I just realized Danielle Brooks and Da'Vine Joy Randolph share the distinction of both having played Mahalia Jackson (Da'Vine played the part in Rustin this past year). That's a wild coincidence
I have not seen the movie. I hope in this movie it showed that Mahalia Jackson always sung to the Lord, because her eyes always looked up to the Heavens to Him when she sang. I did NOT see that from this part of the movie. I hope it showed that in the movie she looking up towards Heaven while singing, very important! because it was obvious that it was important to Mahalia Jackson. From what I’ve seen so far I am sure it was a good movie.
