If that's a 466 it's likely cavitation has drilled a hole through one of the liners, good news is they are replaceable without pulling the engine ! Oh, and I'd save the $75, take the oil filter off, turn it over, let it drain, and screw it back on.
Just a quick question. Does the bus have a bolt on engine oil cooler adapter just above the engine oil filter? I have seen the cooling part of the engine oil in the radiator go bad. I have also seen that bolt on piece as a water /heat exchanger rot out on the inside also. In the shop, we would eliminate those items from the engine as part of the testing to make sure that it needed a head gasket or had a crack in the head.

Opinions are like.... Yeah, you know. That much coolant in the oil pan it's not a leak, it is a breach. Anything you throw into the cooling system to try to slow it down has about a 1% chance of doing anything. That kind of breach has to be pinpointed and usually requires teardown that never, ever, ever, ends up costing less, or goes faster than you think it will. You're facing some tough choices to correct these problems on a tight budget. Do your research on known problems like this with your particular engine. There may be a pattern to this kind of failure.

I am a full-time nomad and drive a 2000 Ford Econoline Van with 195K miles on it but well maintained and I still keep a minimum $5K emergency fund. It all comes down to money, but major repairs on two vehicles are going to break you or already have. Towing the van and trailer is also costing you money. Say the van transmission costs $2,000 divided by 12 = $166 a month and I know it's more when you add other repairs and maintenance, so unless your bus fuel for trips to town exceeds this, you are not saving money by keeping the van. You are also putting unnecessary wear and tear on the bus. Sorry, but it comes down to wants versus needs. Good luck.

Either a head gasket or a cracked block. I used to rebuild those motors 10 hours a day
