These two songs have such a huge place in my history with Jay Park. Before I became a fan of him I remember listening to those songs all the time even just as a casual listener I was obsessed with them. This era was crazy!
I don’t know if you guys were aware of it but this music video consists of two separate songs. Worldwide is the title track of his album with the same name which came out in 2015 and established him as a rap artist in the Korean hip hop scene. He was mainly known as a RnB singer before and ex kpop idol so the rap scene in Korea didn’t really appreciate him like that but he managed to switch it up with this album. He has like 17 features on that Album. All top notch rappers and huge names in the scene. He wanted to showcase how connected he truly is to that scene and how important rap and hip hop is to him. Worldwide as a song is 6 minutes long and features Dok2 and The Quiett. These two were the founders of a label called 1llionaire Records. One of the biggest hip hop labels in Korea. Jay was extremely close to both of them. They took him under their wings and introduced him to the local scene and helped him connect with many people at the beginning of his career. He has huge respect towards them and wanted to sign under their label but they declined saying his name was too big and they wouldn’t have been able to support him properly which then led to him founding AOMG to begin with. His line about Dok2 is basically saying „hey even though I was a bigger name and had more success as an artist u guys were never jealous of me but supported me 100%“ he was giving them credit. Want It (the second part of the video) is also 6 minutes long and features Nochang and B-Free. Talking about their hunger and achievements. Jay has two verses in that song I love his closing verse. I recommend listening to both songs fully in your private time you barely got to listen to them in the music video.
During this era he packed several songs of the album to make visual but the actual full length version or WANT IT from the album is fire AF still one of my favorite rap song he did. This song aims to JYP entertainment and JYP himself that was his old label, JYP kicked him but he also blocked him from major shows and channel jay couldn’t appear in almost anything. No label would sign him too. That’s why he started AOMG in the first place because JYPE wanted to stop him from making music but he still managed to elevate. this album had a lot of shots towards JYP because he went back to Korea around 2012 but the whole time he came back and when he created aomg in 2013/2014 he had very few media appearance because of JYP. This album was kinda right after it around 2015. He later became so big that JYPE couldn’t really block him so much. Highly suggest you to react to his song « fuckboy » from that same album with subtitles. JYPE is the label that also created twice ITZY got7 stray kidz 1llionnaire records was Dok2’s label jay worked a lot with them when he started grinding. dok2 is like one of the legends of korean hiphop even though he’s younger than jay park. he had a label called illionaire which is the most iconic khh label before the existence of AOMG (jay park’s current label). even though illionaire was the biggest label in 2013-2014-ish, they didn’t recruit jay to their label, that’s why jay said that he’s not jealous in fact he’s illionaire’s son too.
