  • Limited time, construction and a fast approaching storm hampered our video capture of downtown Timmins, Ontario, Canada. However, we did get to cover much of the downtown core of this Northern Ontario city.
    Located on the Mattagami River, Timmins is nearly 300 kilometres north of Sudbury and 720 KM north of downtown Toronto. Established in 1912, originally built around gold mining, the population is closing in on 50,000.

    Thanks for the drive thru. My family still lives there. I remember what the community use to be. Was heartbroken by the environmental disaster that the mines have created all for profit. I am a land defender in the west kootneys. Timmins was beautiful.

    I really love videos like this. I grew up in Timmins and moved away 2 years ago and I like to look at driving tours of the city when I'm feeling a little home sick. cuz now Timmins is at least a 9 hour drive away so its not convenient to actually go there lol.

    Hello from the FACE. Well that was pretty cool. Damn I could not remember all the streets as he passed them. It was a fairly decent place to grow up around. Saw the old man's shop but saw a few boarded up places though. looks like the Northern sis not survive. Thanks Tom. a shout out to SLIM hope yo are doing ok bro.

    OMG I lived there for 13 years.. I was not a fan! But in those years I owned( maybe the bank really owned them) but we paid the mortgage. Didn't matter, but I couldn't wait to get out of there .My kids were born there. I owned a business there. The most hilarious thing I can remember is my husband taking a blow torch to thaw out the frozen truck . -45C(-49 F) ..I was hoping to see thinks I recognize.. I will take a second look but it was so long ago..

    I use to live there. It’s really gone downhill since I last lived there. The best part of the tour is when you drove by the slots. Lol. Jk

      The only other time I'd been there was more than 20 years ago for a wedding - was mostly drunk or hungover for the 2 days I was there..

    My home town and residence, yeah it's not my favorite place, but way better than the Toronto area 1000 times over!

      We were camping at ivanhoe and drove in for the afternoon- it always blows me away just how big of a city it is so far from the rest of the province..

    Timmins probably feels like NYC after that long drive up Highway 144 through some of the most remote wilderness in Ontario.

      That, 101 and 129 are some of my favorite roads in all of Canada - and I've driven coast to coast (however, I have yet to attempt them in winter - might change my opinion a bit - lol)

    Catchy music but your title is a little misleading. Half the video is side streets and highway.

    • @TomSamworth
      @TomSamworth  Год назад

      Ya - like every other city in Ontario- it was a road construction disaster - any planned route was thrown out the window - plus, time was limited with the rain coming in..
