    I have watched this twice now - it's super useful. My one question is this: where did you get the info for the engine-out procedure? Is 25 miles and then hold a standard procedure?

    • @AirbusCockpitCoach
      @AirbusCockpitCoach  Месяц назад +1

      Hello, engine out procedures are hard to come by and are usually issued by an operator. Straight out to 25nm and hold is standard unless there is terrain about

    Great video. Everytime I do EGGW TO EGPH I get a flight plan disconuity flying into EGPH even though I plan it through simbrief. Any help would be appreciated

      Hello and thanks for watching. A route discontinuity is totally normal on many flights and should be there. Often on an approach there will not be a defined route from the last waypoint to the approach as that is managed in a variable way by ATC vectors and the discontinuity is there to serve as a reminder of that. The same will apply on a departure that does not have a SID, we would climb on rwy heading and await vectors and the route will have a disco. It is a reminder that we need to take some form of action in the flight deck from the discontinuity point. Hope that helps.

    Came across your videos last week and subbed. I find them really helpful and interesting 👍 have you ever thought of going live doing a full flight on MSFS?

      Hello, this is the Fenix Simulations mod not the MSFS default. On the Fenix mod if you click on the microphone it can hide the ipad/electronic flight bag

    The one thing I don’t completely understand is the fuel pred page. I can’t locate any doc on the different fuel fields, and when I increase one (ex: ALTN) it decreases EXTRA. Should EXTRA always be zero? I realize that some of these are airport-specific (ex: TAXI) or operator-specific (ex: RTE RSV), so perhaps it’s only ALTN, FINAL, and EXTRA that I don’t get.
    In the sim I added some extra fuel and really messed things up in the MCDU, so I guess I’m not clear on the best way to add extra.
    I was waiting on a real-world flight recently and just happened to be sitting by the flight crew at the gate prior to boarding. We had some hurricane weather to fly around, so the captain instructed the FO to load some additional fuel for buffer. I’d like to know how to do this properly in the sim.

    • @AirbusCockpitCoach
      @AirbusCockpitCoach  Месяц назад +1

      Hello, ALTN fuel is the amount you need to divert to the selected alternate after performing a go around. FINAL is the legal minimum you must land with which is 30 mins for most carriers. Extra is everything left over once everything is taken into consideration and is what is need to perform a second approach after a go around or to hold so in most cases we would want some extra depending on weather or traffic at our destination. To add additional fuel this would be done via the EFB tablet in the SIM or on some aircraft the FMC. Just add the amount over the planned that you need and load before flight using whichever tool you would normally use to load fuel. It can be done through Simbrief in advance at the planning stage of course. I may do a short video on the fuel page to help others understand it 👍

    What are the small screens above MCDUs?

    • @AirbusCockpitCoach
      @AirbusCockpitCoach  3 месяца назад +1

      Hello, these are the Datalink Control and Display Units (DCDU) and are used by pilots to communicate with Air Traffic Control by the means of text messages instead of voice radio

    I noticed u didnt do the IRS align page, is that not necessary if we turn all 3 IRS to NAV? just checking, excellent videos always! thanks!

      Thank you! We come back to this as a check later but is not part of the initial setup. Often the IRS system is not aligned at the initial MCDU setup stage. I have just released a cold and dark setup tutorial which includes that check. Thanks as always for watching 👍

    im a bit lost in the radio and 2nd flight plan where do u find the info

    • @AirbusCockpitCoach
      @AirbusCockpitCoach  Месяц назад +1

      Hello, for radio/nav we get the information from our charts and input fixes pertinent to the departure and use in an emergency. The secondary flight plan info is hard to come by and varies between operators but unless terrain or airspace is an issue it is often straight out on runway heading
