      Congress would get their act together if they had to abide by the very laws they pass. As it stands, they are able to exempt themselves from many of the mandates and laws they pass. Remember forced Obama care, the C shots, etc.? They were exempt from the mandates and purchasing Obama medical insurance.
      Plus I believe, I could be wrong, but I think they get paid for life their yearly salary after leaving office. Someone please correct me if I got that wrong.
      They are all criminal.

      If they only pay taxes on the tiny hourly wages paid to most of those workers they will recieve nothing from Social Security. SS payments are based on taxes paid over a lifetime. Many of today's retirees worked tip dependent jobs and paid no taxes on those tips. And those retirees recieve a pittance from Social Security. Many recieve less than a thousand. Some recieve less than 500. So maybe this is just one of Trump’s cynical ideas for getting Social Security out of debt.

And honestly - I believe he'll work towards eliminating a lot more taxes in his second term than this. The guy has great vision & makes good business decisions.. There's no need to think negatively. If you really pay attention - you'll see he has great intentions & truly wants to make all Americans prosperous. Don't listen to the media. And more importantly - don't trust Demoncrats. Long story short, people used to tip with cash. Servers could report the cash as tips or not. But since everyone uses cards now, all of the tips go to the restaurant. If they didn't report it as a tip they'd have to pay taxes on it as income. Thus, they give us our tips and report it as income to our SS#. Owners say that they'd like to pay the taxes on our tips but they can't afford it, and if they pay us what we average in tips they'd have to raise prices which would kill their business. Crazy. Remember, servers still make only $2.13/hr in "salary" from the owners. Same as it was 40 years ago.

Andrew Jackson shut down the Second bank of the United States because it became too powerful politically and economically, and there was a lack of congressional oversight. We’re in the same situation today with the fed driving inflation by endlessly printing money and raising interest rates. We don’t need the fed. It was supposed to go to the busboys and bartenders, but the owners were pocketing it. Three years after I quit that place, a server filed a class action lawsuit. I got a check for $400. LOL. The owner went to jail (the restaurant was also doing money laundering). They would also bring over relatives from Greece and put them in the kitchen and dish room. The deal was they had about six months (before the days of open borders) to try and find an American girl to marry. As Abraham Lincoln said: earning wages in exchange for your labor is simply an equally agreed upon trade. There is no profit. When the 16th amendment was written, "income" was not defined as labor exchanges for wages. INCOME was from a profit, and profit is what you get from interest, or buying a widget for 10 and selling it for 20, and subtract costs of doing business and cost of goods sold. Trading your life (labor) for money is NOT A PROFIT.

    If tips were no longer subject to tax, they would become more like gifts rather than service charges. What obligation is there to always give a 15% to 20% tip then? If the service charge were not taxed, many customers would likely reduce or eliminate their tips, ultimately resulting in a decrease in income for service workers such as waitresses and waiters.

  • @tx1wolf187
    @tx1wolf187 3 месяца назад +1

    In my experience most service workers are apolitical (i.e. they don't have the time to think about it too much and don't vote as a result). Those that do, tend like most other people who are not overly involved, to be Democrats. However, most people vote for their perceived interests and given the margins, eve a small percentage of flipped voters or new voters could make a large difference. That being said, I think economically this policy could be problematic, unless proper guard rails on what constitutes a "tippable worker".

    Nah. Tips should be taxed as regular income. It’s just regular income should be taxed less

  •  3 месяца назад +1

    People think tips were always taxes, I won't tell my age, but I remember when tips were NOT taxed. Then one day we were handed tip sheets to fill out on our tips. WHAAAAT!! About time they eliminated tax on tips I hope he can get that done permanently. THe salary these people are paid is taxed thats enough.

    Tax is a huge scam and the whole system needs overhauled. I think the problem is, the people that can do something about it, are the people making way too much money from it. The same with insider trading. Why would they want to restrict themselves from making millions of dollars on the side.

    So why should I pay tax on my self employed income if a waiter doesn’t have to pay tax on their income? That makes up pretty much their entire income.

In my opinion, tips should always be untaxed - I didn't even know they were! Let's tax our hard working citizens tips for giving great service, and then spend it on nonsense policies that no one wants. Sounds great!
