    Hi, 20+ years as an appliance tech and 10 as hvac tech. Question: Why didn't you fill the system with nitrogen when checking for leaks? Had you found a leak, you would've had to recover all your refrigerant to fix the leak. I've always done it that way... I realize your way is faster IF there are no leaks. But if there is a pinhole leak in the solder, the nitrogen can just be quickly vented into the atmosphere, then you fix your leak, and then put fresh refrigerant in.

Installation was about a 1,000.00, but the service guy suggested I purchase a Service Contract and the repair would be about 400.00. I entered the Sears Contract for 50 per month which covers all appliances. After 30 days the contract is cancellable, however, my refrigerator ice maker is broke and that was covered by the contract. I recommend getting that compressor replaced as the newer units I looked at just are not as good as that Sears Elite. This is all wrong. I would only do it this way if it were the end of the world and it was for myself.
    I certainly wouldn’t pay for it.
    You didn’t flush and purge with Nitrogen.
    You didn’t braze while flowing Nitrogen.
    You didn’t purge the refrigerant tank line while connecting to the service port.
    You didn’t maintain a vacuum with shut off valves for a reasonable amount of time or long enough for all the water to be boiled off with new oil in the pump.
    You didn’t swage any of the line connections.
    You seem to not like cleaning the connections. No proper ventilation.
    No mention of the brazing material being used. No mention of line routing that is critical to the performance of the system due to its use as an evaporative assistant for defrost water and condenser performance.
    I could go on.

      It's $600 and up if you get the compressor for free. But even if you do, they're still charging you full price like it wasn't covered. A local guy here will do it for $800 total. Parts and Labor. The compressor is $330. So the rest is labor, freon, solder, butane, and that stupid $125 control board updater. I'm so glad I didn't buy the 5 year extended warranty. Mine broke down 6 months after it would have expired.

      Yes this true I had a tech out called a local guy to come look at it and he came in and said you need a new compressor right out the gate I ask how much is that I just replace my compressor in my truck 2 days ago cost a bit but he said $1200 but there’s a class act lawsuit and your compressor will be free if you call this number 1-844-553-6667 called and there schedule to come out Friday and there comping me for food loss as well not sure how much yet but ok I will take it I have the same kenmore in this video. I could do it myself but let them handle it. I don’t have the new program to flash the update but the rest is easy. But the service guy that came out was cool he was here 1min 38 sec. I told him I appreciate the honesty he could of straight ran the numbers on me and don’t have to tell me about the lawsuit and I was ready to get done ASAP. I told him I’m going to pay for his time he was good with $20 bucks is what he changed me. I gave him $20 bucks and a HOT BEER lol naw I had cold beer in the other fridge. Thanks to good people out there. Anyone that has a problem call the number and get it free

      @Allenr64 3 года назад +1

      @@anapaz9390 no I didn’t have to show them any proof of purchase and no questions asked. They know these compressor are Fup and there replacing a bunch of them but I will tell you this I still haven’t got mine fix yet but the parts are coming in the mail everyday just waiting of one more thing there gutting the whole system and replacing everything. But I found out Sears will not pay for the labor all parts are payed for but not labor. Labor in my area it’s going to cost me out of pocket about $475.00. And I can also tell you this LG had the same compressors in them and LG is paying 100% for parts and Labor. I found a LG refrigerator on Facebook for $100 that had the same problem as mine call LG to about and there also gutting it and replacing everything in it as well 100% covered and I didn’t have to prove anything to them not proof of purchase all the asked me is when I bought it I told them 3 years ago and they said ok we will cover it. The only thing is look at the date in the LG refrigerators for the date longs it’s not passed 4 years old it can be maybe few months pass 4 years maybe 6 months passed and they will still cover them 100%. So when I found this out about LG I bought 1 off the Facebook market for $100 and called them and service guy was at the door next day and there replacing all the gutts for free no out of pocket to me but the $100 and me picking it up (Winning) on that end
