if many people don’t even notice it. For example Ethan & Josh’s doctors name tags have their character’s names from Dead Poets Society.

In hindsight she perceives it as a maniac phase. Some people allude to Taylor having an emotional affair before she broke up with Joe because of her lyricism in the track guilty as sin...which they think inspired this. Florida is a place im still trying to understand but she based the track song Florida!!! on Florida lore she saw on the news😂 and it was also her first show after the breakup Video meaning: its all in her head. It's based a fear of how her ex moved on after they broke up. Where he moves in next door with his wife and her frustration of being in an unhappy marriage (with her husband cheating). She perceived her ex and her still having a connection yet they cannot get together as the spouses are an obstacle. This eventually leads to her having a mental breakdown as for a fortnight they are working closely together, sending each other letters as they are having an emotional affair but they cannot get together (he left his mark on her/ she is wearing his face )- his tattoos on her face 👀 She tries to move on but it is not working ( I took the miracle move on drug the effects were temporary ...but it wont stop till I touch you/ you touch me) Some interpreters also believe that Tay's husband and Postie's wife are having a physical affair that she slowly reveals to us by burying the lead and telling us first that she simply wants to kill the wife for watering flowers 😢not just because she sees her as an obstacle to getting back with Post . So Tay and Postie eventually have an emotional affair based on their shared trauma bond of their spouses betrayal. She has sprinkled various easter eggs from the album in the video: the black dog, Ethan Hawke & Charles and the typewriter are the most obvious.

I'm not as good as other Swifties on the easter eggs, but there are a LOT in here. As far as I can tell, this is sort of a mashup of both relationships (she got out of the relationship with Joe: take the "forget him" pill and unchain herself, and then into the relationship with Matty: put his tattoos all over her since Matty has tattoos). She hints throughout the album that they’ve had a thing for each other for like 10 years but when she and Joe broke up they finally got their chance to be together and Taylor was instantly in love. I'm guessing they used CGI to remove his tattoos. Make-up works, but that was too clean. Ethan and Josh are Dead Poets Society. Taylor is smart. She complimented Post, he freaked out, and said nice things about her, and she contacted him to do a collab. Fun fact - Post Malone has a Travis Kelce tattoo from before Taylor and Travis.
