My guide hand used to release too early after my set point, leaving my shooting hand with too much work to do. Once I started keep my guide hand on the side for a little longer beyond the set point Ive shot much better. A huge difference. My mental cue is to remind myself to keep my guide hand elbow “loose” at and beyond my set point. Great video.

I know I’m very late to this video but I just started trying to play and I will try to hold it like that tomorrow if it doesn’t rain

I am struggeling with you opinion to have the index finger as the middle of hand under the ball. For me its the clearly the middle finger and if a pause the video at 36sec ruclips.net/video/6_YOFhrPdPI/видео.html. I can clearly see on your release, the last finger that touches the ball is your middle finger and the middle of the ball is straight under it.

Good eye George. Here is what you need to understand - I'm not a perfect shooter. See how on the shot you reference my hand actually finishes well over to the left of the ball once the ball is gone? That is me compensating for poor flexibility. So while in theory I want the middle of the hand (for most players it's near or on the index finger) to push the middle of the ball, it doesn't always happen perfectly. Steph Curry starts with his shooting hand well over on the right side of the ball and pronates his hand under the ball as he's releasing, which causes him to release off his middle finger. It happens, and Steph has obviously mastered his move, but it is a more complex move.

just try the “split finger” grip if its more comfortable. Its not a drastic change but could make the difference for you
