      I’m looking to getting one I’m 20 and currently driving a 96 corolla that I was going to build but I fell in love with this car, in your 7 years of ownership have you had any issues with it? Has it left you on foot because of big major issues that made you leave it in the shop for weeks? Really interest in one but it’d be my first time getting a new car from a dealer and I can’t afford to make payments on a car that I constantly have to dump money into for repairs

    I wouldn’t be concerned about the Boost Hose buddy. I’ve tracked my car and driven it hard enough to know that it’s solid. Your hose coming sounds like a tech might have loosened the clamps for some reason, maybe when they fixed your radiator, or there was some kind of lubricant on the connecting portion of the hose to the Intercooler. Drive it hard man.

    It’s great to see all these reviews of lots of people having good times with their ST’s. I’m on my third one and the first two were flawless but the third one has had the dreaded cel lights and constant misfire and drivability issues. I love the car so much but I’ve tried everything including purge, o2’s, new pre-gapped .26 step colder plugs, new coils, a catch can and I even put a meth kit on to keep the valves clean. It’s been annoying cel light and juddering and hesitation and jerking since I got it. Ugh my bro has a 17 ST with over 110k and big turbo and no issues and I’m sitting at 36k wanting to move on. Guess I got one of the bad ones unless something changes, when the car works right it’s probably the best car I’ve owned.

    I just hit 65k today on my FoST3. I just did the 60k service and had all the flushes done for proper maintenence. This car drives just as good as it did on day 1 (which is extremely fun), and ive been modified/tuned since mile 100. I have had not 1 single ford problem with the car (besides bending wheels on potholes but thats not the cars fault). I still enjoy it every day and no car payment. I plan on driving mine to 120k over the next 5 years. I really would of bought a new version if it came to the states. Great Car and super enjoyable.

    The real question is with the charge pipe/coupler issue are you using t-bolt style clamps or traditional worm gear hose clamps. If its hose clamps thats your issue they dont provide enough clamping force across the pipe/tube whereas the t-bolt has a larger contact surface and spreads the clamping force better across the circumference of the pipe/tube and is less likely to back off due to most having nylon locking hardware and will hold up better if you get stainless clamps rather than other materials

    Charge pipes popping off is a known issue, especially under higher than stock boost levels. Just be happy it was on the intercooler side and not the turbo side, intercooler side is a 30 minute fix for me, turbo side is a nightmare.

    Gjeebs! I did the same thing, blew a charge pipe off the intercooler on the way back from an out of state trip, luckily I had a toolbox with me to get everything back on. I totally can see why you said it makes you lose confidence. I have 2 solutions for you! I have heard people will pop off that pipe and they will lightly spray hairspray on it to help the hold! Crazy, right? But another solution and my personal taste, is if you are going to do something, do it right - go ahead and look into upgrading your charge pipes. They will hold way better than the stock ones and you really can feel the car being able to breathe better under load.

      Depends what you want really, 5.0 straight line speed vs ST really good at turns and has really good low end. I’m bolt on tuned with my ST and it’s definitely not the fastest, but man it’s fun af

      For a first manual id think a 5.0 would easy to throw off the road by dropping the clutch too fast. I test drove an st and really like the interior but though it was kinda slow. Now i drive a stick miata lol.

      I’ve owned my 2014 5.0 6mt since new. I’ve done a lot of bolt ons, bagged it, lots of suspension mods...and I just picked up my 2016 ST2 with 32k miles in March 2020. I’ve only driven the Mustang three days since I got the Focus. It’s such a fun little canyon carver daily driver. I live in the SF Bay Area and owning the Mustang here isn’t fun. You can’t really open it up without traffic or running into a CHP etc. The ST is much easier to drive, rides better, is more convenient with 2 young kids and it gets decent mpg while still driving spiritedly. I love the way the Mustang looks and sounds, but the ST is far more refined and usable in more situations. Feel free to reply or ask me more questions if you want! 👍🏼

    • @Gjeebs
      @Gjeebs  3 года назад

      It’s the package of accessories the car comes with. Mine is an ST3 so it comes with the most options. What is most notable about each package is the seats. ST1 has the least aggressive seats and no navigation screen. ST2 and ST3 have the navigation and the heavily bolstered recaro seats

    • @brandons9138
      @brandons9138 3 года назад

      Trying to find a nice ST2 or ST3 right now is not easy. They are asking premium prices for them. ST1s are more plentiful, but like Gjeebs said they are the least optioned out. I got my ST1 as a certified pre-owned for a good price. It's kinda rough in some places, but it's still a blast to drive.

It was a source of creaks and groans when the car changed temperatures. If it was cold in the morning and got hot in the afternoon I'd have to crack it open and then close it. Otherwise I'd get pops and creaks in the interior when I went over bumps.

      Used car prices are totally out of whack with reality right now because of the shortage of new cars. Dealerships are buying up used car inventories just to have something on the lot to sell.
