  • We continue Season 5, by delving even further into the design principles and processes of Halston, the man who propelled American Fashion onto an international stage.
Roy Halston Frowick defined iconic American style and was hailed as "the premier fashion designer in America". Chris Royer, Halston’s fit model and Muse from 1972, experienced first-hand the evolution of one of America’s first fashion superstars!
Chris Royer, or “Chrissy” as Halston affectionately called her, was the designer’s fit model and muse and was part of Halston’s creative inner circle and troup of models known as the Halstonettes. Chris, with the help of Halston himself, created a comprehensive archive of some of the designer’s most important and influential designs.
In this episode, we continue our special interview and dive deeper into Halston’s world, his design processes and signature styles including his use of beading and appliqué and Halston’s garment construction and techniques.
We’ll be highlighting pieces from Chris’ personal Halston Archive and examining Halston as a pure American original and as a designer who constantly evolved his signature styles for the comfort and elegance of the ever-changing modern American woman.

I'm old enough to remember when Halston ruled the fashion world. Everyone wanted something, anything, with his name on it. Then he struck a deal with JCPENNEY in 1983 and was ostricized. Why? Because he wanted to dress all women and realized that not all women were celebrities, royalty or models and couldn't afford his coutoure line? Nowadays, every designer it seems, does it. Why? It's acceptable now but Halston was the first, a true icon, obviously at a time when it was frowned upon. It seems like the world forgot about him shortly thereafter. I'm so glad there's a couple of new generations who's being shown how revolutionary and legendary he is.
